Earlier this year, the world's top climate scientists released a definitive report on global warming. It is now "unequivocal," they concluded, that the planet is heating up. Humans are directly responsible for the planetary heat wave, and only by taking immediate action can the world avert a climate catastrophe.

You would think, in the wake of such stark and conclusive findings, that the White House would at least offer some small gesture to signal its concern about the impending crisis. It's not every day, after all, that the leading scientists from 120 nations come together and agree that the entire planet is about to go to hell. But the Bush administration has never felt bound by the reality-based nature of science - especially when it comes from international experts. So after the report became public in February, Vice President Dick Cheney took to the airwaves to offer his own, competing assessment of global warming.
"We're going to see a big debate on it going forward," Cheney told ABC News, about "the extent to which it is part of a normal cycle versus the extent to which it's caused by man." What we know today, he added, is "not enough to just sort of run out and try to slap together some policy that's going to 'solve' the problem."

It is no secret that industry-connected appointees within the White House have worked actively to distort the findings of federal climate scientists, playing down the threat of climate change. But a new investigation by Rolling Stone reveals that those distortions were sanctioned at the highest levels of our government, in a policy formulated by the vice president, implemented by the White House Council on Environmental Quality and enforced by none other than Karl Rove. An examination of thousands of pages of internal documents that the White House has been forced to relinquish under the Freedom of Information Act - as well as interviews with more than a dozen current and former administration scientists and climate-policy officials - confirms that the White House has implemented an industry-formulated disinformation campaign designed to actively mislead the American public on global warming and to forestall limits on climate polluters.

Yes, ET ... in short, this administration DOES NOT CARE AT ALL about the environment or about fiscal policy or about poverty or disease or hunger or crime or health care.
The only "fiscal policy" they care about is their own personal "fiscal gains". Everything this administration has done has been only for THEIR personal benefit and for the benefit of their corporate exec crony buddies.
They do not give a cr*p about the American people - the best example of that is their so-called tax cuts, their "war", and their do-nothing stance on the environment and poverty and health care.
As I heard someone on the radio say - this administration has done more damage to this country and to its people and to its government and to its finances than any other administration in our history. IF the country can EVER recover from their disastrous 'management', it will take years and years.

I must ask myself, Are people stupid or are they lying? Well some of them are undoubtedly stupid. Some of them are undoubtedly lying for personal gain. People like Al Gore.
Anybody with an Internet connection, a browser and five minutes to spare can find plenty of qualified scientist who dispute the "stark and conclusive findings" of man made global warming. Unfortunately, when these theories are debunked, and they will be, the publics confidence in threats to our environment based on actual science will be undermined.

The more I hear from the left, the more respect I have for people like Dick Cheney and President Bush. We do not have the worst president in history, we have the worst (most stupid) bunch of people in history. President Carter was the worst in my lifetime by the way. At least when we had our civel war, each side had some honor. Go back to science class and learn what junk science is and how not to be fooled by other fools. Repeated slander does not make anything come true, even in your fairytale lives. Go take another bong load and find some way to be productive. This country deserves so much better.

The IPCC has the same interests as Al Gore. They have no interest in the truth. I don't think any liberal is interested in stark conclusive findings as long as they dispute the predetermined outcome they want to prove. Hey, That is a good discrption of junk science....Now go to the moon and get your chunk of government cheese before the space mice get there....

there's really nothing secret about bush's campaign of denial when it comes to global warming - unless you haven't been paying attention.
and if you follow the money, you'll find the source for most of the anti-global warming propoganda comes from Big Oil, exxonmobil in particular. they fund most of the "studies" that deny global warming.
but what else did you expect from an administration that has people with oil tankers named after them (like condi rice's chevron tanker) and installs Big Oil people into powerful positions abroad (like karzai in afghanistan)?

They want power over all the stupid people in the world that can't figure anything out for themsleves. You know the one's that don't have an original thought. Then when they control the majority, they control the money, then the world. The pay-off now is an easy job finding data that supports their cause and ignoring all that does not. They already have the job at the IPCC, they just have so many more positions to fill in order to keep more money coming in and more stupid people believing them. Here is your paycheck, this is what you say to get it...your education is not needed to find the truth, only to know what you are saying. Not to hard to figure out.

I think I would have to agree with Gotitright.. But on another level half you wouldnt know the truth if it smacked you in the face!!! All the scientist that have debunked this theory have been chastized and have lost their jobs because it doesnt follow the "Agenda".. Now they say oh ITS GLOBAL COOLING!! Well make up your damn minds morons... I mean what is it, are we warming or cooling..... So far Ive found enough data to suppor that we are now cooling.... WHICH ONE!!!

Modern Hitters do not kill their own people the way the Hitler did, but they do it by bringing, intimidating and threatening legalizations to make them, spineless. Americans in their own country will have to face the same type of dictators because they elected them and this particular leader is elected twice. You don't need to be punished for doing what you think is your right but just pass a law to curtail that right itself is enough to frighten you to death.

What is always amazing is that despite reams of research and information that humans are impacting global warming there is still the denial from the right wing. When you start to look at the counterinfomration they poresent its got ties back to the oil industry or govt manipulations (that was the best when Bush had reports doctored to downplay the human interactions, yet that had almost no effect on the 20%'ers). According to scientists the point of no return is approaching and you can bet if its reached and we go over the same right wingers who today claim its nonesense will be shouting long and loud that somehow this is all Bill Clintons fault.

Decreasing the salinity in the North Atlantic (with melt water) could distrupt the Atlantic Conveyor, and this could have global climate implications ... including cooling. Yes, iwant5000dollars, this line of thought suggests warming could lead to cooling. Much stranger things have happened. I have 5000 dollars.

Were there 7 billion humans inhabiting the earth and 100 million automobiles, 13 million polluting corporate smokestacks, mercury in the water, asbestos and thousands of other toxins buried in the earth with 40billion metric tons of nuclear waste and billions of gallons of oil waste in the ocean at the time??
