But behind the scenes at the convention, many builders are angry and downright depressed by the state of the housing market. The target of their angst: politicians in Washington, D.C.

I have no sympathy for the builders. They are terrible for the environment. They won't let any parcel of land be. They buy it, grade it, cut down the trees, fill in the wetlands, destroy the animal's habitat and generally ruin the environment. Would it not be cheaper and better for the environment to tear down existing homes and build on them? There would be no wasted duplication of services(new sewer lines, water lines, power lines, etc). Plus the savings in time and gas because of shorter travel times to and from work. I realize this would require a paradigm shift in peoples thinking. Maybe that time has come.

'many builders are angry and downright depressed by the state of the housing market.'

These same Builders were not too Upset when the Money was Rolling In?

Many people were sold Houses that these same Builders and Financial Institutions knew they could NOT Afford.

Now they want the TaxPayers to Pay the Bills so they can continue this viscous Cycle???

      Pretty sad.....

I have watched the builders go overboard. Building houses that can't be lived in because their aren't enough people to inhabit them. Quick buck. Use cheap Mexican labor and cheap materials. Plenty of older houses are on the market that will be a better investment in terms of reliability and craftsmanship. But everyone wanted a quick buck. I, for one, bought a well made house, used, at a more than reasonable price in the recent market. And I can live within my means comfortably while paying the mortgage which won't rise. I feel sorry for all the others who made bad decisions. But, they need to learn.
