Post-9/11 Constitutional Violations to Our First Amendment Rights »

Posted by: populist 2 years, 6 months ago

It's a dangerous and frightening time in America today as the nation hurtles toward tyranny, and our right to speak out and protest continues being challenged and undermined. That makes the battle for the last frontier of press freedom crucial to preserving our fragile democracy now somewhere between life support and the crematorium.

Excellent article. This is one area where I wish I was wrong.

But America indeed is being taken down the road to Fascism and failure if it's citizens continue to allow it.

Yikes I am scared. Fascists in the Middle East immigrating countries and for the last eight years fascism in the US. I have yet to understand why anyone supports the Republican Party. They promote laws to protect big business, pollution, converting our country to a Christian based gov ignoring the constitution and protection against laws that are biblical rather then logic and free from religious persecution. They promote segregation and prejudice by supporting discrimination and distaste for differences, and they make decisions irrationally based on belief rather then statistics and science. They lie in demonstrative ways i.e., defend and obey the constitution and then deciding to ignore their promise, i.e., vetoing stem cell research. The only basis for this is God places a soul in the fertilized egg. I believe when the President took the oath it was intended that he would make logical decisions based on knowledge not his religious beliefs violating 1st amendment.

We have absolutely got to get behind the Habeas Corpus act, and I mean ram it through if necessary.

It is without question the most important piece of legislation since the Constitution was signed.

Without habeas corpus the Bill of Rights is nothing but a piece of paper.(Where have I heard that before?) It should be obvious by now that was the purpose of its dissolution in the first place. This has been contrived and carefully constructed for years to the end of destroying the Constitution and the foundation of American law.

There is a group of people in power to whom the law effectively does not apply. Witness the fact that they openly defy and mock it with no punishment. They have systematically destroyed our rights while removing from themselves any responsiblity for anything they may do.

They defy us to stop them at every turn and then take away yet another of our rights.

If we are to remain free, we are going to have to actively defend our freedoms.

              Whatever it takes.

Welcome Americans to the same club with the rest of the world! USA has for long outrageously spied all computer networks data, telephone calls and faxes of the foreign countries. They spy on the private citizens as well as practise industrial espionage of corporations for the good of the American corporations.

How do you like it now?

The system is called Echelon, and you can start reading about it for example from here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ECHELON

Why do i have this strange feeling that the next time I go to the U.S. there will be some uniformed guy with a machine gun yelling "STOP! You have your papers?"

BTW i think all this election debate stuff might be moot, from the looks of things Bush is getting his pieces in place to stop the next election.

Name this law / act? Hint, its not the PATRIOT ACT

                      This Law

The Center for National Security Studies issued an excellent [WWW]analysis of the bill, along with information on the [WWW]FBI and [WWW]trends.

The National Coalition Against Repressive Legislation summarized the bill in XXXX and the law as finally passed in XXXX. NCARL and others raised important criticisms:

Presumed guilty, secret evidence can be used Permanent resident aliens arrested under this law have to prove they should not be held in jail before trial. Secret evidence can used in the detention hearings and at trial that only the judge could see, not the defendant.

Why are our congressional and senatoral elected representatives allowing Bush to issue and make all these violations to the constitution? Terroism is no excuse to violate the constitution and now the terroism is coming from our own government. And its against the american people. Terrorist have just given a marginal and insane president the powers that the constitutional protections were designed to avoid. American people can deal with the foreign terrorist but having a terrorist government leader is a differnt and more dangerous situation. Any and all these self imposed powers by Bush should immediately be disolved and discontinued by the powers of our congressional leaders. They have this authority and responsibility to the people and the constitution they represent. They have to wake up first and take control of the government from coporate america to get control of the government back in to their hands and the hands of the people.

"George Bush is a serial abuser of the presidential practice of attaching "signing statements" to laws passed although nothing in the Constitution allows it."

"Habeas Corpus". For those unfamiliar with this, The right of Habeas Corpus is basically, the right to have your case heard- read defend- yourself before a judge on any charge. It is also the foundation upon which all other rights stand. Why? Because without the ability to prove yourself innocent of any violation of any law you can be locked up forever without recourse.

Argue all you want. Either for, or against. The majority just don't understand; or have never been taught, the basic fundamentals of the Constitution and therefore are ignorant of the consequences of letting any government body control and interpret our constitution. There can be no black, white, red, brown, yellow, or green with bright pink spots, we are all AMERICANS and to allow any government to bypass what our founding fathers gave us is the slippery slope that leads to anarchy and our demise both as a NATION and as human beings.
