Mc Cain winning Florida shows that the conservative movement has failed. Mc Cain is a moderate/liberal. Hooray to the failure of the ultra conservative movement in America. America has returned to it's moderate roots.

Take a look at the high profile legislation McCain has attached his name to in the last few years

McCain-Feingold - that gave us supression of free speech and the current corrupt campaign finance regulations

Kennedy-McCain - the immigration reform debacle that didn't pass after the public learned about the details in the bill

McCain-Lieberman the carbon emissions cap and trade scheme or should I say scam?

According to an analysis by the Energy Information Administration (EIA) and the Congressional Budget Office, it would be disastrous. For example, the restrictions would likely increase energy costs by 30-50 percent, and reduce U.S. GDP by $106 billion. That amounts to a tax increase of about $1,000 on every American household.

      http://eteam.ncpa.org/news/what-impact-would-mc...

Should do wonders for the economy, shouldn't it?

        ... A reduction of $106 billion...

Out of 13 trillion??? Not even 1%??? That's acceptable.

You can't look at it as a tax increase, as much as a well-needed decrease in spending. It's a nice way to do it.

A decrease on spending??? It would be a tax on the average American - that is who would be required to pay for this. It wouldn't be a decrease in government spending - they would go on spending their way into debt

AG was really "wishing" a winner. Choosing to listen to the old guy behind the Circle K isn't the way to pick anything.

It seems the "MSM" polls were entirely right on, for the most part.

Romney will be hit, and hard, throughout the south.

Be kind to AG she has lost a father figure & a would be duce all in a short time.

At least she'll be able to see old newsreels of McCain when he was really a war hero & maybe be able to make a new bond.

"The Dems are not going to win the next presidential election, there's just no way. Sorry, but we will have a Repub in 08!"

You mean just like Repubs were elected in 2006? Oh wait, the Republicans didn't win in 2006-- in fact, despite gerrymandering (a la Tom Delay) and new laws making it very difficult to unseat an incumbent, the Republican incumbent majority was booted from BOTH chambers of Congress in 2006.

Well only if you consider corruption our moderate roots.

                John McCain, Hypocrite

Politics â»» McCain sold favors to jailed Savings and Loan kingpin and junk-bond racketeer Charles Keating in the S&L scandals that rocked Congress in the early '90s - costing taxpayers some $600 billion. Now, McCain is back at the same old game, this time on behalf of Cablevision.

                http://politics.propeller.com/story/2008/01/29/...

Don't be fooled by the myth of John McCain

Do No Evil â»» McCain is the candidate we should most avoid. His history is one of "silver spoons", academic failure, nepotism, marrying into wealth, corruption and extreme violence. McCain took huge campaign donations as "protection money" from a fraudster called Charles Keating. He has consistently supported violent suppression of democracies.

Great insight, for a liberal. Let's take a hard look at what really happened. In Florida you had only one race that counted. The DNC refused to count their own votes this time, so much for the party that "cares". The GOP got screwed once again by the DNC. Most of the supposed independents who voted were probably Dems just crossing lines. McCain is a dead man walking as far as the conservative base is concerned. He's lied to us and taken stands opposing us far to many times for us to ever trust him. His winning the ticket is a guarantee win for whomever wins the DNC nomination.

That is POOR insight, even for a neocon. The FACT is that the Florida primary is a CLOSED PRIMARY--meaning only REGISTERED REPUBLICANS were allowed to participate in the Republican primary. McCain won because Republicans voted for him, NOT because Independents and Democrats crossed over to vote for him.

It's amazing how much misinformation you spread.

                    http://election.dos.state.fl.us/online/faq.shtm...

"Since Florida is a closed primary state, only voters who are registered members of the two major political parties (Republicans and Democrats) may vote for their respective party's candidates in a primary election. Registered minor political party voters and voters without party affiliation are not eligible to vote for major party candidates in a primary election."

