When members of your own party are positive about changes they are seeing first hand in Iraq, maybe it's time to give up on giving up.

    from the story

"I feel we've made progress, and the other part is I feel we can see an end game in sight," Rep. Donnelly, D-Ind., told reporters on a conference call Tuesday from Washington. "It isn't we just keep plugging away in the hopes something will turn out right. Gen. (David) Petraeus is working a plan and we seem to be heading toward a place where the Iraqis can be self-sustaining and we'll have a smaller presence in the background."

Wouldn't it just be a shocker to see most of our troops able to come home and to see Iraq standing mostly on it's two feet say by next Oct./Sept.?

It may be a pipe dream but I think one well worth praying for.

I figure hill is more right than left to start with, and since both political parties are bought and paid for by the same interested parties, the deepening friendship between Bush sr. and bill and all the non activity by any elected official in any constructive manner, todays politics is a joke. Only a very expensive one that the voters great grandchildren will be paying for

Bah, military progress and drastically reduced levels of violence means nothing. Since the central Iraqi government is not functioning as well as our own we should declare defeat and "redeploy" our troops.

I know, some will say it took the US 200 years to arrive at our own perfectly harmonious system but come on, it's been 5 years and they can't put aside 1,300 years of religious rivalry and decades of saddam's monstrous brutality? Sheesh.

Well I sure hope so, but I know my cousin just got redeployed. It sounds like it may be marginally safer now then it was during his last tour.

We still need to evaluate at some point whether it made sense for us to go into Iraq in the first place.

Iran is no doubt better positioned and much stronger without the countervailing Iraqi to hold it in check.

We threw Saddam out, but now we're supporting Sunni militias, the same folks that we removed from power and sent home.

The United States no doubt looks weaker and we are indeed in terms of treasure, blood and international standing.

Cause to celebrate? Not a chance.

How is the United States better off?

Reid and co will never bow th the fact that we are winning. Look at TonyByron above. They just keep their heads in the sand. If something goes well they find the part empty of an almost full glass to be sour about and say it will never happen. They should create a club "Pessimists about America".

Well U know it seems some democrats are actually getting both of their brain particles to fire at the same time. Of course the big challenge is will a large group be able to do it as well. I doubt it. The cut and run mentality is still w/most of the loudmouth liberals. They want defeat regardless of what it does to this country.

The improvement in Iraq is awesom news but that does not eraze the fact that the butcher of bagdad's irresposible blunder caused it all. ...and a merry xmas to you all too

A lot of fools have commented about "cut and run" from the left (a BS polarized characteriization from the rabid right only), but the false characterization applies to almost 70% or more of America... that knows Dumya has taken us the wrong way as a nation... with still no assurance of success in Iraq... and Dumya getting longterm commitments to have our fine soldiers continually shot at there! How Un-American!
