The U.S. House has passed a resolution "Recognizing the importance of Christmas and the Christian faith"-- but it wasn't unanimous. The measure was approved by a vote of 372-to-9, with all of the "no" votes cast by Democrats. A similar resolution recognizing the importance of Ramadan and the Islamic faith was passed unanimo

Only weeks after voting for a resolution that "recognizes the Islamic faith as one of the great religions of the world," nine Democrats in the U.S. House refused to vote for a Christmas resolution that condemns the worldwide persecution of Christians.

U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette, D-Colo., was on the list of those who endorsed the statement recognizing Islam but refused to support the Christmas resolution that noted the holiday "is celebrated annually by Christians throughout the United States and around the world."

Why are they pandering to the Muslims, what gives? I think I will drop Diana DeGette an e-mail and see if she will answer why she and others are pandering to this group.

        Just so I understand:

It is politically correct to support a resolution recognizing Islam and Ramadan; but politically incorrect to support a similar resolution recognizing Christianity?

Remember that in Islamic ideology, men and women do not have equal rights, nor do non-Muslims share the same rights as Muslims. Sharia law is completely contrary to the U.S. Constitution, and freedom of expression is non-existent.

        .

Do these people really represent us?

Bunch of bunk! Why is Congress diddly-pooing around with these idiotic resolutions honoring holidays which are already on the Calendar, when we have children without health care coverage, a war in Iraq, outrageous hunger and poverty in this nation, and a doofus for a president. Honestly, a zooful of chimps would do a far better job than the dimble-bunnies in Congress and the White House!

Christianity, if you have it, it will be in your heart and soul. Resolutions won't change the Word of Christ. We do have to be careful, because other religions are ways of life, not choices. Eye for an eye, the guy that strangled his daughter for changing from the traditional covers to her face at school, that sort of thing; truly democracy is not Christianity. We often see politics that are not grounded, expediency leads to silly decisions; and as we also have now, negative consequences. Christians should enjoy Christmas, showing peace and joy to others, and as a bonus, we too will be happy. This is the People's government and we should place the right thing up there with celebrating the day. Recall W using toucher as the basis for the removal of Saddam, now what is America doing, that's us Christians too. If you don't like their vote do the Christian thing, that is the right thing. Keep the standards up for the day and the other 364.

Merry Christmas everyone! And a happy Hannukah to my Jewish friends. Oh, Ramadan. Who cares.

Y'all can't stand to have ANY dissent can you- 9 democrats, that's 2% of the house. This proves that the right is essentially anti-democratic and teetering on the edge of fascism. This is a stupid bill anyway, Christmas isn't really a Christian holiday and some Christian sects do not celebrate it because it's really Pagan

Personally, a better Christmas Resolution would be not to emphasize its 'Christian' background, but more on what the Holiday really means on a Universal level.

In other words, prohibit the whole shopping and gift-giving crap, or at least prohibit expensive gift buying. Recently, all Christmas has devolved into is a 'get the most expensive gift, regardless the cost' where we no longer honour the day for being with families, but instead wonder what expensive toy can be bought to appease the children and family.

Apparently we forget the moral about the Grinch Who Stole Christmas, where the Holiday comes whether or not one receives or gives gifts.

The reason I'm a bit Grinchy myself recently is, many have noticed the Wii Shortage going on. Especially where many customers have now gone to extreme lenghts, by hook-or-crook, to get stores to sell them one.

Thanks to a stupid tracking site (cont.)
