We Must Return to Our Constitution »
Posted by: populist 2 years, 6 months agoWe the Citizens of America need to return to the rule of law. Not just a law for the masses, no, we need to bring especially those we have elected into compliance with the Constitution - the law governing our government. They were elected for this purpose!

June 12, 2007, 8:04 a.m.Borrowing from Eisenhower, I'm finding America has ceased to be great. For a long time now, a 3rd, 4th party has been needed, but to me, this need seems to be ignored. Oh I understand money is the main factor, but geesh, I'm sure there has to be a way to level the field.

June 12, 2007, 11 a.m.The agenda of the few has become very harmful to a lot of citizens here. There are those that run for President that have no party. They pay their 100.00 dollars and their name is never heard. Press coverage should be given to all at no charge. Our already elected seem to have a pact with the disagreeable of their parties on who will take the loss on the up coming elections. As for the elected constantly defining the meaning of the Constitution I have found they they take no physical action on the law breakers of real issue. Example, the illegal aliens. We have Army forts that house our troops. Some of those forts are closed if not closed not housing much. They need to use these forts to hold the illegals till processed and sent back. The IRS is not collecting the money from varies institutions, businesses and the farmers that are evading taxes by using illegals because they take none or little physical Constitutional action.

June 12, 2007, 11:49 a.m.Did we see Law enforcement picking up the illegals during their protest? How could such a protest be legal in this country when you are not a citizen? Tell me how much physical action has been taken on behalf of the Constitution and our laws. Little and not enough. We have paid for physical action decades ago and have not gotten our moneys worth.

June 12, 2007, 11:54 a.m.Since when does an illegal immigrant have a right to stand out in public and protest on our soil? They should not have that right till they have become a citizen. That means come across that broder the legal way and apply. Also learn to speak English.

June 12, 2007, 12:31 p.m.14th Ammendment: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of the citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law, nor deny any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."
Prior to this ammendment, people were Citizens (notice the capital C) of each State and as sovereign Citizens of each State, had power OVER the federal government which was supposed to work for US. I suggest everybody check out www.consti...

June 12, 2007, 12:33 p.m.I heard Bush on the radio today refer to OUR government as "HIS GOVERNMENT" ; Bush is a psychopathic megalomaniac and a FASCIST. Why Congress has not pursued impeaching him (and Cheney) for multiple crimes is just astounding. Maybe its because Nancy Pelosi got caught with her "hands in the cookie jar" (her husband, as I recall, was a defense contractor lobbyist concurrent with her being on the Armed Services Commitee. He's resigned since. However, hardly a PEEP from our corporate controlled media about Pelosi's "for profit" misdeeds related to his lobbying (or any media investigation ongoing related to it). I'd bet some backdoor dirty deal was made between her and the Bush Administration (Rove et al won't go after her with an investigation IF Pelosi promised not to allow impeachment procedings to initiate...more crime and corruption for self gain. Oh yea, for you Bush supporters, I am a cardcarrying conservative Republican. NEOCONS are NOT conservatives.

June 12, 2007, 12:35 p.m."We the people" Interesting phrase considering that very few have ever read, or understand what it means. Take back our country is a cry I've heard for years and yet nothing is done. Replace every one of our elected reps is another and just for a moment, lets think about that. First, allow me to digress for a moment. I have an old friend who once said that same thing, then went on to say that maybe we should just drop a Neutron bomb on Washington since it wouldn't destroy anything but people and that would get rid of the problem, but the question that couldn't be answered was, okay now whom are you going to replace all those politicians with? That same question I ask you all. Can anyone tell me that once exposed to the air in Washington, these new reps would really remain true to the ideals that forged this great country of ours?
Change must happen that is a true thing. The problem is how to make it happen, so that we never have to do it again. So who has the answer?

June 12, 2007, 12:59 p.m.The cleaning of Congress will be a long process. There is a reason for more parties to come into being. The mass of citizens is larger than what the Constitution is covering. Perhaps a president out of each party. More than one president for a term. Our state laws should conform to the constitution, should they not?

June 12, 2007, 1 p.m.Thanks, pop. I see a many people on here that really don't know the constitution very well at all. It's sad really. People don't know it so they really don't understand what happens when freedoms are restricted and civil liberties rolled back. Once you give them up we do not get them back. We need to return to the constitution just as this article states. It's not just some arbitrary document that is merely a set guidelines, that our government can disregard any time they see fit. Bush stating that this is just a piece of paper. Gonzales stating that "There Is No Express Grant of Habeas Corpus In The Constitution." BS. Here it is right from the constitution: "The privilege of the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in cases of rebellion or invasion, the public safety may require it." Maybe Bush and Gonzales think this country is as stupid as them, but many of us are not.

Organize,help one another povide each others needs( instead of the every mans for himself attitude we have.
Care for one another.
The problem is we put our lives in the hands of another and trust hes going to do whats best for us.
WRONG!They will take advantage of you like the rest.
Make laws that protect your freedoms and libertys from those that want to control and want to charge you for them.
FREEDOM IS FREE! You don't pay for them,,You fight to protect them from those who don't have a right to control them in the first place.
Nobody should be paying anyone for the right to have land.
Land should be ditributed equally,fairly and for free.
People should be intitled to their own land,but shouldn't be able to sell it for a profit.
Same with water and other resources.
We share and work together,help one another to provide whats needed to survive without charging anyone for it.
MONEY is a threat to your freedoms and liberty's.

June 12, 2007, 2:05 p.m.Ive read all the comments and as usual you guys have managed to take a very good article with ligitimate points and turn it into a bash fest that takes away the very meaning of what was being said. We all have our own version of the truth. Steven Colbert's word Truthiness has even been added to the dictonary. Because it is true the truth differs and varies person to person. Unfortunatly our founding fathers left a lot up to us and that has allowed for precident to be set so that people have to debate what should be obvious. But, it is no longer obvious.
As to the comments about immigration let me just say if your not full blooded native american shut your trap they are the only ones that have the right to complain about immigration. We just need to be thankful that we are allowed to be here at all. With the way things are going some international body may decide that the US needs to be split up and the land returned to the Natives. Thats what we did for the Jews.

June 12, 2007, 2:58 p.m.Slightly less dramatic might be offering the power to vote against a candidate.
Ex: You get one vote for the candidate of your choice, and one vote against the candidate who terrifies you.
Unfortunately, the only way to vote against someone right now is to vote against their primary opposition (who might just have other flaws that scare you a little less).

War is a necessary evil. There will always be power hungry people who will kill anyone to obtain power.
