Posted by: bobo-in-texas 2 years, 4 months agoRepublicans have been demanding that the lawsuit protections be added in a conference committee meeting to reconcile the House and Senate versions of what has been dubbed the "9/11 bill." The committee, of which Coleman is a member, adjourned Thursday without taking up the proposal.

July 22, 2007, 2:55 p.m.The poster pretty much says it all. The Party of retreat and surrender has found yet another way to put our nation's security at risk.

July 22, 2007, 9:08 p.m.Ok. Let me see; the US govt want me to watch other people and report suspicious activity. It sounds like to me that I need to be watching the govt closer for nefarious and or suspicious activity.

July 22, 2007, 9:23 p.m.There are slander and libel laws to handle spurious accusations against innocent parties. But if, as in the case of the Flying Imans, citizens can be sued for common sense concerns about atypical behavior, we might as well roll out the red carpet to Al Qaeda

July 22, 2007, 11:50 p.m.Just what are the democrats doing, but wasting money. And now I know that they will have to have a hearing on this, lets say 500 million dollars; no make that 2 million dollars. You know they are famous for sitting on their back sides doing nothing all year long, and wasting money.
How about the side stepping of the LAWS OF OUR LAND; and yet the peoples keep putting them into Government offices.
Well the Republican and democrats are just fronts for the bureaucracy. That word Bureaucracy just means all those little people you can not fire because their jobs are for the life of them. No wonder we in the United States have so much troubles, and so little money. Have a nice day u'all

July 22, 2007, 11:56 p.m.All these things, Spying on your own citizens thru secret wire-taps, encouraging citizens to spy on each other, excessive claims of Executive Privilege, it all shows a cabal of insecure and easily-frightened "Leaders"!
Of course, the fact that they came to power by less than straightforward means, engineered by a college-dropout Senior Presidential Advisor, who's giving Joseph Goebels a run for his money in Propaganda and deviousness may have something to do with their frightened approach to Life, Politics, and Administering Public Policy...

July 23, 2007, 9:04 a.m.Ah, if only we could all find some way to respect each other on this issue.
For example, if I saw Arabs doing something suspicious, like laying explosive charges around the site of the Democratic National Convention right before the convention convened, I guess most of the libs on this site would not want me to report on them.
And I probably would gleefully honor their wishes.
On the other hand, I would hope the Libs would honor the Conservatives wishes and report the Arabs if they were trying to do the same thing to the site of the Republican National Convention. I suspect they would not only NOT respect our wishes, but actually help their Arab buddies.

July 23, 2007, 9:32 a.m.I'm torn on this issue.
It was not a democratic vote to throw anybody off the plane, it was a decision made by the airline. Did those in charge hear the reports by some, observe those reported about, and then toss them off the plane? Or was the toss based solely upon hearsay? Seems like the airline is the one liable.
Then again there is such a thing as slander, which is wrong. But how many reports were there total? Again how did the airline deem the reports credible?

July 23, 2007, 10:33 a.m.The article could not be opened.
Want to read something about the World Trade Center that is fresh and honest? Even those radical news agencies, the fringe of reportage deliberately never mentioned some of the stuff I am mentioning because it is in their best interests.
So without further ado, read me on netscape.net. It is nothing stuffy like crash mechanics. The news is a lie... If you lost someone in the WTC or have someone in Afghanistan or Iraq, read me on netscape. You owe it to yourself.

July 23, 2007, 12:30 p.m.Hey Aniokly, I'm sure glad that you weren't here in OKC April 19, 1995 when Tim and his Ryder truck would have just slipped by you because he wasn't a foreigner. A blond headed, blue eyed american striking back at the FBI, Janet Reno and the Clinton Adninistration. Years of association with ultra right-wing idiots convinced him that by killing 168 men women and above all 19 children would bring about the "changes this country so desparately needed." In fact, he believed that you and your ilk would see the bombing as a modern Lexington & Concord and join in the fight. I sifted through that rubble in April of 95 looking for the pieces of Oklahomans that were the victims of the lunacy of the right. So you just keep looking for the "foreighers." I've seen the face of evil and cleaned up evil's mess and that face came from the right not the left.

July 23, 2007, 12:56 p.m.Article sunk on account that it is hard to read, extremely biased, and poorly named.
Democrats don't want you to shut up. Democrats want you to be able to speak out and seek compensation if you're falsely accused!
That being said, lawsuit protections should be written into a whole lot more than just this 'watchdog act'. They should be written into living rooms and yards across the country. Just because your kid is too clumsy and falls down and hurts himself at the neighbors' place, it doesn't mean that the neighbors are responsible.

July 23, 2007, 1:15 p.m.Dear Bushies:
I have a message for you from God:
Exodus 20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
and,
Proverbs 19:9 A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.

July 23, 2007, 1:49 p.m.Well ani, Pat Ryan, one of McVeigh's prosecutors, a republican appointed US attorney and a friend of mine also lost friends in the bombing. He will tell you straight up who was responsible for the bombing and it was not foreign agents. I have no idea who MEMRI is and don't really give a damn. I am abundantly aware of the right, to this day, looking for anything with which to link this tragedy. So far, no good! You are just another in a long line of potential militia members willing to do whatever it takes to push your sick, twisted agenda on the rest of us. Unfortunately for this country and those who cherish it and freedom, this administration is aiding and abetting those of you who threaten it.

July 23, 2007, 2:36 p.m.Ani, I wouldn't give your opinion a second thought except I have seen first-hand where that opinion leads and quite frankly, I don't ever want to see it again. I might also add that you and those who want to possess handguns to protect your homes and families, you go right ahead and protect them with your pistols, I'll use my 12 gage and re-decorate my walls. I carry a handgun every day because I wear a target but it damned sure wouldn't be my first choice to use if I had another option.
