In the video, did you hear McCain say:
"Maybe they [Americans] didn't know what they were voting for..."?
Do Americans know what they are voting for now? Do you know which John McCain is the real one? Straight shooter of bootlicker?

The really sad thing is, I think McCain is sincere. He actually believes what he says. McCain is like the character in Orwell's "1984" who undergoes torture in the Ministry of Love (Minilove) and later reappears in the general population, alive but a mere shell of his former self. Bush-Rove worked him over so mercilessly leading up to the South Carolina primary in 2000, and the Limbaugh Coulter Faux Noise machine have skewered him so thoroughly ever since that McCain is nothing but a paper cut-out. Like Winston Smith after Minilove, McCain can say five is four and actually believe it. The psychic torture he has undergone as a politician seems to have hurt him infinitely more than the physical torture he underwent in the Hanoi Hilton. The poor pathetic bastard. Bootlicker, indeed.

"The Third Geneva Convention (or GCIII) of 1949, one of the Geneva Conventions, is a treaty agreement that primarily concerns the treatment of prisoners of war (POWs)"
The Geneva Convention GC111 1949
Article 4 defines prisoners of war to include:
4.1.1 Members of the armed forces of a Party to the conflict and members of militias of such armed forces
4.1.2 Members of other militias and members of other volunteer corps, including those of organized resistance movements, provided that they fulfill all of the following conditions:
REPEAT "fulfill all of the following conditions"
that of being commanded by a person responsible for his subordinates;
that of having a fixed distinctive sign recognizable at a distance
This means Uniforms, Markings on Vehicles things that ABSOLUTELY ID the combatants as NOT CIVILIANS.
Since they do not wear a Uniform that Id's them as combatants they have NO GCIII 1949 protection

For many years he was 1 republican that I actually liked. The horrors that the bush campaign put him through in the 2000 election seemed to have changed him into a different man. One of the false flag e mails I recieved during that 2000 election bid claimed he was a "manchurian candidate", that he was a sleeper toadie for the Viet Cong... of course I wonder who sent that? Other attrocities included phone calls pretending to be pollsters who told you his wife was a drunken lunatic and his adapted Indian daughter was a "black baby he had out of wedlock". I always thought he was a decent fellow, but after that he really changed, he tried to fit in with the people who did this to him rather than fight them. He may be a sort of Manchurian Candidate now,( A Cheneyian Candidate?) I don't know what happened to him but this is not the same man.

I think he finally realized what was required to be at the head of the New Repugnican party, and he wanted in enough to sell whatever soul he had left after the Keating Five Scandal of the 80s.
Sadly, leaving our Ron Paul, he was and is still the most decent Repugnican running this time. Imagine a President Giuliani. We'd have George Bush's lunatic leadership in the hands of someone competent at getting the wrong thing done.

"The way he rolled over on torture - just makes me wonder what GWB&Company did to him."
Maybe the RNC and Administration held out the carrot - "go with us on the torture gig and we'll help you get the nomination in 2008. Do it not, and we'll release doctored photos of you toe-tapping with Larry Craig"

I vote "Bootlicker" too. As a veteran, for him not to support the vets by standing up to the "Veterans Disarmament Act" is pathetic...

Sen. McCain was one of the senators that I'm am a little familiar with and had always thought that he had a bit of common sense, Whether it is him or his advisors there has been a change in his position on different issues. Some may say that in the excitement of the race he may be saying what he thinks the voters want too hear, if this is so then we have another politician that is only a politician and not a leader.

What happen to him in that war he fought? One can tell he suffered mentally. If there is to be another nut case then let it be the one to achieve the horrible end which will be fast. I really don't want to know I'm going to meet my maker, till I get there. Who knows He might stop them before they get to US. Bet ya if you dropped him off in the Pakistan mountains he would get the big O. I know a few crazy VNV's sitting in jail now, that would eat their hearts out to get a free get out of jail card to get the Big O. No matter what they did to get jail they would still fight for their country and win. People lick boots because they weave their minds into thinking they have to have it all. There is a lot of those out there. Take your pick.

Like Tessylo said, "McCain is now a pod person..."
I understand that in Michigan he was an Episcopalean and in South Carolina he's a Baptist.
I know a lost soul when I see one...because I've been there. However, the lies I told were to myself.
Jack sold his straight shooters for the golden nugget. Arizonians should kick him out of office and send him into retirement, where he belongs.

I am putting McCain under the microscope because he's a contender for the presidency and because he has demonstrated a lack of integrity that I don't believe should be overlooked, as our nation did with George Bush.
You may not believe there is anyone worthy of the office, but someone will fill that position. Wouldn't a responsible person want to screen out the most dangerous and support the best candidate availabe despite their flaws?
It appears to me that some of us, like yourself, want to throw the baby out with the dirty bathwater. I don't think that will help us as find a better way.

Yes, that was quite a bizarre statement. It's as though he's oblivious to the consequences we're paying.

The United States military could stay in Iraq for "maybe a hundred years" and that "would be fine with me," John McCain told two hundred or so people at a town hall meeting in Derry, New Hampshire, on Jan 3. And U.S. troops could be in Iraq for "a thousand years" or "a million years," as far as he was concerned.
Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding.

