Posted by: mntnman444 2 years, 4 months ago

The Hinchley-Rorabacher Amendment suffered a devastating defeat in congress this week. The bill would have prevented the DEA from prosecuting terminally ill patients for using their legal medicine.Republicans and Democrats alike showed their ignorance and utter lack of compassion for the weakest citizens in our society.

Here is a link for people to write their congressmen and either thank them for having the courage and good sense to support this bill or to chastise their representatives for not supporting the will of the people. There has been consistent 80% support from the public to allow dying patients to use the medicine that works best for them.

Many politicians use the DEA's false claim that marijuana has no medical value to justify prosecuting terminally ill patients.

Here is what the DEA says about marijuana's medical value and safety.Pages 56-60 say it all...

Well they are just a bunch of idiots, plain and simple!

Wonder how they would feel if it were one of their family members or themselves.

All the while they are all probably smoking pot in secrecy. Much like the Foley, Haggard situation, 'it's ok as long as we don't get caught', and they are constantly getting caught.

          This just makes me mad!

I am outraged at my congressmen! Chris Cannon (R) UT is to be expected to vote this way,and of course,he is listed in the top ten most crooked politicians but Jim Matheson (D) UT has some explaining to do.

The bill will be submitted again and this time I hope citizens will take the time to educate their representatives since it seems they have no interest in educating themselves.

I'm stunned that so many CA democrats voted against it, when Californians made medical marijuana legal years ago! I expected the CONS to vote against it, but not democrats. I think I'll write letters to the papers in all those democrats' districts. Wouldn't want those constituents to miss that their politicians voted against their wishes. Got a few letters to write in my own state, as well.

I am so outraged at this that I have not only written my congressmen,I have also called them to express my outrage. These clowns should be ashamed of themselves!

And can you imagine...William Jefferson (D) LA,you know,Mr "cold cash" himself, voting to put dying people in prison...a place where he himself belongs!

To all the flamers out there who label me as a democrat-this is exactly why I am NOT a democrat!I gave up supporting them twenty years ago for being cowards on this issue and they have shown me yet again that they are not in the business of protecting the little guy, they are only in the business of getting reelected by going with the flow.

The time for a third choice has never been more urgent.

I have been supporting Ron Paul because he seems to be the most concerned about getting this country on the right track and getting the federal govt off the peoples back.

There is a new group called Unity08 who are going to choose a unity ticket for president,I hope everyone will check them out.

Meanwhile, the FDA is willing to approve untested medications for the terminally ill.Marijuana has been used as medicine for 5000 years,I think you could say that it has been tested, and with not one single death in all that time,I think you could say that it is even safer than FDA approved medicines that have been tested.

MountainMan, I like you more and more. Your posts reflect a dude who was there. I respect anyone who has been there, cool friend. They know the truth, and not afraid to post it.

After my stroke in '98, I made a promise to myself. If I somehow survived the stroke AND regained my nasty-ass brain, I would never hide the truth from anyone. Be they Democrat or Republican, good or evil, right or left, high or low. I've not broken my word, my cool friend. Like you, I believe everyone deserves the truth. That's the mark of a man, dude!!! A man whom I would respect in a heart-beat.

That is sadly lacking in the Republican party. How they can take Bush's lies' beyond my fried brain to manage.

                      Peace...

Post script: There is a legal grass store across the street from our cookware store. When Bush had his federalies raid our stores, our cool mayor and DA both told the feds they would not prosecute ANY ARREST. They went so far as to say they didn't have any legal standing -- that this was a California issue, not a federal one.

Pi**ed poor George to the bone being told he was interferring with our legal right to help those in pain. Having said that, my friend, I'm toking some of our Mountain grown as I merrily post. I can legally toke because of that damned stroke. I used it to relearn how to talk again, to walk again, to write again. I'm a living example of what tetrahydrocannabinol can do for fried brains Peace...

If someone is terminally ill why do we care if they take the weed? What difference does it make? Do we need to waste taxpayers money to prosecute these people?

I don't recall where I heard this, but somebody said that if they took away the name, "marijuana", and gave it a new name - still marijuana, just different name - it would most likely be given a seal of approval. No problem. There is just too much stigma with that word, marijuana.

Now,here is the real reason marijuana was outlawed...straight from the first "drug czars" mouth in testimony to congress...
