Bush signs bill to expand wiretap powers »
Posted by: TechnologyExpert 2 years, 4 months agoPresident Bush on Sunday signed into law an expansion of the government's power to eavesdrop on foreign terror suspects without the need for warrants. The law, approved by the Senate and the House just before Congress adjourned for its summer break, was deemed a priority by Bush and his chief intelligence officials.

It would be nice to believe that there is, for example, a democrat strategy to keep their powder dry for a real BIGGIE. [Not that this isn't important but as I understand it they're extending a programme that already exists for a short term - a let's not deal with it right now scenario..]

Aug. 5, 2007, 9:48 p.m.Once again, the US Congress rolls over and take the role once held by Prime Minister Tony Blair as GW's lap dog. Seriously, we have got to stop Congress from handing away any more rights. Ben Franklin once noted (and I paraphrase) that a society which gives up liberty for security has neither.
