    "If we believe the patient has a strong intent to put others at risk, we need to have confidence we can take action absent documentation of intent to cause harm," Dr. Julie Gerberding, head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, told lawmakers last week.

      Forcing an American citizen to give up all their rights because they have a condition they had no conscious part in getting is absurd. They should, at least be quarantined in some sort of govt sponsored mansion with many accommodations. And a fee paid to his/her family.

        I question the need for tighter laws at the border on this score. Speaker was passed through because "he didn't look sick."

        Sounds like we just need actual enforcement.

          I'm not convinced we need to make drastic changes. Just how many people have died in the last 50 years because we didn't quarantine people more aggressively?

          If it's a small number, then I suspect that nothing short of an act of biological terrorism would be reason to make a change.
