What people don't realize is that Rudy was so unpopular in New York, they were getting ready to throw the bum out!

Oct. 31, 2007, 10:38 a.m.Sen.Biden seriously nailed down the truth! I applaud his honesty, it is a breath of fresh air and something we need more of in Washington DC!

Oct. 31, 2007, 10:38 a.m.His entire campaign is built around the phony 9/11 hero mystique.
9/11 this, 9/11 that. Like broken record.

Oct. 31, 2007, 10:42 a.m.Rudy and his supporters think that he is able to take in charge of America as he took on the NY mobs and became popular among a section of the American population, but this is a different ball game altogether. Becoming a president of the United States of America and dealing with the international community is not a fun game. Already America is very unpopular among the international community, thanks to George Bush and his cohorts.

Oct. 31, 2007, 10:52 a.m.Don't think any candidate has nailed anything as well as Biden did Rudy. I swear if I hear that magpie say 9-11 one more time I will scream. I have almost wore out the mute button on the remote over that guy.

Oct. 31, 2007, 11:35 a.m.Great post, most people don't realize how unpopular Guiliani was prior to 9/11. Personally I think that Guiliani should replace Fred Thompson on Law & Order, and Thompson should retire.

Oct. 31, 2007, 11:55 a.m.If it weren't for 9/11, all Giuliani would have is a cocktail dress and alimony payments.

Oct. 31, 2007, 12:12 p.m.Rudy is pretty much unpopular all over, and yes very much so in New York especially with most of the city's courageous emergency services.

Oct. 31, 2007, 12:36 p.m.You should all check out http://therealrudy.org/radios?utm_source=rgemail
It'll give you some insight to Giuliani's "wonderful" preparation for, & handling of, 9/11.

Oct. 31, 2007, 1:04 p.m.It'll probably be a good thing for Democrats if Rudy is nominated..
the very ultra right wing WILL NOT VOTE FOR HIM and stay home.
he might get a few REAGAN Democrats.. crossovers...
and the Democrats can SWIFTBOAT HIM... first his kids don't like him.. and many NY firefighters can come out and talk about how his policies screwed them in a real emergency...
then his law enforcement policies that bordered on EXCESSIVE by the actions of the police..
then his ties to a Catholic priest that has molestation allegations.....
I could go on.. but why.. you get the point...

Oct. 31, 2007, 1:20 p.m.Joe pretty well calls things as he sees them. I think 911 is Bush's pet slogan, its time they all stopped using the victims for political gain.

Oct. 31, 2007, 1:57 p.m.While absolutely supporting--and enjoying--Joe's Rudy dish, the copyeditor/writer in me bristles at:
"There's only three things [Rudy] mentions in a sentence--a noun, a verb, and 9/11..."
Well, now, he doesn't MENTION a noun and a verb, he USES them--presumably generically--and THEN mentions, actually uses, the date 9/11.
So Sen. Biden should have said something like:
"Every sentence of Rudy's consists of a noun, a verb, and '9/11'"....
There, I feel MUCH better. Fellow posters, don't hate me too much for my pedantry..... (Although, please note, the preceding sentence did NOT contain "9/11.")

Oct. 31, 2007, 1:58 p.m.So? There three things that Teddy Roosevelt mentioned in sentence, a noun, a verb and Rough Riders.
Wasn't it Joe Biden that said the following, "I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy... I mean, that's a storybook, man."?

Oct. 31, 2007, 2:17 p.m.OK, I'm a New Yorker and--gotta say this--Rudy was BRILLIANT during 9/11.
By which I mean, he fashioned a perfectly calibrated voice of calm rationality, avoiding sentimentality and jingoism when the temptation to indulge in both was great. In short, he quelled fear by stepping aside from political rhetoric of any kind, and telling it precisely as it WAS.
That performance, however, is bookended by things not so admirable.
Not so admirable indeed.

Oct. 31, 2007, 2:42 p.m.being from canada. i don't know much about a lot of the american politicians. (other than the obvious idiots, on both sides.)
but i've seen Biden on various news stories and when he has been on comities and such, and have thought him to be a stand up guy.
so, can anyone tell me why he is not running?

Oct. 31, 2007, 2:59 p.m.Biden is correct about Rudy's selfish abuse of 9/11 tragedy for political gain. Rudy's political platform is solely based on 9/11 because he believes he has the exclusive right to do so. Rudy is NOT fit to lead this nation or the world because he was mayor of New York city on 9-11-2001!!! Rudy does not have any experience in leadership with the exception of banning homeless people from New York streets. His closet is full of skeletons and personal scandals that made tabloid history. He has a mean spirited look with a thirst for revenge against anyone who crosses him, including his children. He is far from being a conservative in any social issues. Rudy needs to run for New York city mayor's office again because that's the only city he could flex his muscles and treat people like a dormat. Just ask his ex-wife?
