No "recreational" drug is good for children. Common sense.
LOL on the mental problems. Sorry. That is insensitive to say to a guy who DAMNS an entire group with your avatar name.
When I was a kid we pronounced it "mehnt-ul."

Look, Danm.
The article I posted is actually really about the novelty of marijuana being sold in vending machines. If you read the story, you'll see that only those who have been pre-screened--photographed, fingerprinted, and given a prescription by a medical doctor and issued a card--can use the machines. A security guard stands watch.
There is absolutely NO danger whatsoever of teenagers using the machines.
Marijuana has been legalized for medical use--highly regulated I might add--in California and several other states. You may not like marijuana's recreational use, but recreational use has nothing to do with this article.
Its medical efficacy has been demonstrated in clinical trials. If you disagree with medical use of marijuana, are you going to be consistent and come out against doctors prescribing morphine, Percocet, Vicodin and the like for patients in pain? Why isn't your beef with doctors not screening patients well, rather than medical use of marijuana?

How do you think people like Rush Limbaugh get prescriptions for oxycontin?
It's the EXACT same thing--you go to a doctor. If the doctor is not ethical, he gives out prescriptions too liberally.
Again, it sounds as though your problem is with the doctors--if they're doing their jobs the way they're supposed to, then people who are not sick don't get the cards.

Um... DL, your whole argument makes no sense. If your kids want to get drugs they will. Legal or illegal they are available on the street. If you don't believe that, you need to pull your head out. It's your job to educated your own children on the dangers and not the media. A drug becoming legal for medical use doesn't mean it'll make it more available to your kids, that again is the parents fault for not securing it in their own home. Your or others' failures of being a parent and not educating your kids doesn't take the medical benefits away from Marijuana. And if you really knew anything about marijuana besides for all of the BS anti drug crap that's out there, you'd realize there is a huge difference between "heroine, cocaine, and meth." along with Mushrooms. And if you were really as smart as you think you are you'd realize that Heroine is pretty much the same thing as morphine. And again that is regulated by the medical community/gov.

Kids don't need MJ when they can get into their parents medicine cabinet. There are far more worse things being abused then MJ.
"I go into the doctor, make a fake injury, and get a marijuana card." Unfortunatly there are bad Doctors that will do anything for a price, much like government employees. But you can not fake blood work, CAT scans and other medical tests proving your disease. I guess in your eyes Cancer patients should just Suffer in silence.

Besides that, no drug dealers are asking for ID. It's easier for kids to get "illegal drugs" easier than beer or cigarettes.
Connection between marijuana and cancer? Not yet, despite "hundreds of carcinogens". Fact is, most medical users are vaporizing their marijuana for zero-carcinogen relief.
The medical benefits, both real and probable, are easy enough to find to prove a point. The studies CORRELATING marijuana use to mental illness, or other problems seem to be that... only correlations, certainly no evidence to prove a point.
For the record, I'd rather not catch my kid with ANY drugs, including the most deadly ones- tobacco and alcohol. But I'd rather find him using marijuana, which is relatively harmless. You can bet there'd be problems for him. I'd want to know where he got the money, first.

I think you still have some mental problems and they don't stem from marijuana. Go see a shrink dude.

which is it, from 15 to 25, or your whole life? and the odds that your "mental problems" were caused by marijuana are pretty slim. some peoples excuse is "i was drunk" are you saying that yours is "i have mental problems because i smoked pot"?

Damn-Well just like alcohol, it should be regulated. I do not smoke weed, haven't for many many years, but I'm totally for them legalizing it FOR ADULTS. I wouldn't want it to be legal for kids anymore then alcohol is. Regardless if it's legalized or not, there will be kids getting it and doing it, same as it's been for alcohol.

I agree, prohibition never works. It just adds the criminal element to it, just like Joe Kennedy and moonshine.
