June 9, 2007, 12:39 p.m.I've been saying we can't let up, that we have to continue the pressure on congress and the president over this bill or they'll keep trying. I was wrong, continuing the pressure isn't enough it seems now, we all need to increase it as much as possible. Look at what is happening now...

June 9, 2007, 12:40 p.m."Sifting through the wreckage after the implosion of the Senate immigration bill, backers of the deal voiced optimism Friday that it will be revived within weeks รข;; if for no other reason than they intend to bring massive pressure on Congress to act.
The architects of the "grand bargain" that would couple increased enforcement with a path to legal status for millions of illegal immigrants vowed not to abandon their fight.
"We're inside the 10-yard line and we've got four downs, and I like our chances," said Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., a key drafter of the bipartisan deal.
Graham and his allies predicted the bill, which failed to clear two key hurdles Thursday, could return to the Senate floor before Congress breaks for the Fourth of July recess."

June 9, 2007, 1:10 p.m.Having personally spoken to several congressmen, I can tell you they are wanting this thing silenced and for that matter, they want Harry Reid to put a sock in it before ALL their future votes become endangered.

June 9, 2007, 1:50 p.m.Please continue to apply any and all pressure you can on your representatives, both Senators and House members. Call, email and snail mail them to death! This bill is simply wrong. It gives law breakers legal status!
Is it not the same as telling someone that just stole your car, that all they need to do is pay you a few $$$, and they will not face any other consequences, rather they will be rewarded for their hard work!
I really would like for someone to find (I have tried, but have not been able to yet) the Website that tracks and posts the voting records of all our U.S. reps! I know it is out there!

June 9, 2007, 2:40 p.m.((Immigrant rights groups and union leaders supportive of the legislation for the first time singled out Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn as a main obstructionist.
"It's safe to say that Senator John Cornyn is arguably the lawmaker most responsible for stopping comprehensive immigration reform over the last three years," said Frank Sharry, executive director of the National Immigration Forum.))
Cornyn for President! ;-)

June 9, 2007, 9:16 p.m.Being from Nevada I can assure you Harry Reid will not get my vote like many. What is with the Democrats? They have a shoe in with the actions of Bush and his administration and then they go off into outer space by alienating the masses. I think a Democratic shrink should be assigned most Democrats. The Republicans failed to follow this "Shrink idea", and look where they are today, losers but winners with the immigration issue. Hell, they may win Washingtion again with the inane Democratic policies.
The immigration issue is a hot buttom item with voters but they think 12 millions illegals now legal will be their trump card. Democrats with Pelosis actions to date have been abysmal. Reform, yeah right the crooked politicians still have the right to committ felonies, be convicted and yet still collect a government pension. Go Pelosi and Reed you abominable creatures of habit.

June 10, 2007, 12:23 p.m.Do us a favor, and don't change the subject. That is waht other threads are for. One thing at a time. Unless it is your intention to distract us and this is just a technique; if so, then go away.
We can't let our congress simply ignore this and let it go away. They must insist on enforcement that is fully funded at this point. Bush and many GOP'ers and Dems are trying to do exactly that. "Look at the shiny watch" and we forget our most pressing issues. There job is to deal with ALL of them, not just one.

June 9, 2007, 11:22 p.m.If ever you have ridden through the country roads of S.C. and GA. Take in to consider the scenic view of old houses along the roads. You will see that most of them look vacant and they do stay vacant a majority of each year. They house the legal and the legal aliens that pick the crops. Look real good you will see fields and fields of crops and such. Saluda, S.C. is one, They call it little Mexico and the next town and the next town too. On and on clear through GA. Georgia is a little more hidden when it comes to their farms.

June 10, 2007, 5:39 a.m.Remember this, the last presidential election and the one before were ran on certain issues. Mainly issues that the American people have that threaten life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Our elected and Administration (both sides) are up to their old tricks again when it comes to manipulating the masses. The only conclusion is to use the current laws existing and make these the illegals leave. they need to be rounded up. If any of our elected really meant to get rid of the illegals, we would be seeing our troops and law enforcers at home picking them up left and right. George Bush has not given that order. Our Congress has not even bothered to enforce the people's demands.

June 10, 2007, 10:06 a.m.Congrees has become a smug child that wants what it wants at any cost,,,, they fell they know better than the 'People' what is best for the country and will stop at nothing to get what they want. I wish we could all just stay home and not cast one vote next year and pull all the contributions that we send to those elected by us as a message that WE run this country. We have been reduced to just voting bots and are loved for our votes to let these people stay in power but after we vote we are less than zero to them,,,,, term limits are in order

June 10, 2007, 11:24 a.m.If you are looking for a group to help in your fight against amnesty try "numbersusa". It is a great organization that provides faxing and phone information, as well as the voting record of your reps. on immigration and amnesty.

June 10, 2007, 11:44 a.m.We MUST get this stopped BEFORE it becomes law. Voting them out after that is to late. Yes, I agree that any politician that votes or voted for this travesty, needs to be voted out. I plan on continuing to apply pressure, I hope everyone else does as well.
We must stop this invasion of our Soverign country! The sad thing is that most of this is over future political clout primarily for the Dem. party, but those repubs. that support it are looking to the future of their party base as well.
Combine that political fact with those that say we need to "feel sorry" for these hard working people that only want to better their lives... and you end with B.S. Legislation like this one! I do not feel sorry for them. I will not feel sorry for them or their plight as long as they are here. I will feel sorry for them, and work to help them once they are back in Mexico where they came from!
Until then, I will continue to shame anyone that I see hiring one outside of Home Depot!

June 10, 2007, 3:20 p.m.I'd like to see an in depth investigation in to why the laws that resulted from the last amnesty bill were not enforced.
It seems to me that quite a few people failed to uphold their oath of office in turning a blind eye to the border, and the laws.
I'd like them to understand why this failed, and fix it before they do anything else.
Once that's done, they need to implement policies that secure the border.
THEN we can talk about the illegal who are here. My opinion is that you don't punish them for breaking a law that no one was enforcing. We collectively gave them a wink and a nod, so we are as guilty as they are. But we can change the way we do things from here on out.