You're talking about a state that couldn't figure out who won the 2000 election by simply holding a recount of the whole state, they're goofy again. It may be closed primary, but they permitted you to declare at the polling places. It has been reported that tons of people declared the day of the election just to vote. For the big election, they will simply change parties again and vote for Obama. Did I go too fast for you or did PBS mis-report this last night?

A national election is different from a primary. If Florida Republicans are too incompetent to run their own primary elections, then blame falls solely on those Republicans, not on the entire state of Florida.

This should be easy to settle as the Republican and Democratic Party both have lists of their own registered members. If, as you claim, Democrats crossed over to vote for McCain, then post documentation showing how many voters in the Republican primary had previously registered as Democrats in past primary elections. If you can't provide proof, you have nothing but empty insinuation and conspiracy theory.

FYI, Michigan Democrats didn't cross party lines in huge numbers to vote for McCain in Michigan. I don't see how Florida Democrats could be THAT much different.

I've been searching NPR and PBS but I haven't been able to find the exact story. I'm not sure if they've pulled it because of an error, mis-information or even if it ended up being a bogus piece, people do lie when polled during elections. I know I heard it yesterday. I will continue to try to locate this.

You got a positive because of your expounding about only one election counting, an important observation. But there were no crossover or independent votes, it was a closed primary.

Let's say McCain were to run against Hillary, who do you think they'd vote for? He still has a reluctant conservative base who demographics show do vote.

Very big win for Senator John McCain. He is now well on his way to winning the Republican nomination.

Big vote totals for Senator Clinton as well.

                  Congrats to both!

                        SAINTETIENNE:

"the Silent Majority steps in at the 11th hour and handily puts a Republican in the White House in '09."

Is this the same "Silent Majority" that propelled the Republicans to victory in the 2006 elections? Oh wait, the Republicans lost in 2006, didn't they? In fact, despite gerrymandering (a la Tom Delay) and new laws making it extremely difficult to unseat an incumbent, Republicans managed to lose the majority in BOTH chambers of Congress.

No, ICCARUS' analysis is sound. The same disillusionment that kept Republicans from going to the polls in the 2006 elections is keeping many of them at home for the 2008 primaries.

Why do you think McCain, the Republican that neocons love to hate, is winning? McCain is winning because normal Republican voters are revolting from the extreme rightwing minority that has perverted the Republican party. The "Silent Majority" has spoken--they want a moderate Republican like McCain.

Exactly my point. Which is why the Dum-o-crats don't stand a chance in '08. Put either Hillary or Foot Locker salesboy on the ballot, and that party loses.

The Democrats blew it. There are not enough people to elect either of those two amateurs into the White House.

That sounds similar to what Karl Rove said immediately before Republicans were ousted from both chambers of Congress in 2006. Go ahead. Keep trumpeting your false confidence. It will only make your continued fall from grace that much more entertaining.

Don't get me wrong I will still back the Democrat's this cycle. The Republicans still need a slap down for the last 7 years. But if the Democrats screw it up I will scream for their heads as well. The Republicans have had 7 years and have ******ed them away. Democrats I warn you don't make the same mistake.

the only problem with a McCain win is that i think hes actually more electable than romney. i was really hoping huckabee would get the nomination because hed be so easy to beat. as for rudy, now he can start looking for #5.

At least with Huckabee (though not electable) we would have somewhat of a choice. If McCain wins we are guarenteed to have a Democrat in the White House. The only question is will it be the Democrat running on the Democratic ticket or will it be the Democrat running on the Republican ticket.

I do listen to talk radio some (maybe 15 minutes a day or less) but my views are my own. Actually, Limbaugh has often referred to Huckabee as the Democrat in the Rupublican race and I am a Huckabee supporter and feel he is the most Republican of the Republican candidates. But back to McCain, other than his views on the war on terror, how is he different from democrats? He agrees with the democratic position on abortion, taxes, limited free speech, illegal immigration, and gay marriage which go against the views of most republicans.

BTW, do you listen to talk radio? If you don't, then how can you make that judgment?

Paul is the only one close to being a conservative. He's the only one who understands that pursuing an $180 billion a year effort in Iraq is not conservative, plus the consideration of the tens of thousands of casulties.

