In all seriousness, there's only one thing that worries me about Obama. I'm genuinely concerned that some @hole is going to think that America isn't ready for an African-American president, and (G-D forbid) is going to try and assassinate him.
Perhaps I'm wrong, but I suspect there are still a lot of people out there with this warped mindset.

When are party members going to stop worrying about their party and start worring about what good is for America. All Americans should look at all canidates and ask themselves who is best for our survival. I have only decided that I will not vote for Mitt who I do not trust, and Hillary who I consider is a power hungry woman who only brings more of the Clinton era. Ears are all open to the rest no matter what party.

I don't think a black guy can get elected. I would vote for him, not that I'm going to, but I see race still being a large factor in politics. The same way as Romney loses a certain % of voters because he's a Mormon, there are those that walk among us that will not vote for a candidate because of her race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, etc.

I gave you a plus because I agree with most of what you say, but I disagree that a black man cannot get elected. While it is true that some will never vote for a person of color or a woman, I do believe that the country as a whole is beyond that.
And one thing that is becoming apparent: Obama is activating millions who have never voted!

not2needy I dont believe that to be true. What I do believe to be true is America is worried about America and are really thinking about its future. Not what party someone belongs to. I thought one of the dumbest tactics was from Hillary pointing so much attention to the Bush administration. Hey wake up! Bush is not running! Look at her democratic congress that seem to be able to do nothing and they will remain in office for some time now.
Even the Democrat voters seem to be waking up to this Clinton lie and see them for what they are. Enough of dreaming. Forget parties and vote for the best man to do the job.

Republicans are worried about Obama because he represents something they can't control: a repudiation of the past thirty years of politics, the extremism of the current administration (and the entire GOP, for that matter), and an embracing of mainstream American values. All the mudslinging in the world won't change that.

Obama should not even be seriously considered for the nomination, he has no leadership expierence, he has done nothing while in office, he has done nothing but put out retoric about change and not offered any solid ideas. He is running on glamour and smooth talk.

You just replace "Bush" with "Obama" and your statement would fit like a glove except that Obama has done a lot of good!
The only difference is the resume. Obama has been in the trenches in poor Chicago neighborhoods and has done something very worthwhile, as well as teaching Law at the University, instead of buying and selling baseball teams with father's money and connections and cutting a chunk of profit for himself.
An honest day's work? Are you kidding?

Here's a prophecy, the Republicans will lose badly for all the malfunction they have introduced into Washington D.C. and I might add most incumbent Democrats will also be turned away from any leadership role.
You Republicans, do not squander your money on campaigning since it will be wasteful, do something out of the ordinary, give it to the poor and elderly. You will lose, you should lose and most of you should be prosecuted not only for corruption but abysmal leadership.
Never in the history of America have we had such corruption as the present under Bush and Pelosi's cowardly inaction to stop a war America said, STOP.

These are some of Obama's comments during a speech to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC):
... And calling for sustained military support to Israel, Obama said: "We must preserve our total commitment to our unique defense relationship with Israel by fully funding military assistance and continuing work on the Arrow and related missile defense programs."
It matters little to me that Barack Obama says he was against invading Iraq. After all, he votes to continue funding it. If this presidential candidate wanted to mend relations with Muslims, he could start by voting against additional war funding.
And he could say no to AIPAC-but this would be political suicide.

As the only Lib in the family, I took abuses on abuses during the Clinton years. Over the past seven years I have heard the same family wish Clinton were still president.
They are absolutely disgusted with the Republican Party and not too keen on any of the Republicans.
The only thing that would drive any of them to vote Republican for sure, would be if Hillary were nominated on the Dem side, which is ironic because she is probably the most conservative of the Dem candidates.

McCain, past his prime, avowed war hawk who desires illegals amnesty.
Romney, a phony just as his local newspaper has stated.
Huckabee, evangelical who would make our government a theocracy.
Thompson, you have got to be kidding, even Nixon knew and said he was not the brightest light bulb.
Rudy, the only attribute, he thinks is, 9/11.
Paul, now you have something like Obama but he worries me on the lack of knowledge concerning some issues.
So that is the Republican line up!! Can't they come up with something better?

Romney is a phony. It's too bad that he's allowed winning the race to be such a controlling factor in his principals.
Romney is bright, well educated, fairly progressive, a helluva businessman, did a great job with the Olympics and his heart is in the right place. I just can't stand the fact that he would say anything that he thinks voters want to hear.

sweetie, he's not a muslim. he's a member of the Trinty United Church of Christ. He has been for around 17 years.
And seriously think about it. Who would the leaders of Muslim countries be more willing to negotiate with: A man named Barack Huessin Obama or someone else running on either side. His name is just icing on the cake (he's a great speaker and very influetial) to better relationships between the US and middle eastern countries.

His father was not a radical muslim. His father's family were practicing muslim, but his father did not pratice religion once he moved to the states.
And while you're judging muslims, have you ever met any, talked to them attempted to understand them?
I'm a devout Christian who practices the principles in EVERY area of my life, and I lived in a muslim country for 6 weeks and it was the best experience of my life. Don't beleive everything FOX news and CNN reports to you. Most muslims don't want to blow you up.

Many here are talking about change. Well what change do we need?
1. We need to allow the Generals of our military make military decissions not Congressmen. Are these men and woman positions in the military there especcially for preforming that task?
2. We need to protect our borders. An illeagal allein is exactly that, illeagal and should be delt with in that manner.
3. Health Care- should be avalible but not forced upon. Has any goverment run program ever been sucessful?
4. Laws needed to be changed forcing race quotas. To be successful the best qualified for the job should get the job.
5. New tade agreements must be made with China and Japan that are fair and equal.
6. A new energy plan must quickly come into place and be enforced.
7. A balanced budget plan must come into place.
Here are a few now lets here YOUR ideas what we need. Remember this is YOUR election America, YOUR future. Whom ever is elected NEVER forget they are working for YOU:

I know that is a common misconception, but here are a few decent examples of what many would call successful:
1. Social Security
One of the most popular programs ever. Still in the black, if it were invested or reimbursed at a competitive rate of 7~10%, there would be zero concern about its long-term viability. Don`t blame SS because we let the pols steal from it.
2. Medicare
A fraction of the direct and indirect overhead of even the most efficient health insurance firms. Saved Americans billions in overhead, overpriced med-care, documentation, discounted reimbursements to providers, repeatedly denied claims til the problem became acute, and so on.
3. Education
Free education through high school for all is still an amazing thing if you look at the history of civilization. We have done good, even though it there will always be room for improvement.

I have had the same thought and I am still mulling it over. I thought he was very good in the NH debate. He has a quick wit and definitely has lots of knowledge and experience to add in those areas where Obama may need some trustworthy help. If he is not a part of the ticket, I'd like to see him play a key role in Obama's administration.

The Republicans are not truthfully worried about any Democrat...their main objective is to keep the two party system. If an independent were to suddenly appear...then you might see some worried politicians; period.
Neither want what Congress ordered prior to 1790...the concurring...and the only way to reach this point is for both parties to follow the Bill of Rights, ratified 1790. For both parties to follow the correct procedure of protocol and not cause abrogation of the laws.
