July 2, 2007, 6:03 p.m....just another contemptible act brought to you by the contemptible President George W. Bush...Sen. Leahy, where have you been for almost seven years? He's been contemptible since he was elected by the Supreme Court!

July 2, 2007, 6:16 p.m.not only did W assist in the outing of a CIA agent for political purposes, but now he gives cover to the one guy that was being held accountable.

July 2, 2007, 6:16 p.m.This sucks.
Now I have to cancel my shipment of "Pooter Libby" jokes.
Oh well, I'll make it up with my "The Scoot is loose!!!" bumper stickers.

July 2, 2007, 6:18 p.m.There are probably a few million other "justice obstructors" in prison awaiting his next commutation. They'd best not hold their breath.

July 2, 2007, 6:20 p.m.Oh MY GOD! This man has nothing better to do than let a KNOWN liar free? This is the biggest bunch of crap. But of course NEOCON(artist)s are going to blame the left and the media for him being locked up in the first place. This is a TRAVESTY.

July 2, 2007, 6:23 p.m.What else should we expect? GW takes care of his friends. They can do anything they want and get away with it. Just shows how totally corrupt our government is. Money talks and if someone has enough money and influence they can buy freedom. Sickening.
Does the word "impeachment" have any meaning any more?
Tricky Dickie was a saint compared to "shrub jr".

July 2, 2007, 6:22 p.m.Why should we expect any less from the Felon-in-Chief?
The senior members of this Administration are *all* criminals, interested in serving only their own ends, with no consideration for the law unless they can bend it to serve those ends.
If, on the other hand, the law restricts them in any way, they consider it nothing more than an inconvenience to be circumvented or disregarded at their whim.
This is just another example of the shrub's utter contempt for the rule of law.

July 2, 2007, 6:22 p.m.Another despicable act to show the average America that different standards for different Americans apply. The upper crust and elitist have won another round while the citizen is relegated to a lower status within our society. George Bush is evil and Cheney dictates the agenda.
Please someone begin a campaign to march on Washington D.C. from every state in the nation to rid ourselves of one and a half more years of despicable leadership. Now I cringe when I say leadership, there is no word that can describe the abysmal corrupt political agenda this administration has perpetrated against the American people.
America now under Bush stands for, "Class distinction" and the average American should not stand for Bush/Cheney one more day. Eradicate both of them through the mandate of the majority.

July 2, 2007, 6:25 p.m.There is no doubt that Scooter had enough dirt on Cheney and Bush to write one hi dollar book that would have given all of the evidence needed to impeach both of the war crimes kings, so what else could they do. By commuting the sentence Bush hopes that the public won't think he pardoned him, but what is the difference really. So he has a criminal record, who really cares amongst the people he will be working for to keep him quiet. Now he gets to go on and make the big bucks, probably as a lobbyist or perhaps he will get his own TV show like Ollie North. The soldier that falls on his sword gets to rise to riches in politics.
So what is really new this time around?

July 2, 2007, 6:27 p.m.I guess this is not surprising with his approval ratings already in the tank, what does he have to lose? He's a eunuch with a bully pulpit. No more fast track free trade, immigration bill tanked, the war going worse than ever.
He's become a much more dangerous man than he was when he thought people liked him.
At least a few people will remember him fondly...Cheney, Gonzales, Libby....

July 2, 2007, 6:27 p.m.Executive privilege has its drawbacks. Between Clinton's pardoning of a couple hundred felons before he left office and now GWB adding one more I'm wondering if it's safe to venture outside. (Sarcasm intended.)

July 2, 2007, 6:29 p.m.Like anyone should be surprised by this, this is business as usual on the beltway. They always take care of their own, Bush is doing it, Clinton did it and so on. This is why we need to reform our political parties. Both are ripe with corruption. For some time is has been Government by the Government for the Government instead of by the people for the people.

July 2, 2007, 6:29 p.m.Hey Republicans is this what you had in mine when you blindly voted for a man who couldn't even spell his own name? No wonder he was meeting with PUTIN, Bush was getting advice on running a "DICK"tatorship. Oh and I can't wait for the CLinton comparisons. Since that's what you always do when this man p!sses on the country.

July 2, 2007, 6:31 p.m.So out of curiosity, can he get his old job back?
It shouldn't be to hard to fill in the box that is prefaced by, "Have you ever been convicted of a crime more serious than a moving violation? If yes, please explain.", with something satisfactory.

July 2, 2007, 6:30 p.m.What colossal political cynicism. What kind of message of favorism does this send? What does Scooter know that this administration doesn't want tested behind bars?

I don't know where you've been hiding, but 3 strikes, mandatory minimums, and CRASH units here in CA sure has put them away. My question is, How can you support treasoness behavior?

July 2, 2007, 6:36 p.m.its about time mr president--libby was a good man and a patriot who was railroaded by an out of control vindictive prosecutor--and unlike clinton who pardoned the people he did as he slunk out of office..bush did this when it was needed..with no real personal political benefit--just because it was the right thing to do--now the appeals can continue without the threat of prison for this fine man--let the negative comments begin
-

ningyo
July 2, 2007, 6:40 p.m.and now we have chucky schumer running to the press to decry the commutation--too bad chuckles..the president has the absoloute right to do this-better late than never--this was schumers ballgame from the start and that should be the next thing we get a special prosecutor to deal with
-
