Nov. 27, 2007, 1:49 p.m.That wanton tart!
After having the audacity to commit the crime of sitting in a car with a male who was not a relative - she should have recognized the justice of 90 lashes. (Obviously, it was her fault she was gang-raped) Instead, she had the temerity to appeal that righteous sentence - So it was increased to six months in prison and 200 lashes.

Nov. 27, 2007, 3:39 p.m.While I cannot condone what is being done to this teacher, I have a couple of questions to raise...
1. How could a teacher be so stupid as to allow this in a muslim country ?
2. Why does this simply reek of politics (given Sudan's current regime & problems) ?
3. Why are so many muslims called Mohammed, if it's an insult to Islam ?????

Nov. 27, 2007, 3:59 p.m.Good questions DM
As for how could a teacher be so stupid...well..that is easy for me to believe since most of the teachers I know are totally disconnected with real life..this is not to say she deserves what is happening..time to call in the Marines

Nov. 27, 2007, 5:39 p.m.According to the law which is governed by the law of Islam ... it is an offense to ridicule the Prophet. The law was broken by 7 year olds. The teacher will be the scape goat because of the state of the relationship between the East and the West. Or I should say the Christian/Muslim conflict.
Now if the same thing happened in the West ..... a teddy bear named Christ ..... I am sure there would be parents up in arms to have her relieve from her job even if the kids did the naming. The difference is "THE LAWS OF ISLAM" that this incident is being judged by. There is no doubt , as someone else stated , this is political in nature.
The short story is ..... when in another country such as this, be aware of the laws and customs. Do I agree with the punishment .... NO!!

Nov. 27, 2007, 7:25 p.m.Thanks GM - I thought that if I grovelled enough, I'd get some words of thought, not a knee-jerk reaction...
I agree, "when in Rome, make with the Julius".....
I am personally convinced that this is purely political, as such, one of the few times I wish I was the UK's PM. My respoonse (as UK PM) would be along the lines of :-
"Stop this now, or ALL aid will cease, ALL endeavours on behalf of your country will cease, and after I've addressed the UN...... Have a nice day...
As to the punishment, beyond a joke.....

Nov. 27, 2007, 7:05 p.m.Apparently the bear is going to get 50 or 100 lashes depending upon if it's male or female.

Nov. 27, 2007, 8:17 p.m.Problems on both sides. If something was named Christ the teacher would have trouble, but I'm really not sure about the whipping in a "civilized" country

Nov. 27, 2007, 8:46 p.m.Wow, this is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. A woman faces a whipping(again, a whipping!) and 6 months in jail for letting her students name a teddy bear Muhammed.
So, some parents get offended by naming teddy Muhammed - becuase it's an animal toy. I think that's silly, but they have the right to be offended and to have teddys name changed. But to bring police into the matter? To put a woman in jail?? To face a whipping??? That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

Nov. 27, 2007, 9:45 p.m.I wonder why she did not name the teddy bear Jesus or Moses. and even that would be viewed as an offense in an Islamic country. It is your English language that says, (it is an adage that says) "When you are in Rome act as Romans" you are good preachers but don't practice, and you love when something happens in an Islamic country but you forget that Jack Straw's veil out burst, that was actually very tolerant, and anything a Muslim does become very tolerant in a five star Democracy.

Nov. 27, 2007, 9:48 p.m.And also this will give you, civilised people some idea list it ones more.
IF I WASN'T MUSLIM (Bosnian Muslim)
If I wasn't Muslim
Ya ha deedle deedle, bubba bubba deedle deedle dum.
If I wasn't born Mohammedan
Life for me would have been fun.
I could live and prosper
On my land and I could even build a bigger house
I wouldn't have to, every now and then,
Run and hide like a mouse.
If I wasn't Muslim
Ya ha deedle deedle, bubba bubba deedle deedle dum.
My neighbors wouldn't set my home on fire
And surround me with barbed wire
I wouldn't live in terror
Ya ha deedle deedle, bubba bubba deedle deedle dum.
Books wouldn't teach you that I was an error
In European history.
Ref:
I would not have to prove that I am not stupid
A backward and primitive villain
An alien threat to your way of life
to be hunted down.

Ya ha deedle deedle, bubba bubba deedle deedle dum.
If I was a part of Christendom
Europe would be my sweet home.
I wouldn't have to worry
Ya ha deedle deedle, bubba bubba deedle deedle dum.
What will happen in a year or two?
Will I have to leave or stay and die?
Drop my pants to be identified and put aside
Just 'cause I'm a Mussulman?

Nov. 27, 2007, 10:31 p.m.A.It is pathetic how so many Muslims blame their lot in life on being Muslim. Unfortunately it then gives them an excuse not to change or try. B. The pupils and the teacher may have actually thought they were honoring the Prophet by naming the bear after him. If Islamic, half the class probably has the name of Mohammad, Jesus is a very very rare name in America. C. No daylight, you continue to show how you misunderstand the West by assuming that Christians will react in similar ways to Muslims in similar situations. D. Listening and learning are not well know attributes in the Islamic World. E. If Muslims stopped acting as if they were in the 16th Century perhaps they would be viewed as such.

Nov. 27, 2007, 11:35 p.m.Daylight .... Correct me if I am wrong. You are no more Muslim than I am. You are a player. You probably are in your early twenties ... a college student. I say this as I have watched your "performance" for a while now. Your posts are to illicit a response from others on the site .... you do a good job at this. What you do that I don't like is set a bad example for the good Muslims out there that actually practice their faith in a peaceful manner. Your posts do not help the Muslim image they polarize the Christian against the Muslim. You slip once in a while, it hasn't gone unnoticed, you spell words like a person that has not mastered the english language, then at other times you are bang on. In summary you are a player.

Nov. 28, 2007, 4:41 a.m.``The police is bound to investigate,'' embassy spokesman Khalid al Mubarak told British Broadcasting Corp. radio. ``I am pretty certain that this minute incident will be clarified very quickly and this teacher who has been helping us with the teaching of children will be safe and will be cleared.''
Asked about the potential punishments - six months imprisonment or 40 lashes - he said: ``My impression is that the whole thing could probably be settled amicably long before we reach stages like these ... Our relationship with Britain is so good that we wouldn't like such a minute event to be overblown.''
Of course this won't stop you guys flogging the story to death in pursuit of your rabid racism.

Nov. 28, 2007, 9:58 a.m.More religious insanity. And how soon we forget that only in the past few hundred years have Christians relented in their viciousness. Much of the Quaran is open to interpretation and like the Bible there are times when it is completely nonsensical. Why the human race continues to follow these relic documents is beyond my comprehension. These two books alone have been responsible for massive bloodshed over the centuries. Could we really have treated each other worse without them?

Nov. 29, 2007, 10:29 p.m.V.O.R.What we seem to forget is that Christians did relent in their viciousness in the past few hundred years and yet there are those who wish to continue to compare actions two, three, four, you get the idea, hundred years ago with actions of today.