I am not impressed with Ron at all. He talks like someone in need of help. He talks of running away from Iraq and supporting an isolationist role for this nation. Wrong, wrong, wrong. We're the last big dog with Communist China on the rise. We need to take an active roll in the world around us. We tried hiding under a rock in 1941 and it didn't work. We were pulling back before 9-11 and it didn't help. We need to make it clear to friend and foe alike, be our friend and we're your friend through thick and thin. Hurt us or one of our friends and will make your life very unhappy.

Back to Ron, with his convoluted message, it amazes me how he can get 3-4% of the vote amazes me. Then again, how anyone would vote for Hillary with Bill as baggage or that Barrack has very little experience only tells me the TV generation has taken over. 15-20 second spots, lots of name calling and the like. No actual ideas or plans. Lots of poles and decisions following the wind.

                                  Ron Paul is not impressive.

                                  He is practical.

                                  He is a strict constitutionalist.

He is for individual self government.

                                  He is for state autonomy.

                                  He is for limited government.

He is for a strong DEFENSE. Not OFFENSE.

He is for non-nation building. No world policing.

Non of these is remarkable nor impressive merely practical for the nation.

You want impressive. McCain is extraordinary. Just ask him.

heres the funny part... those who were rudy supporters are way more likely to gravitate toward McCain than Romney. translation, McCain WILL be the republican nominee. the radio heads will have to get people to forget how bad they have been trashing him once they start to support him in the general election.

If McCain gets the nomination (or should I say when) then this will be the first presidential election I've voted in (and I've voted in every presidential election since I was able to in 1976) in which I will go into the booth with the only objective of deciding on the lesser of two evils.

I can't stand the fat guy or any of the other talkers but Still is right. John is not a conservative and never will be. He's not a friend for most of us. McCain Feingold, McCain Kennedy and the like. He's certainly a rhino at best and a closeted Democrat at worst.

If he's the nomination, I will have a very difficult time voting for him much less making any contribution to the party.

Electable is not what this country needs! We need people in government who are "honorable" and who will "obey" the oath of office they would be required to take.

What we don't need is the best "candidate" money or the MSM can shove down our throats!

Amazing downfall for Rudy considering his early polling numbers last summer and fall... He only had one issue to run on and that was 9/11. The more people saw of this man the more they disliked him.

Time Magazine is reporting that Rudy will get out of the race on Wednesday and will endorse John McCain.

Everyone in NYC knows Rudy for what he is - thankfully the rest of the country is coming to know that too.

The left can attack Rudy all they want but I liked what he did in New York. I remember when fast Eddie Koch was running things. Crime was huge. Adult book shops all over Times Square, hookers everywhere, and the live sex shows. Rudy promised to clean things up and he did a pretty good job. You can rip on his lifestyle or infidelity but as someone who live in New York before and after, I like what he did.

Yeah, by stealing your car for mere suspicion of solicitation or DUI. To get it back you had to sue the city in civil court. How many years do you have to that in assuming the car hasn't already been disposed of by public auction or scrap metal?

Can you say "DUE PROCESS" or the total lack thereof?. Rudy was and is a tyrant. His picture should be next to Hitler, Sadam, Lenin and Mao under tyrant in all dictionaries.

Clinton didn't win anything. The DNC nullified that primary as well as Michigan's. Unlike Michigan, where Clinton refused to support the DNC, other Democratic candidates were already on the ballot in Florida. Clinton broke her vow not to campaign in Florida (unless all those Clinton lawn signs were left over from 1996). Now her and hubby are pushing to make the votes count. She's a cynical political operative who'll do anything to get elected. I won't vote GOP, but I don't know if I can hold my nose tight enough to vote for her.

Huh? Where have you been? She most certainly won. If it didn't matter, why else would they bother to count the votes? You jokers that say it doesn't matter make me laugh! The rest of the country know which candidate Florida voted for and as the votes tell us...Florida wants McCain and Clinton. It is time for a woman as president.

