Foes Use Obama's Muslim Ties to Fuel Rumors About Him »
Posted by: Aidenag 1 year, 11 months agoDespite his denials, rumors and e-mails circulating on the Internet continue to allege that Obama is a Muslim, a "Muslim plant" in a conspiracy against America, and that, if elected president, he would take the oath of office using a Koran, rather than a Bible.

Nov. 29, 2007, 1:22 a.m.My sister said this to me the other day. I couldn't believe she was actually that naive and ignorant of the candidates.

Nov. 29, 2007, 1:22 a.m.We are not saying he is a follower of Islam.
However his 'spirit' does not reflect the God of Abraham.
There are no doubts in mhy mind at all that there is an Islamic influence!
"Christians' BEWARE!
G W Bush fooled you in 2000, use reason not blind emotions in the 2008 Elections!

Nov. 29, 2007, 1:57 a.m.I've checked Obama's background as well as I can. He is a good and decent man by his actions, which include giving up a lucrative job after Colombia to work with the underprivileged. He will be my choice when WA state holds its primary, & nothing from the world of spin and rumor will change my mind. I'll leave that to people who can't think for themselves.

Nov. 29, 2007, 5:10 a.m.I'll reserve my opinion until I've gotten a better view of his views. So far I like Ron Paul or Dennis Kucinich. I just keep hearing the same old rhetoric from all the candidates. We don't need to keep building upon the rubble we have. We need to tear down the garbage Bush and Reagan have put together and rebuild a solid foundation. I don't hear any of the "favorites" saying they would do that. Just my opinion. But can we continue to focus on the degrees of difference or do we vote to change the whole direction. To me that is what it comes down to. Color or gender have nothing to do with change. Motivation and morals do. Look at that first.

Nov. 29, 2007, 7:54 a.m.Uber Conservative Christians in this country believe that Jesus leads other Conservatives, so when their pundits lie to them and say that Obama is a Muslim, they believe it, and are not aware that they are being lied to so that a group may win a political game.
It's sort of funny, really.

Nov. 29, 2007, 8:11 a.m.The first time I saw Barrak I had just come into the house for a coffee break and he was on Oprah, I sat and listened to the whole show and my opinion of his was that maybe here was a breath of fresh air. This man offers America something new or maybe something old, his ideas to me are more of the we have lost one being honesty. Maybe he is just all talk but Very seldom am I wrong when it comes to people and to date I still beleive my first opinion of him was right. This is an oppertunity for the American people to show that they support the constitution by setting they're opinions of race and religion aside and taking a serious look at this person.

Nov. 29, 2007, 9:49 a.m.Are the emails going around about Obama not putting his hand over his heart and reciting the Pledge true? If so he's not a true American! I won't vote for anyone that does not take standing up for our country seriously. My father fought in 3 wars, my husband is retired Navy and my younger brother is still in the Army Reserve. What have they done for this country????!!!
I'm tired of everyone coming into our country and we are the ones that have to change our traditions, how we say things etc... but they get all the assistance when they come into this country. How about a canidate that is for the working American people and not the jerks that come to the U.S.A. for a handout and get one.
Maybe we can elect a candiate that has guts, if one would ever run!
When has a canidate kept their campaign promises?! And keep their wedding vows?!
Maybe they should quit pointing fingers and clean up their own lives. When you point a finger you have three looking right back at you!

Nov. 29, 2007, 9:48 a.m.Let the slimming begin! The scary thing is the American people have become such uninformed, compliant sheep that they will believe it. The Democrats have lost their spines and are already rolling over like passive puppies so we can't count on them to do anything that requires an ounce of courage. They would turn on Obama in a minute.
BTW, are the rumors true that Guiliani is a philandering, opportunistic atheist who needs help to spit past his lower lip? Seems like I heard that somewhere.

Nov. 29, 2007, 2:26 p.m.aniokly: Oh no!!!! We wouldn't want them to do what Bush did would we? Well. NO I wouldn't. Bush still claims to be a Christian while sacrificing American soldiers for oil and greed. He lies and steals for the wealthy. He is the worst president ever. So please. Let us not get fooled again by a supposed "Christian" who really is a follower of satan. Bush and Cheney the devils playmates from hell. Please crawl back under that rock the sun is out and you'll vaporize if it hits you there vampire. You suck the truth out of everything to spin your way around the truth. I'd say look in the mirror but you'd see nothing. Must be hard being you.

Nov. 29, 2007, 11:08 a.m.Notice that the individuals that are not on Obama's side are receiving a negative response to their comments.
It seems by a few of these "votes" that the mud slinging is not confined to politicians view points either.
And I'd better make sure I'm spelling my words correctly or "gamahuche" will correct my spelling. And just what difference does it make where, in these United States of America, someone resides?! Oakie, smokie so what, we all can't live in the same place, nor do the same job, nor drive the same auto. What's with the slamming of where anyone lives or the political party they support?!
MERRY CHIRSTMAS EVERYONE!

Nov. 29, 2007, 11:26 a.m.Actually I think this rash of rumors & inuendo is a good thing, because in the unlikly event he is elected president , these very same issues will dog him with increased verosity. At least with Hillary it's been the same old, same old & she has handled it.
The president does not do his job in a vacumn (even tho GW seems to), we must have more knowledge of who his/her advisors are- GW a bunch of sleazebags as advisors & still got elected - who has Obama surrounded himself with? Oprah?

Nov. 29, 2007, 11:35 a.m.The quality of the campaign accurately reflects the quality of those seeking nomination (and election). Since there are several experienced character assassins in the race, character assassination will be plentiful, and the truth be damned.

Nov. 29, 2007, 1:16 p.m.Maybe he's a secret Muslim, maybe he isn't. He is, however a Democrat. And unless there is a change in '08 we have a Democrat majority Congress. Regardless of Barry's religious leanings, we certainly can't afford a Democrat in the White House when there is a Democratic Congress. Remember all the trouble we had when they were both Republican? Best to keep them at least somewhat at odds - that way, the stuff that actually gets passed will more likely be acceptable to everyone, not just a ramming- down- our- throats of one party's agenda.

Nov. 29, 2007, 1:48 p.m.I am outraged and shocked at what the media is saying about Obama's faith. Where in the US Constitution does it mention that one must be from Judeo-Christian background to run for public office? The fact that we're debating Obama's faith because he could be Muslim is prejudice and racist in nature. To portray Islam and its devout followers as outcasts and undesirables in this great 'melting pot' of ours is totally insane and xenophobic. Shame on those who are ignorant and bigoted!

Nov. 29, 2007, 2:06 p.m.I read through the responses quickly, but it didn't appear that anyone mentioned who would be behind the rumors.
I wonder who would benefit most????
Bill had that "never had sex" look in his eye yesterday when he said he was against going into Iraq. They are revving up the rhetoric now. What a couple!

Nov. 29, 2007, 2:33 p.m.Surprised no one has stated the obvious: that if your sole decision in choosing a candidate rests on his/her religion, then you should do the country a favor and surrender your voting privileges right away.

Nov. 29, 2007, 3:14 p.m.Really Ani was spreading the rumor that the rumor was coming before anyone publicly started saying it. I think Ani started the rumor so she must work for Hillary.
