Paris Hilton has been fitted for ankle bracelet and put under house arrest, after authorities determined to release Hilton from prison due to medical reasons, this according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept. spokesperson Steve Whitmore.

Medical reasons? What medical reasons? Because she was depressed? You or I would still be in jail. This will just make celebs think they can get away with murder!
More details here (but not really, doesn't say anything else except story history). My guess is someone got a lot of pressure from the Hiltons ... or some money.

In the long run, we are all to blame. When we allow useless folk like Paris and Lindsay to become near deities by our rabid attention to every detail of their lives, we prepare the way for this sort of thing. If one of their adoring fans were in the same situation, I doubt that they would receive anything like this treatment. When will we learn to respect people for actual achievements that are more substantial than appearing in a film or two, drinking, clubbing, and having lots of money? Not only does the CA court seem idiotic, this matter also appears to prove that they really can be bought. We have met the enemy and they are us! (Walt Kelly, POGO year unknown).

What a waste of space. Paris Hilton is the most annoying person on the planet, and I hope she goes outside of her house, and her sentence is worst. Anyone want to make wages on how long until she ****** this deal up? I give it 2 weeks!@!!-Oh no-not house arrest, in her ****** mansion. This is ******!!! If I ever get arrested for the same ******, I want that deal.

If it were the average citizen Joe or Jane you can be sure that they would have served most of it. I agree that if you do the crime you should do the time. I would not doubt it if she goes back to driving drunk and God forbid she kills someone, but then again she would have the money to pay the victim's family off as well. Justice is blind in some cases and just plain ignorant in this case.

Well this shows how pathetic and lost American society has become. PRISONERS GET BETTER HEALTH CARE THAT THE ADVERAGE AMERICAN, SO WE KNOW THIS IS A FALSE EXCUSE. Once again, she has proven that if you have money and your family has influence the system does not apply to you.
I WILL SAY THIS!

Self evident that there are laws for the privileged and laws for the masses.

I just want to know what medical condition she came down with that justified releasing her to her home instead of to a hospital (where she'd be in a locked ward, chained to a bed, or have a guard posted at the door to her room).
I suspect the real reason it hasn't been released is because if it was common knowledge, inmates all over the country would be coming down with it!

And all kidding aside......when word of this gets out to the general prison populations in California, there will quite probably be some rioting.
I wouldn't condone it.....but I sure would understand it.
Especially when the "palace confinement" winds up being 2 or 3 days!
