Jon Stewart is right. It would have been a total cop out. I say they should have had Abby from Thirty Something on the show. It could have been a big flashback to that hit series.

I'll bet I'm the only person in North America who never once watched that show.

Watched it for 3 seasons then started watching it only occasionally.

The only ending I would have wanted to see is the typical bloodbath of all of Tony's enemies and then his family offing him.

Love The Daily Show and Colbert Report but I don't watch the Sopranos. There's a couple of guys in my extended family that think they're the hit reality version of that show. No thank you, Lol.

not crazy about Colbert's ending either, but it's a whole lot better than the one that aired. :D

                  funny clip, thanks neo.

Don't watch the Sopranos, but I'm a big, big fan of the Daily Show. Colbert is funny, too, but it's not the Daily Show. I heard the ending of the Sopranos blew, but hey, I never watched it, so how would I know?

Interesting ending; coulda been better, coulda been worse but none the less interesting in that it begged several questions, left to the viewer to ask themself, about the future of T et al.

I love Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, but I have never watched an episode of the "Sopranos." Shocking isn't it? At least the "Sopranos" discussion around water coolers is better and more interesting than discussing who won "American Idol" or whether or not Paris Hilton should go to jail.

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are the best, never got into the Sopranos though.

Stewart and Colbert know how to give another perspective in a humorous way. Love these guys. A friend of mine husband watched the Sopranos and the was very upset with the last show.

Stewert/Colbert and Sopranos are like two different planets!

                                  Two different "civilizations", too!

If the second to the last episode was the last episode, people would be happy because there was so much bloodshed. For eight years we thought of a finale with all out war, and we didn't get one!

The Sopranos ending was fantastic. Thats it, when you die there is no slow mo action replay, a bullet in the back of your head means its all gone. the series was about Tony Soprano and it makes sense when he is gone the series stops.

The end scene mas a masterpiece in suspense, with a lot of tension as a seemingly normal scene played out, but you knew something was going to happen. The scene hinted at the futility of worrying about the bad times when death is the unimaginable nothingness which we all avoid thinking of. Life is good.

So anyhow, yeah...I thought it was great :)

Guess it's time to sit down with a good book.

I don't think I want to get hooked on a series anymore. Will and Grace, the Wonder Years, and now the Sopranos have totally let me down with their endings.

Tony had to die, and any big gun fight etc would of been anti-climatic.

This way got people thinking about the reality of death, rather than the glamorized version on TV normally (see Iraq, Blockbuster films etc)

Its not exciting, its not thrilling, its just nothingness.

I thought Stephen Colbert's alternative ending was imaginative. Have never seen The Sopranos, but like Stewart and Colbert. They rock.
