TIME Person of the Year For 2007 - Vladimir Putin »

Posted by: TimALoftis 2 years ago

No one is born with a stare like Vladimir Putin's. The Russian President's pale blue eyes are so cool, so devoid of emotion that the stare must have begun as an affect, the gesture of someone who understood that power might be achieved by the suppression of ordinary needs, like blinking.

neocons are not celebrating, this is rediculous, only Time could pick a hard cor communist like Putin to be the man of the yr. If you think living in Russia is any better than it was before the cold war then go visit. Now there is a country where the difference between the poor and the rich is one stands in line for bread, the other is filthy rich.

I promote a cage fight match between Putin and Bush to determine who really is the person of the year and put it on pay-per-view TV.

Putin is well-deserving. His influence is rising both domestically and internationally. Russia controls an enormous amount of natural resources and he is forming regional alliances. I hope he doesn't completely shut down the democratic process though.

Person of the Year started as "good guy/gal of the year". Time has it all wrong this time. Gorbachev...detente...good; Putin, hardline KGB Soviet style tyrant...not good.

Great. Another Russian dictator gets elected by TIME as person of the year. Big deal. I swear the TIME brass must have their heads up their butts. I'm surprised it wasn't Hugo Chavez or Ahmadinejad or Ding Dong from North Korea or hell even Usama Bin Laden. I don't read TIME anyway. What a waste of talent.

Putin sure bitch-slapped W every time they've met for the last couple years, though. First laugh, last laugh, and everything in between. W is such a milk-toast idiot, an O.G. like Putin will always eat him for breakfast.

PERSON is "a human being regarded as an individual".

                                        Politicians are not individuals.

From Latin roots individual also means indivisible.

Politicians have split personalities and do not qualifie.

So by definition the "Person of the year"can not be either Putin or Bushi.

The world will find that Russia is the top dog now and the United States is liken a 3rd world country...I like the way that Putin has so skillfully guided his people since the vote to bring the courts to order here in California was shot down ... (Nov.2005) He then closed the doors to the US and was not heard for a period of time. Since...he's in control, and has time after time made Bush look like he is...nothing.

See...we would not have what we have today if it wasn't for the Russians...no weather service plus alot more! They have been continually put down by the US and I forsee the opposite coming to the US. Physics...

I agree with Time...Putin is not a liar...not like the Bushs.

I can't stand the Orielly brigade comments on this for whom Petraeus is GOD! Forget the world, how many people in USA know who Petraeus is. The world (most of which is outside the US) doesn't give a rat's ass to Iraq or to Petraeus, and TIME does have a global audience. Its TIME's man of the year, not TIME's US man of the year.
