Jan. 1, 2008, 5:23 a.m.The somewhat obligatory "best of" list. Let's say it's a list of my favorites of the past year. Some great video offerings and some advice for New Year resolutions. I'm hoping you'll give this a read and tell us on the thread what your own picks might be. Did I "choose wisely"? That should be fun!

See at least 1 bad movie,
lose track of where you left your keys at least once,
lose a dozen socks making pairless singles wastinga t least 1 drawer.

Jan. 1, 2008, 1:47 p.m.I feel somewhat ashamed that I heard very little new music last year. The effect of living in a red state where Nickelback is considered alternative and having our internet radio priviledges revoked at work. Would definitely add Radiohead's "In Rainbows" to the list. They never take the safe road which I appreciate.
One CD that remained in my changer for months last year was Keane's "Live From Hull" from their 2006 UK Tour which was given to fans as they left the shows, not sold in stores. Snagged this from a users site. Love to hear the British crowds and their soccer stadium sing-a-longs. Must be a huge rush for a performer. I play the keyboards and Tim Oxley-Rice is my current hero. Perhaps a guilty pleasure but they are an incredible live band (as is Radiohead) which has always been one of my chief judging criteria.
Not a country fan but Brad Paisley is what country should be, not the god awful sound of Rascal Flatts.

Jan. 1, 2008, 1:48 p.m.RFE picking Brad Paisley's "online" was a good choice. When I first heard the song it got me wondering about my Propeller friends. His duet with Allison Krauss was/is a blend of both their talents.
Good list. Again, big thanks RFE! Been wanting to update my musical library. This is my New Year's Resolution.
Annie Lennox's voice has gotten better with age.

Health is at the top of my list, happiness and of course a little prosperity would be nice .

Whiskey Lullaby by Paisley and Krauss is the best duet I've heard in a long time and the song tells a very 'real story'; it is definitely not a cutsey country tune.
Also I liked the band Praxis; sweet, sweet, sweet.
And as a guitar player Paisley is for real.

On my list I would also include, The White Stripes and a personal indulgence- Goldfrapp. Annie Lennox- a favourite as well.

Jan. 1, 2008, 11:54 p.m.Sorry, Radio, my resolution is to swear off 10 best lists. I realize I've heard none of these, that I've only had an opportunity to see one of the Golden Globe noms in film, and that I watch only CSI (original) voluntarily on TV.
In the meantime, I've got Propeller and the full set of Animaniacs to take up my time...so little time, so much Yacko, Wacko and Dot...

For me it was a joy and a wonder to see Robert Wyatt here - at all, even still alive.. Even pre Soft Machine he was a member of my CND [Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament] group.
I saw him play regularly with Soft Machine at UFO, London's first psychedelic club - the other house bands were Pink Floyd and the Crazy World of Arthur Brown. [The last re-appeared in Prague last year and I was thinking about going but forgot..]
Daevid Allen, a slightly later "Soft", showed up at my establishment a couple of years ago - I didn't recognise him but knew that we were "connected" [by a lover-in-common in Deya, the amazing village in Majorca where Robert Graves ruled for decades. It was at a party in London for Daevid's wife's birthday that Robert "fell" through a window, which put him in a wheelchair for the duration.
So to see Robert registering in your awards is a truly magical treat! Got to hear it!!!!!!!!
