MonkeyBiz
Think about what your rhetoric is spouting. Comparing a group of Christians to the Taliban. That is HATE SPEECH at its worst. Is that all you can do is rant hateful rhetoric and then say the opposition is saying hate filled rhetoric????
You have a hate of Christians. You spout hate about them and then say they are doing what you are doing.
Your mind set is what is dangerous. Sounds like how Hitler roused people against the Jews. Are they next on your list???

How is that hate speech at its worst? Did he cry death to Christians? Is he inciting violence against Christians?
How about we come at it from a public relations side?
Christians bombed abortion clinics.
Christians want to derail science with the Biblical teachings.
Christians want officially sanctioned prayer in school.
Christians supported Bush in getting us into these wars.
Christians fight the repeal of laws that punish gays for acting gay.
Christians want abused women to stay at home with their abusers.
Weren't the OKC bombers Christian?
Weren't the IRA and the Ulsters Christian?
It doesn't really matter that it wasn't all Christians, doesn't matter that they're not even the same group of Christians.
They are the face of Christianity to people who aren't Christian.
There just are not enough out there opposing them publicly.
For every Falwell condemning gays, I should see a respected pillar of the Christian condemning Falwell.

"You have a hate of Christians. You spout hate about them and then say they are doing what you are doing."
Maybe I should clarify what my rhetoric is spouting. I strongly oppose anti-American extremists, whether they call themselves christian, muslim, jewish, communist, or purple people eaters.
I also have a strong dislike for arrogant little pinheads that claim to know what I hate, but I wouldn't waste the energy it takes to hate some poor fool that doesn't comprehend the similarity between those that wish to impose their religious beliefs on their government and other citizens, and those that wish to impose their religious beliefs on their government and other citizens.
I might discuss my religious beliefs with you if asked, but I wouldn't think of forcing you to live by my beliefs. How that means I am doing what the fundies are doing, as you claim, is beyond sense.

civlyun, I should have addressed my response to endo better. It would be impolite of me to ignore you after you came to my defense. Propeller needs an option we can use to remove an erroneous response. I did the same thing a few months ago and embarrassed myself off the thread for the rest of the night.
S'OK!

Those are not Christians who bombed the abortion clinics, they are lunatics. You know as well as I do the Christians very quickly denounce the actions of nutjobs like that unlike the muslims who support the actionsof looneys. What do you mean there are not enough people opposing the lunatics who claim to be Christian? There are millions of us here in America alone. Also, how often do "Christians" commit acts like this? How often do muslims? Because as of the end of December, muslims have committed 10,300 acts of terror since 9/11. Are you going to tell me that Christians have come any where near that? I'd be surprised if you could show 5 acts of Christian terrorism since 9/11.

Also, we were talking about Christianity vs Taliban comparisons, not Christian vs Muslim Terrorists.
I presume most of the 10,300 acts you are talking about were in Iraq itself, in which case, that Taliban were not involved. (At least not directly. I don't presume to understand that level of the politics)

> Those are not Christians who bombed the abortion clinics
They still represent themselves as Christians.
>there are not enough people opposing the lunatics who claim to be Christian?
I don't hear about them on the news. There is no respected leader that I can identify. With no leadership taking a public stand, all that means is that millions of followers aren't following their faith well, and Christianity supports it. (Who is the anti-Falwell?)
> Also, how often do "Christians" commit acts like this? How often do muslims?
You do realize we are occupying one of their countries right now? And many of them see our bases in Saudi Arabia as occupation as well.
I have personally heard many reports of Christian terrorism right here. (death threats, physical violence, etc)
How many death threats did the FSM folks get during the Evolution debates last year?
When England was doing their thing in Ireland, the IRA was certainly busy on the bombing side.

My Muslim neighbors agree that the Taliban are nutty, and that suicide bombers (different group of Muslims) are outright insane and have nothing to do with Islam. One of my work Muslim work buddies is in the same boat.
Some Christians bomb clinics.
Many Christians decry this, but quite a few support it directly, while more say nothing publicly.
Some Christians persecute gays.
Many Christians decry this, but quite a few support it directly, while more say nothing publicly.
How many Christians show up to protest Phelps?
The Pope just reaffirmed that gays are a major source of the worlds ills for Pete's sake.
Some Muslims are Taliban.
Some Muslims blow themselves up (but I don't recall any Taliban doing this).
Many Muslims support these, but quite a few support them directly, while more say nothing publicly.
Taliban represent Islam as much as anti-gay activists represent Christianity.
Suicide bombers reprent Islam as much as abortion bombers represent Christianity.
