Posted by: not2needy 1 year, 10 months agoA simmering feud between Democrats Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama erupted into charges of distortion and exaggeration in a gloves-off presidential debate Monday, with Clinton accusing him of representing a Chicago slumlord and Obama countering that she was a corporate lawyer for anti-union Wal-Mart.

Jan. 21, 2008, 9:38 p.m.FTA:
As Obama tried to defend his recent comments about Republican ideas and Ronald Reagan, Clinton interrupted and said she has never criticized his remarks on Reagan.
"Your husband did," said Obama, who has accused the former president of misrepresenting his record.
"I'm here. He's not," she snapped.
It's being reduced to personal attacks. This really disturbs me!

Jan. 21, 2008, 10:07 p.m.What this tells me;Bill Clinton can sling slime that Hillary can deny she had anything to do with...unless nobody buys their tag-teaming...

Jan. 21, 2008, 10:10 p.m.I watched the debate.... a good one. Obama and Clinton clashed a bit....it could have been worse. I like Obama... new... fresh. Though I would have to say Clinton is strong and determined.

Jan. 21, 2008, 10:22 p.m.Edwards had a tough time getting into the mix. I have no problem with the candidates mixing it up a little bit. It'll sharpen their instincts for the onslaught from the right wingers.

Jan. 21, 2008, 10:29 p.m.I like Edwards, but he has an uphill battle. Hillary is sounding shrill and agitated when she spars with Obama. Obama seems reasoned and he's handling this very well. I think this is his best debate so far...
Go Obama!

Jan. 21, 2008, 10:34 p.m.I think Obama will be lucky to carry any southern states, (but that's not to say it couldn't happen).
HOWEVER, I believe the states in the west - Nevada and New Mexico, to give a couple of examples - will hold the key to who wins the next election. And let not forget the popular votes in SEVERAL states won by Bush in 2004 were by razor thin margins. So anything could happen. The truth is, WE DON'T KNOW...
I will say this: if the race IS between Obama and ANY REPUBLICAN RUNNING, Obama wins.
With Hillary, I'm not so sure, especially if she is up against McCain (especially since people like me and many others will vote for a 3rd party candidate - like Mike Bloomberg - if she is the Democratic nominee).

Jan. 21, 2008, 10:36 p.m.I like Obama and i think Hillary and Bill are double teaming him, his statement FTA: I can't tell who I'm running against sometimes," Obama countered.----
I know Bill is going to counsel Hillary, that's to be expected, but it's very bad sportsmanship for them to double team Obama, he doesn't have his wife there attacking Bill!

Jan. 21, 2008, 11:09 p.m.Generally speaking in three person debates when two people are going at it, the third usually benefits - thus Edwards may have scored a few points tonight.

Jan. 21, 2008, 11:26 p.m.I give Obama better odds of beating a Republican candidate than Hillary. The Clintons are just plain slimey. You can bet the GOP will go after her using all of her past actions.

Jan. 22, 2008, 12:36 a.m.I wish they would be more civil. Besides the stark philosophical differences between the dems and the repugs, the nastiness is a repug trait that we shouldn't be wallowing in.
For the prognosticators in the repug primary. Find out who Diebold supports and you will have your winner.

Jan. 22, 2008, 12:43 a.m.FTA - "Obama told the former first lady he was helping unemployed workers on the streets of Chicago when "you were a corporate lawyer sitting on the board at Wal-Mart."
That's really not fair of Barack to point this out. Everyone knows Hillary was just a WINO during those years on the board.

Jan. 22, 2008, 6:01 a.m.billery wouldnt get 2/3rds the votes that she is getting if it wasnt for her husband.I was channel surfing last night and the news guy said that Oboma and Clinton exchanged words, so i left it on that channel to see what they said. The news people had a picture of Bill super imposed over Obama. Make no mistake obama is running againt a machine and a former person and they will stop at nothing to get there office back.

Jan. 22, 2008, 6:38 a.m.We the people of the United states all have been proven with facts the the Clintons are liars. We know how Bill used the white house. How could anyone in their right mind even consider voting them back in.

Jan. 22, 2008, 8:56 a.m.I hope the mud slinging wraps up soon, I felt that Barack would be above this but when people (Bill) starts spreading lies about things it seems the only defense is get down and get dirty, something I feel that the Clintons are very good at. If the Dems don't get back to the issues the outcome in the long run is giong to hurt their presidential chances.
