Agree! Fear is the most powerful tool Bush & his gang have used to keep us beleiving in the 'boogie-man' when public opinion has hurt their support on Iraq, Afghanistan & the war on terrorism. Fear has now become a political platform for the GOP. Republicans have lost their minds by ignoring important issues that really matter to this country's survival: the falling of the US Dollar against other currencies, the economy, the huge trade deficit with Communist China and its 'Made in China' dangerous & deadly goods, the slippery slope of the housing market, and last but not least, health insurance for all Americans. Oh, I forgot to mention, WHERE IS BIN LADEN MR. PRESIDENT?

Ah, the "religion of peace" preparing a special present for the infidels during the time of "peace on earth and good will towards men".

and cherev, during this time of "peace on earth and good will towards men" what do you suppose our hundreds of thousands of troops, thousands of planes and hundreds of ships are doing that we have all around the globe? do you think we stopped our military action?
or is it ok to bring it home to them, but different when they do the natural thing and return the favor?

Peace on Earth and they all want their piece. They invade another country and slatter their civilians all in the name of Peace, Love, and Liberation. Oh sorry, I guess you were talking about the other religion of peace.

not a question of if, just a question of when.
bombing weddings, waterboarding people, putting lightsticks up their butts, masking them, attaching electrodes to them, sweeping them up and spiriting them away to secret prisons, kicking in doors in the middle of the night, grabbing husbands out of bed, making children cry, exposing naked muslim women to american troops, unwavering support for israel, stealing natural resources.
is this the way to reduce the threat?

"The alert said al Qaeda "hoped to disrupt the U.S. economy and has been planning the attack for the past two years."
How in the hell do you disrupt U.S. economy by attacking a mall or two? People will find other places to shop. Give us the alert, even if it's flimsy, and then it's up to us, the public, and law enforcement to be aware and alert.
But you have to wonder with the track record of this administration what election or legislation do they want? Might it have anything to do with the supplemental budget to the war?

Really .. just to A$$HOLES and 1 high powered rifle struck fear into the entire DC area just a couple years ago...
a couple of well placed packages of C4 the day after Thanksgiving in a dozen or so large malls..

Charlson - bombing a couple of malls at this time of year would most likely stop / slow a huge amount of people from their X-mass shopping - the single largest economy sales event in the US that keeps the manufacturing and banking insdustry in business - believe me it would be very damaging
... having said that - repeated ongong goverment bulitins f that nature on more or less junk info is almost as harmfull and the goverment should seriously considder the ramifications of such notices - they can't prevent the possible bombings anyway - so whats the logic of the anouncements --- self serving to prove that they are relevant (just like Bush - they are not)

No, you had it right the first time. They just want to be sure they have done their job by alerting us in the hopes that we will be more aware.
Plain and simple.
Some of these people on here ought to apply at the nearest circus as magicians. One trick I'm sure they could perform is turning molehills into mountains. :-)
Have a nice day!

No worries, shouldn't be that many people in the malls this year anyway due to inflated energy cost. Sounds like what was going to be a rough holiday season for retailers is going to get worse. Now the people that can still afford to shop are going to be afraid too. Get ready to say howdy to the 2008 recession!

I read that there were 20, 000 security personel present at the Bhutto bombing in Pakistan. It did no good, and the bombing was one of the worst ever
so check at the borders, airports etc., and spare us these stupid vague pointless warnings. Unless every person is checked going into a mall before shopping, WTF's the point? an airplane for instance is a small space and regulation of that space is easier than a mall
What haunts me is thinking, what if after the 'Bin Laden determined to strike using aircraft' memo, our prez decided to hire about 20 million dollars worth of air marshals to put on planes, intead of pointlessly spending trillions after the fact?
course Condi would have to have remembered reading that memo, etc.

DeadXXXManXXXTalkin1 year, 8 months ago
But its Clinton's fault 9/11 happened cause he didn't call Condi to remind her to read the memo and pass it on to the prez, and he shoulda known after their spirited night of inter-racial lovemaking, she wouldn'ta been thinking straight for a few weeks after the waxin he gave her.
If only Bill had kept it in his pants we wouldn't be in this mess

Absolutely right! Why? Because it was never the intention to go after Al Qaeda, that was just the excuse to get into the Middle East, Iraq/Iran was the real reason he wanted to get our military established in the Middle East.
Now Al Qaeda is a convenience!

mmmm I don't know how credible is this threat... well after 9/11 every holiday season we heard this. I am not trying to fall prey to 'crying wolf' syndrome. This is what Bush/Cheney did all through their time in power, keep America under constant threat. I doubt Al-Qaeda was ever strong like what these conservative clans were saying. Look at even 9/11 those guys had only box cutters and tapes, little training.. and 9/11 happened because of ignorance the Bush adminstration...(or was it deliberate?) The point is.... look back at all the arrests made around the world, only where conservatives are in power where there were big arrests of the so called Al-Qaeds guys, it all looks like they are targeting muslims. That is the hidden truth. FBI, CIA and other organizations are getting used by criminal conservatives.

you ever hear of sibel edmonds?
"...about the criminal penetration of the FBI where she worked, and at the Departments of State and Defense; everything she heard concerning the corruption and illegal activities of several well-known members of Congress; everything she's aware of concerning information omitted and/or covered up in relation to 9/11."
"...in addition to her allegations about the Dickersons, she reported hearing Turkish wiretap targets boast that they had a covert relationship with a very senior politician indeedâ;;Dennis Hastert, Republican congressman from Illinois and Speaker of the House since 1999. The targets reportedly discussed giving Hastert tens of thousands of dollars in surreptitious payments in exchange for political favors and information."

