This Psalm of David, is a direct rebuttal to those whom pretend that men of faith allow evil to treat them as a door mat.
To the Liberal crowd, go and carry on with your pretensions.
Same RESISTANCE has applications both OLD and NEW Testaments of the Bible.
Until the human spirit is prepared for battle in the supernatural; the mind and body can not accurately wage war in the natural.
"Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls about like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world."

1 Samuel, 13:22 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave their testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.
David kills 200 Philistines and brings their foreskins to Saul to buy his first wife (Saul's daughter Michal). Saul had only asked for 100 foreskins, but David was feeling generous. 18:25-27, 1 Samuel
