Ted Rall is a carton of sludge that has long passed its expiration date. He's a shifty cheap shot artist who likes to bring up the past like it's meaningful. He likes to point out in his infinite wisdom that he was always against the war.

Well, Teddy, the steak has been seasoned and placed in the oven, yet you still want to argue about the cut.

It's fun to use an emotional argument about some soldiers lives, but Ted seems to be sorely lacking in ideas about what we are to do about the inevitable fallout if just withdraw as fast as possible, which will result in even greater grief for soldiers and the country.

Ted "Let It Flow" Rall, statesman.

I'm throughly impressed and throughly regular after cosuming his tripe.

I have to admit, I really dislike Ted Rall. I actually was compelled to send him a note outlining my disgust of his Condi Rice cartoon a couple years back. He also had one about Pat Tillman, but I think he may have apologized about that one.

He's a jerk. The fact that he's using the "72%" Zogby poll is telling...that poll was discredited. Hey, I think Hyperbola here at Propeller still likes that poll, too...

I've no idea who this guy is.

    He totally lacks credibility.

    He writes crap.

But bigotry and treason are hardly epithets worth throwing around like confetti.

Save them for someone of substance.

    In short a pointless non-story.

Not worth voting for or against or wasting more than 3 minutes on.

He doesn't understand the reason the soldiers are there - they only follow orders from civilians. The soldier is not in charge - we and people like this jerk tell them to do what they do. Sure, they volunteered, but apologizing for the actions they take to stay alive is completely out of line...

SUPPORT THE TROOPS AND NOT THE IGMO POLITICIANS AND 'OPINIONATORS' THAT WANT TO WASH THEIR HANDS OF THEIR VOTE AND CONSENTING OPINION THAT SENT THE TROOPS INTO THE IRAQ WAR.

The lieutenant quoted in the NY Times article made a very valid point about how America is not at war, the military is at war. Mr. Rall correctly contrasted the Vietnam veteran's protests with the lack of opposition to this war by those in the military today and simply pointed out that currently serving servicemen and women are volunteers and if they oppose the war should leave the military.

      No hate, just fact.

I dunno, BoBo. The guy makes sense to me. I admit that when I see a soldier walking down the streets of Louisville, I have mixed feelings about him. Certainly, I pray for him. But...when a soldier fights in an unjust war, every person he kills is an act of murder - even if the guy he just killed was pointing an RPG at him.

I wish Ron Paul could actually win; he's the only republican that wants us out of Iraq immediately.

rall has a point, but goes about it in the wrong manner. he is telling his story from a little too far left of center.

i, personally, am surprised that that there are not more anti-war demonstrations, given the amount of disdain exhibited here, and in other media venues.

the far right "don't give a damn how the world sees us, we must kill everyone that doesn't like us"

and the far left "want to impeach the complete gov't and try them for war crimes, them hangem' and extend an arm in friendship to the world".

the sooner a "central" party is born and takes over, the better.

      good luck with that.

With code pink and the Thruthers going into meetings on both sides and causing trouble, even Bill Clinton isn't immune to their hate filled rants, they are becoming more bold and a bit dangerous. I wonder when these groups will become violent in their zeal for their cause. Can you imagine how people would feel about said groups if they set off a bomb during a Hillary speech because she doesn't tow their line?

        Blaming the troops is WRONG.

We ALL know it's this Fundamentalist Christian Ultra-Conservative, corporate Republican Neocon administration and President's fault.

Let us lay blame at the feet of the deserving.

Oh gee, I knew that some idiot would start blaming the troops. Iraq is getting to look more and more like Vietnam every day.

It is the job of the military to follow orders. Countries where the military don't follow orders look like Burma!!! Is that would that idiot Ted want??? Burma in the US? The Generals shooting us because we are doing something they don't like?

Keep in mind that it is NOT THE MILITARY'S FAULT. It is the fault of all Americans (excepting the ones that were against it from the beginning -- which excludes Hillary and most Democrats also).

Actually Rall is right. Our soldiers feel the same way - and are taking action, just as they did in vietnam.

Speaks well of our troops that many of them uphold our finest american traditions, e.g. the Nuremberg principles, better than our politicians do.

Soldiers Opt for 'Search and Avoid'

News â;; Iraq war veterans now stationed at a base here say that morale among US soldiers in the country is so poor, many are simply parking their Humvees and pretending to be on patrol, a practice dubbed "search and avoid" missions.
