July 4, 2007, 6:13 p.m.Libby was not convicted for outing a CIA agent but for perjury. The Presidents pardon spares him only from a long prison sentence for doing the same thing that Clinton did (but was not prosecuted for). While lying under oath is a serious crime for anyone it is not on the same level with the child pornographers and drug traffickers that Clinton pardoned during his presidency. Clintons pardon of the FALN terrorist in 1999, who were serving time for sedition and conspiracy, is a great indicator of his lack of concern for domestic terror. Clemency for the FALN had been denied by his own Justice Department but for some reason he saw fit to release 16 convicted terrorist.

July 5, 2007, 12:51 a.m.Talk about the pot calling the kettle black but then I don't expect the Clinton's to be anything but what they are. Hypocrites, liars, and both should go hide someplace and fade away.

July 5, 2007, 3:50 a.m.Just dont see your guys issue with Clinton on this. Im not defending the pardons he gave, some were pretty screwed up. But the fact of the matter is, Clinton DID NOT pardon or commute the sentence of someone in his administration for commiting a crime while working for you and I.
This is something only republican Presidents have done over the last 30 years. They always pardon or commute sentences of people who they had break the law. Just look at the Bush Sr Pardons of Iran-Contra players. Bush Jr, even hired 3 people involved with that in his own administration lol

July 5, 2007, 1:35 p.m.Bush's pardon just bought Libby off from testifying against Bush in future proceedings. That's the difference between Clinton and Bush. Clinton didn't pardon anyone who was directly involved in a case that possibly included him. You won't find many smart Conservatives on this sight...or in the Bush administration...or in Washington...or anywhere else except JAIL. Oh wait, they've been pardoned.

July 5, 2007, 2:44 p.m.Finally, a post where it's appropriate to point out the democratic hypocrisy involved in outrage over the Libby pardon. Yes, this REEKS of hypocrisy. Not by all democrats, but by Bill Clinton.
"Pardons for sale, tuppence a bag!"
If you're going to use the pardon/commutation power (which shouldn't exist in the first place), don't go complaining when others do it, Bubba!
Each and every American should be disgusted by the commutation of Libby's sentence, and should also have been disgusted by the torrent of pardons issued by Clinton at the end of his term.
This "power" of the president's is just waiting for abuse and should not exist. At MOST, the president should be able to grant one additional appeal if the situation merits it.
The president is not the king, nor is he God, and rarely is he qualified as a Judge of Law. Why give him those powers?

July 5, 2007, 3:30 p.m.why do you use BJ as a pejorative? what r u afraid of? good old fashioned puritan values i guess, huh?
the difference is that the president bush's office threw CIA agents under the wheels for political gain, but you aren't mad about that because....

July 5, 2007, 5:26 p.m.As usual, a chance for hypocrites to come out and bash each other. Can anyone say "integrity"? Two wrongs do not necessarily make a right. Two rights make a right. And, I am still trying to figure out, didn't V.P.'s husband, an ambassador working for the Pres discuss with the Press his differences with the Pres regarding U.S.Policy? Didn't he have an obligation to talk with the Pres?? Just wondering?

July 5, 2007, 5:27 p.m.But for Bill Clinton to be giving lectures on integrity?? Puh-leese.

July 8, 2007, 8:22 a.m.I watched a true story film about a lady sent to prison for life in prison because her live-in boyfriend was dealing drugs in and/or around her house. As part of his and his fellow cohorts plea deals they testified that she was fully aware of his dealings.
This was part of the "War on Drugs" program at the time. After serving more than 10 or so years, her sentence along with a few other female "felons" in the same boat were finally commuted by Bill Clinton when he was leaving office. If this was not a case of using Presidential Clemency powers wisely then I don't know what is.

July 9, 2007, 11:09 a.m.I know a lie is a lie, but there has to be degrees that can be seen. I mean is a lie that a 20 yr old says he didn't cheat on a college test the same as a person who robbed a bank at gunpoint and saying he didn't? If both were proven to have lied, they both lied, yes. Their actions of what they lied about entirely different. Now how silly would it be if the bank robber was pointing the finger at the person who cheated on a test and lied??? I think it perfectly fine for the college person to call out a bank robber that is lying.
