this was a sad time in our history when a man and a woman could not marry because of their color.

We look back now and think how ridiculous these laws were. Just makes you wonder how people 40 years from now will judge us when they look back and see all the bigotry that exists in our society today.

When i was a teenager Sec of State Dean Rusk's daughter married a black man, that was in 1967 and it caused quite a stir.

Today's society still looks at biracial couples with distaste. It's really a shame too.

I feel sorry for her that she ended up loseing her husband at such a young age. I wish they could have enjoyed the victory of haveing a long lasting marriage. Racism is far from over. Mr. and Mrs. Loveing were willing to step outside of the box in those times and lived for each other. Good people are hard to find these days, I am glad people support, celebrate, and remember the date of June 12, 1967. We can only move foward when the right people can lead us to victory. These were two of those people.

As long as the identity of the each race is celebrated and preserved within a interracial relationship, I have no problems. The reason for that statement is sometimes the black side of interracial relationships suffers (I speak from personnel experience) in the families I know including my own, the black parent is not very aware of there heritage or in extreme cases as absolutely nothing good to say about his or her race most lightly based on prior relationship. I think my point is it should always be a choice of love, not the belief one is escaping there own race.

The stress of dealing with the government killed him.

The government should not get involved in domestic affairs unless they trully want to help. They can provide free education, healthcare, childcare etc. This is where their help is needed.

I think the government gets involved in domestic issues to fire people up. This also does not cost them any money. Only time that they have plenty to waste.
