somewhat of a surprise. I thought he would hang in there until after Super Tuesday. I wonder if he endorses Obama today.

Jan. 27 I wrote
"Someone needs to explain to him,
"Look Buckie,
You ran for Pres in 04 and lost.
You ran as a VP in 04 and lost.
After 1 term as Senator your state, NC, fired you,
and tonight the state you were born in said thanks but no thanks.
In politics, this might just be what they call "A CLUE"
It took another humiliating defeat for him to finally get it.
BTW considering his election track record what exactly would the value of his endorsement be?
Same for any pol of any party with a similar track record?

I think he is doing the right thing...he doesn't have that thing that is needed to win. What ever that is...i just didn't see him as the guy to fix what ails this nation.

That is surprising, but it looks like both parties are cutting their losses early.

I really wish all the candidates would stay in the race untill more than half of the states have had the opportunity to vote. This way it gives voters more choices instead of being narrowed down before they even have an opportunity to walk into the voting booth.

I think they should just change how primaries are held. There should be voting, no caucusing and there should be, perhaps, two election dates a couple weeks apart. This would allow at least half the country an opportunity to actually have a choice and a vote. It would also allow for some adjustments in campaign stratigies for the second rounmd of voting.
This would be entirely fair by giving EVERY voting person an equal voice rather than two states that don't neccessairly have the same ideas, ideals and concerns as the other 95% of the population.

Why don't we change the "ORDER" of the primaries. We could
Put 50 state names on cards and draw them randomly.
Start primaries West to East North to South or any combination.
It is undeniable that MOST of the country doesn't really have a voice in who ultimately running for Prez

For the primary I think i'll still vote for Kucinich. After that.....
Paul? He's a texan. Consider what the last two texans have done in the White House. No thanks.
He's a republicon. Consider what the republicons have been doing for the last twelve years. No thanks.

This makes me furious. Why bother to have an election at all? Just let those few states decide our fate. I'm sure they'd do a FINE job, especially Florida.

Jordan think about it
As I posted above:
If there would be a switch to a single day primary nationwide, you would have even fewer people get into the race to begin with.
They would have to be independently wealthy or already be bought and paid for by special interests
At least with the current system you get some candidates who are not well funded that are able to get some media attention and at least a chance

It seems to be entirely about money.
In the primaries (Democratic) I am still fidgeting but
I liked Edwards. Paul Krugman actually liked Edwards' health
care plan best and Edwards' plan was the first and only one
out there for quite a while. I think the press had given him
so little coverage that the campaign had to realize without
media attention and money sources diminishing......they were
on a lost cause. We can kid ourselves that the almighty
VOTERS are making these decisions - but we are not the
determining factor in "our" elections.

You know those corporations that create the cars, drugs, pollution that could or do harm to you or your family? Or the ****** poor DR who could kill you on the operating table? THOSE are the people your 'ambulance chaser' took down. You just keep on voting against your own best interests, and making childish remarks. That'll work for ya.

"Edwards had some very good ideas and thoughts on how to fix some of the gargantuan messes the current moron in charge has made."
Considering how badly Skippy has been slapped since 04, a consistent losing streak, un parallel in modern politics, Id have to question your "judgment" on all of the above.

tessylo,
You don't upset me even when you chronically take things out of context.
I am not obsessed with Edwards' hair but that is all that he has going for him and I don't want to cheat him out of that. Other than that, he is a light weight.
And keep your cigarette smoke away from me. You know how I can get (at least according to you). Your rights are more important than anyone else's. All hail Tessylo.

Don't believe it, jumpmaster. Tissue-lo, with nothing better to do with her time except stare out the nursing home window and wonder why her children hate her so much, reads EVERY post on Nutscape, then gets frustrated...then angry....then APOPLECTIC.... kicking and yelling, hitting herself in the head and putting food in her "lustrous strawberry blond naturally curly" hair when someone posts something she doesn't agree with. At which point the nurses come running with the sedatives, and the orderly takes away her computer privileges for yet ANOTHER week.
But we all love you, Tissue-lo. Why, a group of us have even chipped in to buy you a shiny new drool cup for this, your 94th(?) birthday!
(Let's all lay off Tissue-lo for awhile. Just because she's hagged-out, old and confused, doesn't mean she has no feelings)
Happy birthday, Tissue-lo! Many, MANY crappy returns!

"shooting people in the head with your .357 magnum if they mistakenly blow cigarette smoke your way - or if they happen to be within a mile radius of you."
You can't hit someone with a .357 magnum at 1 mile, that would be a problem even with the .50 BMG.
If you really want to reach out and touch someone a 1 mile ya have to use something like the CheyTac .408

The political parties now have the pair of candidates they wish to make money advocating their past records of non achievement.
Every political party affiliate is drooling at the prospect of their candidate winning and they already have a Christmas list of wants and needs to be fulfilled. So every time you see a party member advocating their candidate just ask yourself, how many dollars is in his/her wish list.
"Change", "experience" with Hillary and McCain, yeah right and tea leaves grow in the arctic.
McCain the perpetual war loving despot for the world.
Hillary the candidate of the weather vane and divisiveness.
Both adore the fact illegals will benefit with our social programs and Amnesty. This equates to more debt for you to pay, if possible. Meanwhile our rich have cheap labor for themselves while we pay the future bills. Oh, and the war goes from long to never ending with either candidate.

Some people just can't seem to get their point across. Edwards was one of them. He had some good ideas but just couldn't convince people he deserved a chance. The other shameful aspect of our political process is the money factor. Without it it doesn't matter who you are or what your programs are you won't succeed. This is too bad because only the wealthy become presidents. There are several solutions to this problem but I don't see any of them happening.
