June 14, 2007, 9:25 a.m.Is this the hidden agenda of the "justice" department? By supporting the "religious" and thus the base of the Republican party, and at the same time ignoring cases that disenfranchise black voters, they skew elections. What a sad commentary on our nation.
As long as I have lived, I have never understood why anyone wants power over the lives of others. I have enough trouble keeping my own self in line. Why on earth would I want to bother with controlling the lives of others?

June 14, 2007, 12:22 p.m."Intervening in federal court cases on behalf of religion-based groups like the Salvation Army that assert they have the right to discriminate in hiring in favor of people who share their beliefs even though they are running charitable programs with federal money."
I'm all for anti discrimination regarding race, national origin, gender, sexual preference or religion.
However, hiring preferences for a particular religious orientation IS DISCRIMINATION, not the lack of it. Suppose we turn the tables. A federally funded employer happens to have a black CEO. Is it then OK for him to insist that only blacks be haired because preventing him from such discrimination IS discrimination?
The New Republicans have turned the Justice Department into the Injustice Department, bent on one party rule forever. They must be impeached. Keep the hearings going till we get the evidence needed to show these rats for what they are.

Oh lovely, another government agency working outside its mandate.
Us black folk- we better keep an eye out. You never know when we might see again the old man Jim Crow.
