June 11, 2007, 12:10 p.m.Wilson's original sentence, for aggravated child molestation, was widely criticized on the grounds it was grossly disproportionate to the crime. State lawmakers later passed a law to close the loophole that led to the 10-year sentence.

June 11, 2007, 12:30 p.m.I hope something can be done so that this young man does not have to remain in jail while the state appeal process works its way through. Genarlow Wilson needs to be let free TODAY!

Just how pathetically worthless is the DA's office in the state of Georgia, anyway, to not be able to recognize such an absurd miscarriage of justice and racism--and stupider yet, to do it in front of the entire world on the front pages of newspapers and on the internet. I think if I worked for the DA's office, I'd quit, lest my name EVER be associated with this pathetic asswipes.

June 11, 2007, 5:40 p.m.All of our systems are in break down mode and need extensive overhaul.
Most of us experimented as minors. If we all confessed to what we did, we all would be criminalized today. It is so ridiculous. Government expects minors to act as adults.....well duh fat chance of that. We adults should be concerned enough to council and guide our youth, not throw them into jail at every opportunity.

June 11, 2007, 6:02 p.m.How could this kid still be in prison after they closed th "loophole" in the law. All persons convicted because of this loophole should be freed. On the other issue of the girl being underage so she was incapable of giving consent, hogwash! Show me a young man with hormones raging that could tell a 17 year old girl that they can't have sex because she doesn't know what she is doing! It's ludicrous to think that would happen. If it does happen the guy can be sent to prison for years. Show me again how justice will be served by doing this. Of course we can always use the banal statement that the law is not made to be just it's just the law.