You can't even communicate here in plain intelligible English.
I hate to see what your real world thinks of you, but right here you seem very full of yourself..
your comments have been going over like a lead balloon.
It appears obvious that your persuasive skills could use quite a bit of an education.
Don't you get the true impression that you're not registering here, or is this just an exercise that your high paid psychiatrist recommended as a good outlet to spew for you?

If this ends up being a duplicate comment I apologize in advance.
I used to like McCain, but now I think he is just a panderer. He panders to whichever group he's talking to and I still say we don't need more of the same.
As Democrats, we should be looking at who can best move the country forward. Is that Hillary? Can Hillary beat a McCain/Huckabee ticket in November? Something to think about.

You really want the truth. I don't see McCain making it. He's crazy. I also do not want our troops to come home to turn around and go to another war or peace keeping mission in South Africa. We are not financially able to tote the boat. There is a hidden food shortage going on here right now. Our people are being attacked with one natural disaster after another. If the news media gave a rats behind about our country they would atleast give their coverage free to the politicians so the money we could spare, can rescue those in these disasters.

Read about his background
He comes from a military family - he is the son and grandson of two Navy four star admirals
When he was shot down in Vietnam, McCain was a lieutenant - Lieutenant John S. McCain, III
When you read his biography - Faith of My Fathers - you get the feeling that he thinks he fell short, never attaining the rank reached by his father and grandfather
I often wonder if his drive to be president is his way of reaching the level of his "fathers" - by becoming commander in chief

McCain appears to have splintered. I'm not sure if the man I saw 7 years ago was real, or if this one is. I don't say that with malice, but with real concern. I'd have voted for him 7 years ago, but certainly not today. And having witnessed his deterioration, I'm thankful I didn't get the chance to help make him President.

I gotta get off of here survival calls. Listen well and open your eyes to the very things these leaders would snow ball you with. Vote what you think will do your country right. What you think you see, sometimes has another meaning. Feel free to attack

I think it's the standard Republicans - not those who
would choose to be identified as Christian Republicans.
Who else have they got? Thompson pretty well "pooped-out";
Romney is Mormon and I think voters are hesitant because they don't have a feel for what that means for them if they themselves are not; Ron Paul wants to get rid of Income Taxes - Hell, we all hate them but you find yourself saying, "But where IS the money going to come from? Unless your a John Birch Society member you won't understand their theories;Huckabee IS the Christian Republican Party candidate and that does tend to put some people off; Giuliani? Even if you're gung-ho about his 9/11 performance, his own personal and familial ethics are out there for all to see - not a pretty picture. That leaves traditional Republicans with comfortable old John McCain, old-fashioned Republican.
None of these guys are my choice but that's what I think.

McCain's problem is he's a maverick in a party that rewards "loyalty" above all else.
I used to like him when he didn't worry about what he had to do to get the Rep nomination.
His other downside is his refusal to admit the Iraq War was a mistake. He seems to believe the only mistakes were tactical ones by Rummy (Who he NOW has no problem pointing the finger at)

I was among those who held respect for John McCain at one time.
For our first sinker, Bobo: instead of sitting on your duff and negging members remarks, state your opionion.
Normal people who sink a story, do not believe the story has merit and protest that opinion by sinking it.
And after stating their opinion, they move on elsewhere.
Vengeful and cowardly people stick around and throw stones at a distance.
Anyone who gets a negative from you, should be flattered to receive your Good Houskeeping Seal of Disapproval. How about another neg?

Bobo sank your story because you're insinuating that this American hero is a bootlicker. I like the way you write, Spadecaller, but I don't like the name calling. It's beneath you. Having said that, I want to congradulate both McCain and Clinton. I thought Senator Clinton was awesome...it was an incredibly moving speech.
Now I will sink your story and move on.

He's a public figure and when a candidate contradicts himself, I have no problem in describing their behavior in the most direct terms. I'm sorry it offends you; but it is your choice to take it that way.
Btw, who appointed you Bobo's surrogate spokesman? You and I may disagree on this particular story, however, you had the decency to at least state your reason respectfully for sinking the story.
Lastly, considering McCain's conduct, I think my critique is relatively benign. I only posed the question; straight shooter or bootlicker? So, I must assume you believe he's a straight shooter. I don't. I presented my REASONS. Did you?
Thanks for your opinion.

I also liked and respected McCain service to our country and would have really considered voting for him 7 years ago.
I just find it strange that he just seemed to cave to the attacks shrub and his group did to him and his family. I could not understand how McCain an actual war hero could be slammed by a coward who avoided real service like shrub. It was as if they found out something or had something on McCain and he just tucked his tail and cowered. I still can not believe it to this day. He appears to be a shell of the man he once was....how sad.

That's exactly my take also. Before that meeting behind closed doors with GWB, he sounded like there was no compromising on the Geneva Convention.
I can only wonder one of two things; had he fooled me all along, or did he change? I don't know.
What I do know is, he has proven his lack of integrity by his own contradictory statements about important issues. Consequently, I could not responsibly cast a vote for this man.

So sorry, he is not crazy, he is not liying, he is not trying to outdo his father. He is as close to a human being as you get in this campain.
Every one else IS liking boots trying to impress this group or the other to gain power.
McCain has maintained the same principles for years, he is not getting out of Irak because we can't, any one else is not talking about hoping tyhe war goes away or we win the battle. He is not telling us what plans he has is because there is no chance of comming out for a long time. It would be like leaving a wounded marine on the field. There is an embassy and personel to protect, maybe we should trust soldiers of fortune to finish the job?
