June 7, 2007, 10:24 a.m.Medical reasons? What medical reasons? Because she was depressed? You or I would still be in jail. This will just make celebs think they can get away with murder!
More details here (but not really, doesn't say anything else except story history). My guess is someone got a lot of pressure from the Hiltons ... or some money.

June 7, 2007, 2:21 p.m.In the long run, we are all to blame. When we allow useless folk like Paris and Lindsay to become near deities by our rabid attention to every detail of their lives, we prepare the way for this sort of thing. If one of their adoring fans were in the same situation, I doubt that they would receive anything like this treatment. When will we learn to respect people for actual achievements that are more substantial than appearing in a film or two, drinking, clubbing, and having lots of money? Not only does the CA court seem idiotic, this matter also appears to prove that they really can be bought. We have met the enemy and they are us! (Walt Kelly, POGO year unknown).

June 7, 2007, 2:39 p.m.Once again, this shows the double standard justice system. One for the rich and powerful, one for the peons. Justice isn't blind, it has bifocals.

June 7, 2007, 2:40 p.m.If it were the average citizen Joe or Jane you can be sure that they would have served most of it. I agree that if you do the crime you should do the time. I would not doubt it if she goes back to driving drunk and God forbid she kills someone, but then again she would have the money to pay the victim's family off as well. Justice is blind in some cases and just plain ignorant in this case.

June 7, 2007, 2:43 p.m.Well this shows how pathetic and lost American society has become. PRISONERS GET BETTER HEALTH CARE THAT THE ADVERAGE AMERICAN, SO WE KNOW THIS IS A FALSE EXCUSE. Once again, she has proven that if you have money and your family has influence the system does not apply to you.
I WILL SAY THIS!
NOT TO MAKE THIS A RACIAL ISSUE, BUT THIS IS WHAT THE JUSTICE SYSTEM FEELS LIKE FOR MOST BLACK PEOPLE! IF YOU CANT AFFORD A LAWYER THAT PLAYS GOLF WITH THE JUDDGE THEN YOU ARE SCREWED.
PLAIN AND SIMPLE LOOK AT THE PEOPLE THAT ARE OVERWHELMINGLY MORE LIKELY TO BE ARRESTED AND GIVEN THE DEATH PENALTY.
I THINK THE FEELING EVERYONE IS FEELING OVER THIS REFLECTS THE REALITY OF HOW CURRUPT AND UNJUST OUR SOCIETY HAS BECOME, THIS SITUATION BRINGS IT MORE TO LIGHT
THE COMMON MAN/WOMAN IS A PESANT IN THE LAND OF THE FREE!
NEXT TIME SEND PARIS TO SCARED STRAIGHT SO YOU WONT WASTE TAXPAYER's MONEY!.

June 7, 2007, 11:58 p.m.Wait till the general population gets so riled and irritated by this anorexic wraith's behavior that they finally take it out on those who are most responsible for her lack of responsibility and respect for our society - her parents!
Maybe, a general boycot of the Hilton Hotels might infuse some common sense in parents and misbegotten offspring...

June 7, 2007, 3:05 p.m.What is needed is a neck shackle instead of the ankle bracelet.
Self evident that there are laws for the privileged and laws for the masses.
For the masses, you need to stop convicting, thereby stop convicting yourself through more taxation and regulation that the privileged do not have to face.

June 7, 2007, 3:16 p.m.She wasn't eating because she was sooooo depressed. Poor pitiful gurl. She might have lost a few pounds and then clashed with her bud Nicole in the skinnest skank contest. We couldn't have that on our conscience could we?

June 7, 2007, 3:27 p.m.I just want to know what medical condition she came down with that justified releasing her to her home instead of to a hospital (where she'd be in a locked ward, chained to a bed, or have a guard posted at the door to her room).
I suspect the real reason it hasn't been released is because if it was common knowledge, inmates all over the country would be coming down with it!

June 7, 2007, 3:29 p.m.And all kidding aside......when word of this gets out to the general prison populations in California, there will quite probably be some rioting.
I wouldn't condone it.....but I sure would understand it.
Especially when the "palace confinement" winds up being 2 or 3 days!
