I'm not holding my breath on that one, so to speak.
But maybe the feds will at least recognize the states' rights to determine their own laws on the matter. Right now, the feds are cracking down on dispensaries in California that the California legislature has made legal.

It does say in the article that a security guard stands watch over the machines.
My understanding of the way the dispensaries are run in California, is that they're private offices where the actual drugs are under lock and key and behind several doors--I imagine the vending machines would be behind several barriers as well.
Unless someone is willing to rob them with a gun, I don't see how anyone could just break into the machine and take the drugs. It would be like robbing a pharmacy. People try, but it's not very easy.

WOW! According to the article on www.sciencedaily.com I should have been dead long ago!
One thing in the article puzzles me a bit. They claim that smoking pot causes a condition in people an average of 41 years as to what their lungs should be at 65 years!! Then in practically the next sentence they tell you it can only be detected with a CAT scan, that people with this disease are totally unaware of the condition, it doesn't show up in x-rays or breathing difficulty. So just how "destructive" can this disease possibly be if it is so innocuos you show no symptoms even though your lungs are so much worse?!

How many different strains and varieties of this plant are there? Differing potency levels? Differing psychological experience and level? Differing efficacy with specific ailments? What about the non-smoking consumption, which negates the lung cancer argument?
All MJ is not the same any more than all herbal supplements are the same. I wonder how they decide on which few varieties make it into the machine.

I've noticed that no one has commented on one of the more subtle effects of marijuana consumption which is its effect on blood pressure and what it does to the circulatory system. Marijuana increases a persons blood pressure by 25 - 50% above normal levels for at leasts a few hours by constricitng the blood vessels and requiring the heart to use more force to push blood through the body, including the brain. This is an effect you may not notice right away but if you have access to a BP monitor and you smoke, try it out and see what happens.

When you work out your pulse quickens and your blood pressure goes up too. Does that mean that working out is bad for you too? No, your body can handle it. Infact, that's the whole point of working out. The process of your blood pressure going up for a certain period of time then back to normal makes the heart stronger. Just thought I'd throw this out. And I do know there are differences, but if your body can handle the blood pressure of working out, it can handle the increased pressure from getting high. Besides, I'm pretty sure it's not even 25% increase.

Strange you should bring up this angle. In fact, I have done exactly what you state.
I have a friend that has high blood pressure and smokes pot. I had heard about this possible effect, so I tested it myself.
In the first ten to fifteen minutes his diastolic blood pressure went up very slightly while his systolic pressure went up between 5 - 10. After roughly 15 minutes however, the diastolic pressure dropped about 5 points and the systolic pressure dropped by 15!

if you don't understand what damage hypertension can do the body I suggest you research it a bit more. I have worked in a hospital and I would say 8 out of 10 patients have hypertension as a major contributing factor to their condition.

You clearly know nothing about actual drugs besides for what you're told by television and in movies like Reefer Madness. Come on people! Meth and E. Get a grip. These drugs are in completely different classes with no health benefits at all. Marijuana benefits people dying of cancer. It lets them eat and feel a little better. This is whom it is going to be used for.

#1 - Anyone sick or dying should be able to ingest whatever they want to ease their suffering. No freaking questions asked by any man-made government. It's unconscionable that the dying are denied comfort.
#2 - Legalize it and get it out of the hands of the crooks, criminals and government. Allow the market to control the distribution the same as alcohol and cigarettes are sold.

"#2 - Legalize it" and away from the pharmacuticals that do far more harm to your bodies organs!!
"a person put in his body was considered to be constitutionally protected." so some where our constitutional right was taken from us....that sucks.
Excuse me for a moment while I suck down some speed...(drinking cup of coffee)
