Bruce Riedel, a former CIA official and a Middle East expert, said, "...our intelligence on Al Qaeda in Iraq is not what we want it to be."

Even if the US and it's military is being played like a fiddle by Al Queda, this surge ought to prove one thing about Bush's new policy...

    "Old wine, new bottle."

It's like three card monte in the middle east.

"The struggle between the American military and Qaeda affiliate in Iraq is political as well as military. And one purpose of the briefing Wednesday seemed to be to rattle the 90 percent of the group's adherents who are believed to be Iraqi by suggesting that they are doing the bidding of foreigners."

"An important element of the American strategy is to drive a wedge between Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia, other insurgent groups and the Sunni population"

We will be the last to know.

luvmyprez: "We're not the ones who made him up"

That is true, but it took about a year to discover that he'd never existed. What that shows is that there is a thick wall between the US troops and the Iraqi population, and that information is not flowing. Without the help of the Iraqis, the mission is doomed.

Yes, my idiot friend, Al Qaeda made him up, and the CIA bought the whole thing, hook, line and sinker.

They even claimed to have killed a fictional character. Who will they kill next, Mickey Mouse?

Yeah. That's what we SAY. Just like Bush likes to claim now that Saddam is dead that it was SADDAM who was claiming to have weapons of mass destruction. And you probably believe that too.

But our intelligence believed it. Bush put it out there before confirming it. He needed a boost so put out that there was some bad guy who got caught.

If I didn't have a reason to not trust a word that comes out of the White House, I would certainly look at this as someone elses fault. But because we have been lied to so many times, I can't help but think that Cheney and Bush had something to do with making sure the story got out.

Thank God some journalists didn't sell their souls to Bush.

                  Hey Acer,

I guess you didn't get the memo of the many foiled attempts by these "ghost terrorist" that don't really exist...You know the "ghosts" that supposedly tried to blow up JFK airport? Or how about the recent group of radical muslim docs over in the UK who tried to kill more innocents...Train wreck in India ? Was that a fairy tale, too ACER ? Hmmmmmm....How about the other attempt that was foiled recently where they tried to blow up some airplanes over the Atlantic coming over from the UK to America...Did you miss that one, too ?

It seems to me that losers like you are the "fairytales"... non-existent morons that are just unbelievably in denial...A mushroon cloud could be going off over your city and you would swear it was outdated pyro...

If I were Bush, I would have made OBL wonder what happened to his Iraqi branch. Hook the man up to some serious amps and see how long it takes to answer the one question, "Where is OBL?"

No answer, and just keep the amps on until it looks like he is going to expire. Get a little rest, and hook him up again.

The image of the US military should be so fearful that no one in his right mind would ever dare cross the USA. Kicking ass and taking names is a successful tactic. Wondering if some country likes you is some wimp ass, wuss, puss-y, response from a wimp ass, wuss, puss-y. When you want respect, fear is the fastest way to get it. On the battle field or the corporate ladder, a fearsome leader gets the job done without the hand wringing, hand holding, endless explaining, and political correctness so coveted by wimps, wusses and the limp wristed.

In other words, the US should stand up and be manly, macho and fearsome.

Another black eye on how a small group of terrorist thwart the intelligence agencies and this U.S. conservative war.

How many more years of abysmal leadership from all sectors of the Bush administration? No, perfection is never attainable but with four and a half years of insanity, reality never rears its head. We Americans continue to bestow leadership on a man who has led us to "What"?

Our leadership role is now a mirage except in the small minds of our Nationalistic neocons in America. Get out of Iraq now, the Iraqi's do not want us, most Americans don't want our involvement, the world despises our brute strength dictation meddling, yet here we are, still involved in lunacy.

Bush/Cheney are totally without morality and scruples.

Makes you wonder who else is a fictional character(Osama, al Zawahiri ,et al).An intelligence community that can read a street sign from outer space but can't find some guy in the mountains who is living in the sixth century. OBL seems to always come out with a new video whenever GW is under heavy pressure. If the pressure gets too great for GW you can almost count on another 9/11 coming.Lets hope not but our "faulty" intelligence is already suggesting it.

America's war on terrorism is a complete fabrication. in fact, it is a pretext for a permanent NWO wars of conquest serving the interests of Wall Street and the financial community, the US military industrial complex, Big Oil, and all other corporate interests profiting hugely from a massive scheme harming the public interest, in the name of protecting it.