I would sugggest that you don't talk about "mormon cult" until you consider the church that Obama attends.

If you bring up religion on the Republican side it makes religion on the Democrat side fair game.

was there ever a doubt of that course of action for whoever won the atate? the way it will probably play out at the convention is that the other delegates will end up voting on whether the Fla delegation gets seated.... the candidate with the most delegates will win that vote.

"She simply says NOTHING about it. WHY?????"

Because she doesn't have a clue. She is in WAY over her head already. It will be fun to watch her fumble and fall over the next few months, and see Billy BJ go down with her.

And the Foot Locker salesboy can NOT get elected.

                                                  This party is FINISHED.

The idiot with the "9/11" tattooed on his forehead is finally out of the running. He was the "LEAST" qualified candidate for the office after Bush. Of course, Bush did not get elected, he was appointed by his cons in the Supreme Court. As for 2004 win, the elections were rigged by Karl Rowe & Amigo Gonzo.

I thought the bigger story would be that he was in the race in the first place. :)

thats possible now that edwards has dropped out. but dont count on it. he clearly aligned himself with the obama camp, attacking her, along with sen obama, as being part of the problem in washington. hed make a hell of an attorney general though. in all fairness, because of his record as a prosecutor, rudy might deserve some consideration (for atty gen) as well. he was a bulldog and went after the mafia big time.

I wonder if they will recount in Florida until they get the result they want. It didn't work before but maybe it will work this time.

McCain has shown that the Republican nomination has become a one man show, and doubtful his opponents have any chance. However, I am pulling for Hillary to win the democratic nomination as well as Presidency. Though would it not be oh so interesting, to have Clinton as President and McCain as VP lol. There is always room for firsts, and McCain is closer to being a Democrat then any other candidate. Why not have a Democrat and Republican running the show?? Would certainly show the country that both parties are at least working together to improve our status as the one almighty country, and make much needed improvements through out America and the system. Just an idea.

I think McCain is the Bob Dole of this election. War hero who the press will play nice with until the election. Then it's a no holds bar free for all and McCain has as many skeletons as the Clinton's do.

McCain isn't a very nice guy. I suspect you will see tons of stories tearing him apart. Of course not until he wins the GOP nomination.

The time is right to invest in any business conducted with illegal aliens as cheap labor. Amnesty is a fact of life so accept it as we were forced to accept this war of aggression in Iraq. The war was voted for by these two highly "experience" leaders of yore. American says one thing and our McCain & Hillary are more wiser than us.

I think the big teller here is the turnout on the Democratic side. Even though the state had no delegates up due to holding the primary early the Democrat turnout was only slightly smaller then the GOP turnout. Of course Clinton actively campaigned in the state and is now trying to get the delegates from Florida. The real question is who would of won in Florida on the Democrat side if Obama had campaigned? Obama, not campaigning in Florida, managed to obtain 33% of the vote. That is telling. I think as time goes on and Obama campaigns more actively that people are going to begin to support him over Clinton. His Caroline Kennedy endorsement is big for crossover votes and his Ted Kennedy endorsement is big for those who look for experience. Obama, of all the candidates, has the best chance of victory. I think Edwards has a chance to play nominee maker here, as does Giuliani.

She said at the rally I attended that we just can't go to every American door in the US and pick up illegals. Which is true. Are you going to let the law come in with a search warrant and search your home for an illegal when you don't have one? It's better to set up a way to round them up and deport the ones that are not legal. There was one at a convenience store not far from where I live buying beer. His identity card was a month expired and the register lady told him she could not sell him beer. He left and she ask me who you gonna call? As for the war vote the Bush Administration is mainly responsible for that. 911 put an anger in this country after all we are human beings that lost loved ones. Hillary cared about Flordia and went there anyway.

He wanted people in the US to be required to learn Spanish so the Hispanics wouldn't have to learn English. Bush wanted to allow them to drive without license OR insurance, and wanted to fly their flag along with ours. Congress stopped him, now he's screaming about border fences, like it was his idea and Congress has been holding him up. He's a freaking joke.
