June 13, 2007, 10:59 a.m.From the article:
"The committees can easily obtain the facts they want without a confrontation by simply accepting our offer for documents and interviews,"White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said Wednesday. "But it's clear that Sen. Leahy and Rep. Conyers are more interested in drama than facts))
Why don't i believe that? What about this statement makes me feel like they want the committees to request 'doctored' documents or will receive well rehearsed statements?

June 13, 2007, 11:45 a.m.Just saw this story on CNN--they won't have to answer any question that Bush doesn't want them to.

June 13, 2007, 1:13 p.m.Humm, If there was a bunch of circumstantial evidence that I had robbed the bank down the street, do ya think the cops would agree to an off the record, no transcripts, no recordings informal chat with me. Hell NO! They would show up with a warrant in hand and grill me till they got to the truth.
Mr. Bush, you as President are not ABOVE the law, you are responsible for seeing that it is enforced.

June 13, 2007, 2:05 p.m.Even more egregious than the firing of the US attorneys is the midnight ride to the hospital. That alone should be enough to get Gonzales gone and it points straight to the White House.
The whole gang needs to be gone.

June 13, 2007, 2:17 p.m.Anyone who believes that democrats are trying to invent 'drama' has been paying no attention to anything. So who cares what perino says. The hell with her. The hell with what Ã;ONS think. The hell with what CONS say. I'm sick of their lies, their whining, their attack dog tactics, and their propaganda. Democrats need to NOT respond to this kind of BS, and just do their jobs.

June 13, 2007, 2:32 p.m.I believe that the nomination of Harriet Miers to the Supreme was the ONLY decision Bush has made on his own....and quickly he was reprimanded/reversed....the kabal in the White House has orchestrated everything from day 1 (including voter fraud in order to get Bush into office)....they have to be held accountable....just accepting their word is unacceptable !!

June 13, 2007, 2:38 p.m.I cant believe COnyers and Leahy didn;t take Bush;s spokesman at his word. After all Bush is one of the most truthful Presidents we have ever had......
/sarcasm off
lol, hook Bush up to a lie-detector and you better have a supply of ink cartridges around, the needle would be flying all over the place.

June 13, 2007, 2:42 p.m.The room is full of smoke, and the Bushies can only say that looking for the fire is "political theater."

June 13, 2007, 3:19 p.m.True, as far as it goes. However the Justice Department and the US Attorney's are not to be turned into partisan hitmen whose investigations are directed to persons and issues for the primary purpose of the President's political advantage. The DoJ and the US Attorney's are to enforce the law fairly, evenly and justly regardless of the politics involved, servants of the people at large, not just the large people.

June 13, 2007, 3:34 p.m.You -must- be aware that after being appointed, these people ALSO take an oath to "execute faithfully their duties." I have HEARD one of the fired attorneys explain that the reason he was fired was strictly because he refused to 1) discuss an ongoing investigation with members of the Republican party and 2) refused to "hurry" an indictment against certain Democrats in his state so that the indictments were handed down BEFORE the 2006 elections. It was CRIMINAL to pressure him to do those things. And, it's criminal to fire him because he didn't. Sorry, serving at the request of the President does NOT mean that you may circumvent the laws for his pleasure. It just doesn't, and I'm going to be very angry with you if you suggest that it's OK. Sorry.

June 13, 2007, 5:08 p.m."At the President's pleasure", not at that of Karl Rove, or Monica Goodling.
See the difference?

June 13, 2007, 4:58 p.m.We love our Federal Prosecutors ... and they were fired just before Christmas. So sad.

June 13, 2007, 5:18 p.m.Maybe they want more info regarding the caging of voters that Monica Goodling testified to. Of course it always could be a coincidence that Tim Griffin resigned immediately after news was reported (in Europe, not over here of course...) about his role in that illegal activity.

June 13, 2007, 7:49 p.m.As I have said before, this Congress will be known as the Congress of Investigation, rather than Legislation. What a bunch of losers.

June 13, 2007, 8:13 p.m.The Congress can investigate pretty much anything they want to; oversight of the Executive is one of their roles.
Miers and Stark might have nothing to hide, but it doesn't look good if they don't.
I say let them fight it out in court.

June 14, 2007, 3 a.m.Seeing how no crime has been committed there should be no harm in giving testimony. Just ask Scooter Libby......on second thought..... Was it the Patriot Act that liberals claimed was infringing on our rights or was it trumpt up charges made by Democrats and ultimate prosecution for giving false testimony in the trumpt up case? Chalk one up for the Democrats and zero for the Patriot Act. You need to take the fifth everyone. Bush can fire who he wants to just like Bill Clinton did.

June 14, 2007, 3:16 a.m.Bush fired them because they were too liberal. Clinton fired them because they were too Conservative. Who cares? He is the boss...but that's what bothers them so.....

June 14, 2007, 6:27 a.m.I am so glad they are not wasting their time and our money for political purposes. Perhaps they should do something useful like hmmm their job. Time is running out and they know it. The next election will see a republican congress and president then play time will be over and our government can get back to work .
