Thats right. Did you see "the Matrix"? Coral and endo did not take the blue pill and are living a complete illusion.
Actually Clinton bent over backwards to come up with that balanced budget, There is no truth at all to "kicking and screaming". There is no supportive evidence in these claims in 30 years.

Wasn't Bill the one who closed down the government in a budget standoff with the Republicans until they presented a budget he would approve? Sounds like they where the one's kicking and screaming.

"And the Socialist claim Bush is cutting programs for the poor."
--How many times do I have to remind you that you're gleefully paying for Bush and the GOP's health insurance, salaries, pensions and other perks (not to mention billions in subsidies to Big Oil)? Cons are some of the biggest socialists on the planet. They just distribute their wealth upwards. Think about it...

Also not to mention the over 10 billion that was "sent to Iraq" that just went missing! No explainations, just missing!

n2n,
That money was in CASH, stacked on a number of pallets.
It cannot just "disappear"! Someone knows where it went, and sure as hel* not telling!
I guess it is a team of people!
BTW, if I remember it correctly, it was 12 Billion dollars!

It WAS 12b. And those who knew where it was were taking it by the sackfuls & either pocketing it or handing it out to various "workers" with no receipts.
Wonderful oversight.

Slow Medicare growth, but allow medical costs to
skyrocket..Good plan!!
Have you not yet realized that our present government is selfish, evil and without conscience??
Maybe you have and you just prefer they do your dirty work on your behalf?
it is not SOCIALISM that creates opportunity for humans living here to live with dignity and grow to give back to their embracing nation. it is called "the American Dream"
and only people with fascist tendencies would characterize it a socialism.
In this case you don't say "let them eat cake" if they don't
like the crumbs we throw them,
instead, you tell them "let them get their own insurance"
if what we are throwing at them makes them sick...
The epitome of elitist un-American arrogance
Let me ask you this: If everything is Bill Clinton's fault, then why, after 12 consecutive years of Republican presidencies wasn't George Sr., re-elected??
We won't hold our breath waiting for a semblance of an answer!

If you're only concerned about the fraud that occurs among those at the lower end of the economic spectrum you are a hypocrite, at the very least, cape. If you're such an advocate for fiscal responsibility, why don't we ever see you posting about the billions of dollars that are being wasted in Iraq? Why don't you complain when billions of your tax dollars are given to Exxon Mobil? Still waiting for a legitimate response to this. Thanks.

"I work nearly 3 months out of the year to pay taxes for social programs."
--But we both know there are LOTS of "social programs" your tax dollars fund over which cons raise nary a peep. Why is that, cape? We're still waiting for an explanation... ;-P

Let's do what the Germans did and kill off retarded children and adults, exterminate the gays and experiment on the SOCIALLY unacceptable.
You "work nearly 3 months out of they year to pay taxes"
for a costly illegal military occupation, corporate subsidies, foreign aid,
and to PAY OFF THE INTEREST ON THE DEFICIT.
Here's a tip: If we legalized 1/8 of the working immigrants in the country your precious taxes WOULD GO DOWN!
Boy are you selfish!
You're not a fascist, just a selfish cold-hearted individual who, if given the choice, would prefer fascism over socialism.
Take a look at fascist leaders like Pinochet, Idi Amin, PolPot, Samoza, the Shah, Hitler, Mussolini, Milosevic, Hirohito or the Czar vs. Socialists like Castro, Chavez and many Scandinavian leaders and see who outlasts who.
it is a no brainer.
It is only corporate America who should fear social(ism) programs, but they can spend billions putting people like you in fear so you support do their dirty work.

Well I have to agree with you here rdy2rck. I am also on disability and struggling still to make ends meet. I'm not a big spender or anything like that, either, but my check barely covers my house payment. Everything else such as lights, phone, water, etc., I have to scramble to pay! There are a lot of folks like us out here who really and legitimately need the benefits this budget would cut, and the issue of abusers is still not being addressed.

"I'm on disability and Medicare because I have to but know all too many who get a lawyer and somehow get on the doll. And it gives the people who really need it a bad rap because we're stereotyped."
--I think if you researched thoroughly, you'd find that the cheats are the exception and not the rule. The reason "all too many" people get a lawyer is because, like most forms of insurance, the insurers go out of their way to make the application and approval process as onerous as possible. And even after someone is approved, they can throw roadblocks up (to prevent renewal of or increases to benefits, for example). This is one of the reason the GOP despises lawyers--because they advocate on behalf of those who the insurers would otherwise screw over.

rdy2rck,
I don't know where you live, but somewhere in your neighborhood, there is a local Bar Association, and they have a group of lawyers representing people who cannot afford a lawyer, on a "pro bono" basis (no fee). It may be worth your while to contact them. There may even be a Catholic charity there that helps needy people get legal representation.
If none of this works, you may contact your State Bar Association.
I wish you luck!

they fought my girlfriends disability tooth and nail. one case worker went so far as to tell her that those 2 10 inch titanium rods in her back were "more of an inconvenience than a disability".
what finally worked for her? Congressman Melvin Watts (D) NC, thats what! i had her call the congressmans office and tell them her story. im under no illusions that the congressman personally wrote all those letters or made all those calls, but someone in his office DID do those things for her...
the result? it took almost a year, but once a congressmans staff got on board she got approved.... best part is that your congressman works for you FOR FREE, unlike a lawyer, who will charge you a signifigant chunk of whatever they get for you....
so, my suggestion is...
CALL YOUR CONGRESSMAN and good luck to you!

"Actually the benefits are not being cut. They are slowing the growth of the program."
--I know, I know... And, for the record, taxes against the ultra wealthy aren't going to be raised in 2010, either. They're going to be rolled BACK to the rate at which they were before Bush took over and obliterated the budget surplus he inherited from the previous President.

even these expenditures pale by comparison to the close to $200B to be spent on the phony war in Iraq. Add it all to the other spending on defense and one comes up with about 45% of American GDP. Really pathetic scenario.

Americans support any petty dictator who will hand over their resources. They don't care about what happens in Pakistan as far as having a democracy....this is all just western propaganda.
Americans have 120 military bases world wide and they aren't there for the good of mankind!!!!!!

rfw,
It is more like $750 billion! Add the $12 billion cash that was stolen in Baghdad, and now you have $762 Billion!
That does not even factor in the $2 Billion recovered as cash, from Saddam's bank accounts!

That is the money that Saddam stole from the "Oil For Food" program supervised by UN. It was open season for bribery and corruption at all levels of UN and, of course, Saddam!
It is estimated that at least $20 Billion were stolen from that program!

The people who support Bush and try to justify his spending using Democrats as their excuse are the ones who drive me bat sh!t.
Bush is the typical repub who loves the rich and think the poor are poor because they are lazy. They never think that the poor could possibly be that way because they never had a break or because they are too ethical to cut throats to acquire wealth.

I guess I could argue intelligently like the rest of you, but.....
What a worthless turd this small, disgusting little man has revealed himself to be. A semen stain on the Office of President. A syphilis sore in a suit.
I'd better quit before I get carried away on a rant.
