Is anyone else intrigued Ã;¢ââ;;¬" or alarmed Ã;¢ââ;;¬" by the level of anti-Muslim sentiment spewing from elected U.S. officials these days? During my recent trip to the States, I was taken aback at how acceptab

Certainly a backlash against Muslims, Arabs, and Islam is taking place in this country. Where can we draw the line? When will it be known that our own prejudices are surpassing our common sense in these matters?

And you're not surprised. Look, America is a racist country. Europeans came here and built a majority of it on the backs of stolen Africans, Chinese, Mexicans and not least of all the Native peoples.

Don't take my word for it, listen to American talk radio. You got a dude, O'Reily, who's surprised that Blacks can own and operate a NORMAL resturant, another dude, Imus, who calls women of color nappy headed hoe's, the Jena 6, Conway & Whitman's radio bit called "What the hell is Jesse Jackson saying" and so forth. Hell, this is the only country that asks for your race when you apply for jobs. What's up with that?

I only have one thing to say on this subject (we all know that I'm lying when I say that):

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

Anything else just doesn't make sense.

Apparently there is enough hatred to go around for every minority group in America. The most popular scapegoats currently are Arab Muslims. Who's next?

I know it's not surprising that grave injustices occur, but why am I always surprised?

We are genetically hard wired to be "tribal". Different cultures will not survive together for the long run. Might as well get it over now.

I'm white a Anglo-Saxon older male. I feel no genetic predisposition to disrespect any other group. I had the privilege of voting for Keith Ellison here in Minneapolis and so far he has been a liberal, hardworking and thoughtful legislator. Go Keith.

Let's see... in the Middle East on Friday's they leave the Mosque chanting "Death to America" other times they dash from their house of worship to stab as many Christians as they can depending on how the imam fires them up.

Those crazy Muslims, gotta love 'em.

If there seems to be increased hatred and racial animosity in this country, all fingers must be pointed to the team of Dubya and Cheney, who - despite the historic admonition by FDR! - embarked on fearmongering as national policy!

A great nation, like we once were, would have answered 9/11 with understated resolve and steely adherence to its vaunted Constitution - not with a barrage of bluster and saberrattling (to mask a couple of spastic sphincters in high places).....

If mosques weren't grand, but, small, would they be called "mosquitoes"? Whatever ever the case, they'd STILL probably be secretly seeking the blood of those they perceive as infidels. For one thing, most mosques are funded by wahabbi types, which OBL is one.

People need to just relax a bit and not take things so seriously. Who cares if some politician isn't 100% politically correct. It's nice for a change when one of them says what most of the country probably believes. Who cares if the country doesn't recognize every holiday such as Ramadan or whatever.

Too many Mosques, Synagogues, Churches, and Temples, but not enough love and understanding. As usual, man is his own worst enemy.

As you can see the point I made in the beginning of this story rings true. The ramblings of these people are based on hate. So I ask again. Where do you draw the line? When will it be known that our own prejudices are surpassing our common sense in these matters?

i know from personal experience (working within a 'community centre' (another example of what im about to say) that Mosques are used as a way of getting around taxation and a way of gaining free cash from the government and sometimes a way of laundering monies... OMG did someone in the know actually say that... yes i did! the same can be said of 'community centres' and 'micro business centres' for example one Mr Hussein got 50% funding to rebuild his house as a business expense... WTF!

Religious establishments are run by human beings not God. Most of them, if not all, are guilty of money laundering etc. Some churches are guilty of child & sexual abuse as well. As much as I would love to believe all religous establishments are soleley dedicated to God and God's goodness and blessings most are not. Welcome to the real world.
