The Cheneyites nearly started WWIII over "Filipino Monkey" radio signal... »
Posted By populist 1 year, 9 months ago in NewsWhat century are we living in? Can someone explain to me how the US Navy quite literally almost declared war on Iran on the basis of a radio transmission from a phantom voice known as the "Filipino Monkey" (not my term by the way) radio transmission?

Bush, Cheney and the neocons, would like to resort to nuclear terrorism, but they would never get away with it. Were not for the September 11 terrorism, it might succeed. It would easy, all the evidence would be vaporized, and Israel could plant the bomb.

Hey - does anybody remember the initial breathless account?
Why is no one mentioning the white boxes the Iranians
supposedly floated ominously in the water? If that was such
a key part of the original drama - Well, what happened?
No one picked it out of the sea to determine what the heck
it was? Let me hazard an irreverant guess........ Take out?
As their story loses credibility they move along and leave
unanswered questions. We didn't bite so, back to the
drawing-board to work on the next scenario - eh?

The Repugnicans on the campaign trail were falling over each other to see who could bluster the loudest. Saying stuff like the next time this happens we should fire first. Don't give them a chance to get off a fatal shot.
Give me a break. A speed boat with a machine gun versus a Frigate? That's like me attacking a rhinoceros with a BB gun. Sure you don't let them come alongside where they might be able to detonate an explosive device. But blowing a small craft out of the water when it's 200 yards away. More Gulf of Tomkin fakery.

It's not close enough to the election to start an international incident so we can bomb Iran. Wait a few more months. I'm guessing July. Yep, July would be good.
I don't think it will work. By now people are tired of the WMD and all the other BS shenanigans, but we'll see.
Already 1/3 of our budget is going to war. The economy has been in the dumpster since 2001. The last bastion of our economy--real estate is now failing hard. It could get worse before we kick out those crooks. And then it will take YEARS to recover our economy. What are we showing our children?
