Senator says US no longer has rights even of Middle Ages »
Posted by: Aidenag 1 year, 12 months ago"According to the last attorney general (Bush) was king, and maybe this one believes the same thing, he can do whatever he wants to," Harkin continued. "But even in 1215, the King of England was held to the standard of habeas corpus. I guess we want to turn the clock back to before the Magna Carta."

Nov. 9, 2007, 12:29 p.m.The only bright spot is that abandoning the Constitution cuts both ways - if Bush and Dickless Cheney say the Constitution doesn't apply to them, why should we be restrained by the rule of law in order to deal with them?

Nov. 9, 2007, 12:36 p.m.America, the eyes of the world are upon you in this hour tribulation, will you rise to the challenge or fall in line like sheep to the slaughter. This is when history will tell whether your claim to freedom was true of the false bravado of rhetoric.

Grrr
Nov. 9, 2007, 12:46 p.m.Seems to me it's time for Congress to start making some examples out of a few folks. Write 'em and say so. Time to 'put it all back on the table'.

Nov. 9, 2007, 12:47 p.m.I watched Tom Harkin make an impassioned plea for reason
last night. Sadly, Democrats who should have been listening
weren't even there! Obama - Hillary - Biden - Dodd and
old "Maverick" Republican McCain didn't even cast a vote.
They'd prefer to stick us with Atty.Gen.Mukasey than to
answer questions about a "controversial" vote?
Democrats who WERE there and voted FOR Mukasey.......
Chuck Schumer - NY
Diane Feinstein - CA
Ben Nelson - Nebraska
Mary Landrieu - LA
Evan Bayh - Indiana
Thomas Carper - Delaware
AND Joe Liebermann - Independent
ONLY because of these 10 Democrats did Mukasey
get confirmed.

Nov. 9, 2007, 12:55 p.m."Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."
The Bush administration has proven that these words and concepts are irrelevant and too cumbersome to observe.
Under the guise of protecting freedom and upholding Christian values, systemic greed, complicity, and corruption have been allowed to disband the rule of law and the laws of a just God.
Imagine what Jesus would say about these so called "Christian" values?
I think the discussion of hypocrisy would have to come first. What do you think?

Nov. 9, 2007, 12:59 p.m.More false bravado over non-issues. Habeas corpus is not at risk. If you think so, this phrase must escape your lips at regular intervals..."Baa! Baa!" Yep, I hear the chorus resoundingly here on this thread.
Lo, behold, St. Goopers the Garrulous is leading the choir! What a surprise!
