Posted by: STONERS 2 years agoThose things that go bump in the night? About one-third of people believe they could be ghosts. And nearly one out of four, 23 percent, say they've actually seen a ghost or felt its presence, finds a pre-Halloween poll by The Associated Press and Ipsos.

Oct. 26, 2007, 9:59 a.m."About one out of five people, 19 percent, say they accept the existence of spells or witchcraft. Nearly half, 48 percent, believe in extrasensory perception, or ESP."
"The most likely candidates for ghostly visits include single people, Catholics and those who never attend religious services. By 31 percent to 18 percent, more liberals than conservatives report seeing a specter."

Oct. 26, 2007, 11:18 a.m.Thanks for the post, STONERS.
I have had a 'passing' interest in Ghosts and 'the other side' (?) since high school - I wrote my very first term paper about Ghosts for senior English (college prep). I got a bunch of books from the nearest University library, and after reading them I didn't want to turn off my bedroom light at night for a while.
The SciFi program "Ghost Hunters" has renewed my interest, and I am a big fan of that series. They have been able to capture, on video and on audio, some very intriguing and otherwise 'unexplainable' images and voices from their investigations.
By the way, the Ghost Hunters are doing a "live" investigation on Halloween night. They are returning to the Waverly Hills Sanatorium, a vacated structure that has a huge reputation for 'hauntings'. The TAPS team captured some 'evidence' on their previous visit.

Oct. 26, 2007, 12:27 p.m.I get an eerie 'feeling' from time to time, you know, a feeling that someone is in the room with you*
Even as I'm typing this the hair is starting to stand on the back of my neck* The recollections even give me the willies! LOL!

Oct. 26, 2007, 1:29 p.m.If you ever see a ghost, walk right up and shake hands with it.
I know no one wants to hear this, but ask me if I care what you want to hear! The first lie recorded is, "You will not surely die." People still buy into that lie today. Know the truth and be free!
Benign? No such thing! Absolutley nothing you want to be around! Paralell universe? Perhaps that is as good as any non-religious answer the world has. On the religious front, thought, Satan has lots of lies to feed you. Immortality is just one.

Oct. 26, 2007, 2:58 p.m.I find four-leaf clovers ALL the time. I've found thousands of 'em over the years. It's just a mutated gene, nothing superstitious. About 1 out of 10,000 clovers are four-leafed. If you find one, the chances that you'll find another in the same spot are good, as they grow on runners. I pick them and give them away to strangers I pass on the street. Lol. It's amazing how many people have never seen one.
I also talked to a dead guy once, using a Ouija board. The article didn't mention Ouija boards, though. More about that should be looked into.

Oct. 26, 2007, 3:15 p.m.You can't spell beLIEf without the word LIE, if ghosts were real, no belief would be needed. I am always distrustful about things that need to be believed, what's wrong with expecting compelling evidence? If ghosts were as common as some claim, surely that compelling evidence would have been discovered by now. Ghosts should, by some accounts, be less rare than giant squids, yet belief in giant squids isn't required, why? Because we have compelling evidence for giant squids.

Oct. 26, 2007, 4 p.m.I've lived in haunted houses since I was 7 years old. This wasn't the "typical house settling" sounds. You could hear foot steps (we're talking big steel toed work boot steps) and then the ever popular things moving of their own accord. They love electronics too. Ever hear something weird on the answering machine? Something you just couldn't define? Sometimes that is them playing, letting you know they are there. You get the usual cold spots too. Anywho, that's my two cents so everyone have a safe and happy halloween! BOO!!!

Oct. 26, 2007, 9:52 p.m.We tore down a old house in the yard that we live in and built a new one on the same site, when they poured the basement there was one area that the concrete cured really fast and no one could say why. While we were building the house there were times that my wife said that there was something in the hallway. After a bit of investigation we found out that in the early forties a man had been injured by a bull in the yard and later died in the house we tore down. the funniest part of this was when we got the water put into the house we had an Irish guy come and do the trenching,in the middle of the afternoon we stopped for a coffee break and told him the story, as we were sitting there the backdoor and the storm door both swung open, I have never in my life seen a man complete a job so quick and leave my yard. My daughter has woken us up at times saying she has heard someone moaning. So as for ghosts or spirits, I beleive.

Oct. 27, 2007, 8:30 a.m.I lived in a strange place for a couple of years where the owner committed suicide in the bedroom. Strange noises, smells, things being moved to other locations, like from the table to the kitchen counter. Argh, all the mornings I was late for work because my keys would end up in very strange places. The place was a house where the second story was made into a garage apartment where I lived and my sister and her son lived downstairs. They too had many things happen to them. That was the weirdest couple of years of my life. I don't like 'sharing' my place with non- paying roomies.
