Nov. 8, 2007, 7:36 a.m.AMERICANS, WHEN ARE WE GOING TO LEARN TO BOYCOTT THIS CRAZY COUNTRY???????????
Will it be well after the damage is done, and a lot of damage has come out of China already, or will we figure it out now??
Sad.

Nov. 8, 2007, 8:57 a.m.Holy kangaroo, who would have thought that beads when ingested would have chemicals on them that converts to the 'date rape' drug? Such a diabolical plot could only be conceived by an evil genius. Nah, just terrible quality control that didn't look at the composition of the ingredients and didn't know enough about chemical reactions especially if the beads came in contact with children. Once again safety controls were lacking. I thought testing product safety would have caught this? On either side of the ocean. Were there even any product testing or research? Or were the manufacturers and retail merchants only concerned with profits in the short term?

Nov. 8, 2007, 9:17 a.m.It doesn't matter what store you buy your toys from the majority of manufacture has been outsourced to China. With Christmas not far behind there will be a toy shortage. I have toys that I'm sure are made out of lead from long ago. We are going to put them into a collection, never to be played with.

Nov. 8, 2007, 10:51 a.m.Looks like the damaged already done to your brain when you had a toy made in China at your time. Made in China products started way before Regan Presidency, What does GWB having to do with this? You should be glad he had this administration discover this before the damage done any farther.

Nov. 8, 2007, 10:28 a.m.This looks like a design problem. The chemicals needed to make this product do what it does are apparently not suitable for use around young children who might ingest them. I expect this particular item will be gone forever - unless an alternate compound can be found.
As for boycotting Chinese made toys - excellent idea. Of course, Xmas will be a little THIN as 80% of all toys (last I heard) are now made in China. Go ahead, TRY to find an American made toy for little Johnnie or Suzy. If you do, please report back here as I expect many will be interested to know what you have found.

Nov. 8, 2007, 10:51 a.m.This is absolutely astounding! I too went to a shop, just last week as a matter of fact, and most everything in there was "Made in China". And believe it or not....it was not a walmart, or sam's, or even a kmart.
Joeblowe and nostalgia....I am so glad you posted those websites! Thanks so much. :-)

Nov. 8, 2007, 5:24 p.m.This is just one more reason why children need to be outside playing with sticks and rocks. I grew up in the 80's and every toy I had was hand made. Even then I spent more time outside playing Cops an Robbers, Hide and Seek, and all the other classics then I did inside with my toys.
(Except Voltron. Voltron rocks!)

Nov. 8, 2007, 5:43 p.m.Go to Walmart and look at the labels where an item is made, take a magnifier by the way. I'm sick of seeing made in China on what they sell.
I will pay more for American made and was elated to find out cookies I received as a gift were from Scotland. Now if they said China they would have been in the trash like other gifts of the past. They sell crap and Walmart is sucking the life blood from middle class America while acting the part of benefactor. Don't believe it, they are vampires. Until they change and promote made in America they can go suck an egg, from China I hope.

Nov. 8, 2007, 8:44 p.m.Most of my working career has been spent in quality assurance. Testing products should be a necessity! I use to pressure test tanks, that were used for oxygen, I would not want a fireman to be using a tank that had not been acid washed and pressure tested!
This is nothing more that greed and profits that benefit the few! Makes me wonder how these people can sleep at night!
Wonder what quality assurance working experience Mrs. Nord has in order to hold her job?

Nov. 8, 2007, 9:28 p.m.When are you going to realize that the Chinese don't give a damn about your children? We have welcomed them with open arms to a twenty-first century economy without ever considering their fourteenth-century mentality. We've done the same stupid sh!t with the middle east, given them riches beyond their wildest imagining, while they still have class wars and beat their women.

Nov. 8, 2007, 9:46 p.m.Anyone who thinks this is a partisan issue, please think again, the GOP is not unique in outsourcing to the lowest bidder and being all about the money.
You don't make the Clinton's millions by treating everyone fairly. You just don't.
When the bottom line is the bottom line, don't be surprised when you find yourself stuck at the bottom, in line.
