Insurgents in Iraq Turn on Each Other »
Posted by: bobo-in-texas 2 years, 6 months agoThe terrorist offspring of the late Islamist leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi -- who was killed last year -- aren't interested in Iraq as a nation, nor do they care about the plight of the Iraqi people. What they want is the civil war that they've successfully fueled through a series of attacks and suicide bombings.

June 13, 2007, 12:35 a.m.Not content with just slaughtering Infidels, Believers of The Religion of Peace engage in the wholesale killing in of each other and destruction of places of worship... all in the name of the Prophet.
How 7th century.

June 13, 2007, 5:11 a.m.Its a complicated tale indeed, which even on careful reading left my head spinning..
It seems that the situation on the ground is constantly shifting, alliances forming then dissolving.
In the end isn't the biggest problem for the US knowing who they should be supporting and who they should be opposing at any given moment?
One section particularly spoke to me about this aspect.
Quote follows..

June 13, 2007, 5:13 a.m.Terrorism expert Mustafa Alani from the Gulf Research Center in Dubai says the United States has indeed recognized the nationalist part of the insurgency as a force opposed to al-Qaida. But that, he predicts, won't win the war.
"It's too late for that," Alani says. "The insurgency as a whole can sense victory." Although US troops repeatedly manage to establish "islands of relative security" in Iraq, the islands can never be linked together. "The insurgency at this point is like water," he says. "It might flow out of one pool, but then it just appears again in the next one."

June 13, 2007, 5:13 a.m.Seen from this perspective, al-Qaida is on the brink of victory in Iraq. Even if the terror network is defeated militarily, it has gained both prestige and young recruits -- just as it did in Afghanistan -- who will carry on the battle elsewhere. Iraq is still currently a "terror importer," as Alani puts it: The inward flow of jihadists still outnumbers the amount of holy warriors going abroad.

June 13, 2007, 7:05 a.m.It's not surprising that insurgent groups are turning against one another; they are trying to consoldate power. I wouldn't say that this is long term good for "democracy" in Iraq.

June 13, 2007, 12:03 p.m.I think it's time to turn Iraq into an Islamic Israel by declaring the place "Kurdistan", and, pulling the troops out. Yes, the terrorists will praise Allah, but, hey, you can't keep on trying to feed something that continues to bite your hand and will sacrifice it's own children to BITE your hand. Besides, the Kurds are the only ones who seem rational, and, when the whole place is declared as a "greater Kurdistan", the Kurds can be armed, like Israel, to keep order. I say, let the KURDS rule the oil.

June 13, 2007, 1:17 p.m."They kill Iraqi civilians, they kill our imams, they slay honored war veterans. They are a global organization that exists only to destroy Islam's reputation."
Interesting how true that is and how sad it has worked.

June 13, 2007, 10:11 p.m.Hi George. Remember that program you started,"No ignorant minority left behind?" Well, here's a new one,,,"No radical Islamist left behind." We can't let the people in the US know that the war was a bungle from the beginning. And thanks to the CIA we have the two Muslim clerics breaking each others necks while two Border Patrol Agents sit in jail for doing their job.And as for your amnesty program, I would give the illegals three months to flee the US or face a fine of 50,000.00 ,paid in full by your administration and the middle class tax payers. And as for the drug runners getting caught and arrested by Border agents, let's up their award to 100,000.00 each for having the Border agents violating their right to smuggle drugs in the US.Well,George,in closing, lets continue to waste some more billions on a war that was created on "bad Intelligence" Your faithful servant,Johnny Stutton.

Brilliant! Since we're in the middle of this nice brainstorming session, let's say that Dubya, Cheney, and all the other co-defendents in Congress and the Senate of both parties who jumped on the band wagon to let this mess happen, waste millions of tax payer dollars, and commit the greatest fraud on the American public, let's use the Rico Act on them and when they are convicted sieze all of their assets and liquidate them to help pay the war debt they've created (I mean, this IS by definition "organised crime", right?). Hey, it's a thought! Or better yet, use it to fund a Great Wall on our southern border!
