Arkansas AG Rejects Bid for Gay Adoption Ban »

Arkansas's attorney general said Wednesday he will reject a proposed voter-backed initiative aimed at barring unmarried couples from adopting or fostering children. A conservative group hoped to use the ban to keep gay couples from becoming foster parents.

This is a temporary victory in Arkansas, though by no means is it the end of the line for this nonsense put forth by the Family Council. All goes well, they will be rejected when they resubmit.

Family Council? Focus on the Family? Why don't these types of groups call themselves by a more clearly defining name? Maybe "The Ignorant Bigoted Christian Conservative Homophobes"?

A few years back friends (two white women) were fostering several children of different races. Someone in child services decided the black baby they were caring for needed to be with a black couple, for "ethnic bonding". Within three months the black couple had abused the child to death.
I've never understood why some self-righteous people think they are the know-all and end-all when it comes to raising children. As far as I'm concerned, having raised four kids of my own, anyone who is willing to take on the responsibility, challenges and heartaches of raising a child someone else has abandoned or damaged, deserves a medal or a ticker-tape parade. It shouldn't matter whether they're straight, gay or single.
You can bet the majority of people comprising this "Family Council" aren't adoptive or foster parents. They're too busy trying to make rules for everyone else.

My attitude is that until these Family Values folks start adopting more kids themselves, they should shut up about others who aren't part of their tribal rights providing kids in need with loving homes.

Is it not amazing that the pseudo-christians would rather see a child remain in the foster care system, moved from home to home, unadopted, rather than in a loving home with gay parents.
They would rather punish a child than admit they just might be wrong.
The horrible things we do to children!!!!!!

Their need to adamantly stand behind their claims of dislike for anyone who isn't like them has gone to a place that puts children in harms way and they STILL continue to spread their hatred! Who is really the bad guy here? A loving, happy person who's goal is to mold a child into a loving, happy adult? Or a judgemental bigot who is filled with hate, claiming their hatred comes from God (someone who we tell children loves everyone)? Well, that answer is obvious to us, and somehow I feel they all KNOW the right answer too. They just can't step back and say "We are wrong". They'd rather destroy our future then admit that.

I am all for bringing back large group homes for these kids so they can live in one place until 18.
If done with love and concern it could be a great environment for kids.
They just need to put the money there.

Is it fair to say, putting an innocent child in a home where two Homosexuals who may need Mental Illness Consoling to figure out what gender they want to be, is really not in the Best interest of the Child???
Imagine a HOMOsexual with a Normal Mother/Father, wife and children, enjoying attending HOMOsexual Parades and may even be a Teacher, in control of an innocent Child...
HoMosexuals with a specific Agenda may Not act in the best Interest of a Child...