Al Qaeda is just going to have to get in line. Angry shoppers will be slugging it out for the last "must have" Elmo toy or PSP game, or Wii. Then you have all the angry brats from the year before sending death threats to Santa and his elves. One year I worked at a toy store in the mall during Christmas and there were times I found my self wishing some of those toy guns were real. The reality is that if some suicide bomber showed up on the first holiday christmas sale, he would get trampled hundreds of cosumer shoppers trying just to get through the doors. If the terrorist have any kind of sense they wouldnt mess with the american consumer during the holiday season. Cries for Thomas the Train, X-Box, and the next hopping Tiger will make cries of Jihad look pretty weak in comparison.

On the flip side, I can see how this could be played out by the fearmonging warmongers.
They are attacking Christmas! Our children! Our Christ!
My gawd the spins they can play to that toon will make 911 look like some one shooting a spit wad through a straw.

The reason they have not attacked here in the US yet is really quite simple. They know that the American people are fickle and self-centered. The moment attacks start here you will hear a cry for vengeance rise up from all across the land, even from even the most liberal of liberals. We will see those attacks here in the US all in mass when those in power in Iran & Syria think they are fully prepared to destroy Israel and ready & able to take what we will deliver.

Jaydee401 year, 8 months ago
But the so called terrorists are all over the world, even in north america. They are respected people in all walks of life that are well hidden so what would attacking Iran or Syria do but make them out to be heroes. Let me add if the US is stupid enough to attack Iran they will be in for the war father of all wars, they have been buying and developing weapons for years now, they will be no push over.

More likely, another terrorist act, on the scale of the World Trade Center attack, will blow up in the faces of Bush, Cheney and the neocons. It might even incite some REAL anti-Semitism.

Attention Terrorist. If you have to blow yourselves up in our malls, can you please make sure you take out some of those cell phone stands where they try to sign you up. Bonus points for people with clipboards taking questionaires, loud rude crying little toddlers, those weird clothing places blaring loud techo music, and those dudley-doo-right looking cop wanta-bees mall security guards that have to be in your business. You are pentalized for blowing up Chikafilets (even if they are mormon), Cinabuns, and Coffe shops. You know if you even touch a Ms. Fields cookie shop, your just asking for the entire middle east to get nuked.

Since nobody has any money right now anyway, there will be nobody at the malls. Didn't those pinheads at Al Kaida get the memo?

Your arrogance is only rivaled by your short sightedness. I am not broke by any means, but figures don't lie, October retail sales are down, Energy prices are at all time highs, the housing market still has yet to hit bottom. Not to mention that our currency keeps losing more and more value with each passing day. This is not a recipe of a successful economy, it is a recipe for disaster. Al Qaeda doesn't need to do a thing to hurt this economy, it is heading for an implosion all on its own.

what im waiting to see is this, all these warnings are going out and people will ignore them, then if something does happen people will say that not enough was done, And the left Will once again Blame Bush for not taking care of the problem. I hope nothing happens and nothing probably will happen but im gald they are putting out warnings. if it makes people aware to their surrondings then it is a good thing.

American Pat:
There hasn't been enough done HERE! Our borders should have been closed and secured directly after 9/11, were they.. NO! For years Bush wanted to OPEN our borders, so what was to keep more terrorists from coming over along with a few Mexicans?
There also needs to be more of our military HERE instead of being spread so thin all over the world.
There hasn't been enough done HERE to protect us, open borders, our military there, then they raise the threat of terrorist attack on every occasion they can.
It's Bush's goal to ruin the finances and Holidays of every American, the least get together is plagued with terrorist threats every year since 2001.

I can't imagine that similar memos are in the daily e-mails to ALL malls in the country.
Meanwhile, the U.S. has nearly its entire army stationed in the back waters of Iraq.
Meanwhile the U.S. is depleting its credit in order to secure Iraq for the Oil profiteers
Meanwhile the U.S. is printing money to try to keep it's economy even looking OK.
Meanwhile a few idiots still say "Good Job Bush"

Here's the other big news: FBI: Al Quida MIGHT NOT strike malls anywhere in the U.S. during the Xmas season.
It's pretty bad when even the Feds who are releasing this "non-news" admit they have NO credible information about a specific threat. The even stupider thing is that Al Quida thinks that knocking off part of a shopping center or two would have much effect. There are HUNDREDS of shopping centers, and unless they can also disrupt the internet blowing up one or two isn't going to keep the little kiddies from having Xmas toys.
