In Africa, Bush wants AIDS plan renewed »
Posted By not2needy 1 year, 8 months ago in Business & FinanceTanzania - President Bush rejected proposed Democratic changes to his prized AIDS relief program, issuing a challenge Sunday to Congress to "stop the squabbling" and renew it as is. Tanzanian leader Jakaya Kikwete made an impassioned appeal for the same thing, saying thousands in his country would orphan their children if U.S. lawmakers d

Here's the REAL crux of the problem. Bush's AIDS money is in the BILLIONS. ONE THIRD of those BILLIONS goes to so called 'faith based' charities. They wander around Africa and 'teach' abstinence only. They tell women, who have no rights, to 'just say no.' That's what this is about. Democrats want REAL solutions, including education and birth control. The fundies don't want that, just like they don't want it here. So BILLIONS of OUR tax dollars is for fundies to squander, and their 'leaders' to get richer.
Oh, and it's also a pay off to the fundamentalists for their vote.

Well put jordan. Now why can't the average repub see/understand that simplistic way the repubs have of pocketing what is probably borrowed money that their children will end up paying back.
Personally, i don't think they really care, it's all about their party and defense of that party that matters, not their children or grandchildren.

Know also that Bush and the neocons want to militarize the Christian friendly African nations against the Muslim nations.

IMHO, we have no business taking care of another countries health crisis until all Americans are taken care of with Universal Health care.
I am tired of seeing our tax dollars going to rebuild or health care for other countries...we need to take care of our own first.

Hi EE, glad to see you!
One of the worst parts of this is, IT'S NOT EVEN OUR MONEY, it has to be money borrowed because we HAVE no money. Bush has spent it ALL. He's still not satisfied, he wants to make sure the USA is completely broke when he leaves office, with no where to turn to for help, because we are so in debt to everyone who will lend us a dime.
We are so in debt to Communist China, they are probably biding their time to attack us, knowing we are at our weakest hour in every possible way.
I don't understand why the repubs continue to defend him the way they do.
You should have seen the thread i submitted yesterday about this, the way the repubs on there defended Bush was sickening.

"I wish someone in USA can define this guy?"
it's not only bush. it's the ruling elite. and it spans both sides of the fence.
as I have said many times: democrats and republicans are 2 sides to the same coin.
Barak, Hillary, McCain are all pro-amnesty with the same overall agenda:
the North American Union.
Why have 2 parties when the goal is the same?
Ron Paul does not support this plan.

I wish someone in the USA could impeach this guy. Then Indict and Imprison his butt.
Teaching "abstinence only" to women who do not have the standing to choose is nuts. But the fundies can feel good and Georgie can repay them for their support.
And why do we not have universal health care? Insurance industry lobbyists? Gutless Congress? Nuts.

For Bush to ask that $10 billion (1/3 of the money) go to abstinence-until-marriage programs is just silly.
This money ALL needs to go to anti-aids programs that have been shown to work. A $10 billion give away to his Church friends is absurd.

This country is at it's worst since the Great Depression.
I have said this before, but i think it warrants being said again.
"If i am hungry, homeless, and naked, WHAT can i do for anyone else?"
What the rich repubs don't realize is, there are millions of hungry, homeless and naked in America! The only reason they don't starve, die from exposure or walk around nude is because of the kindness of people like us who donate food, clothing, and support the shelters. The govt provides NONE of this, it's all done by donations, and the kindness of strangers.
A few food stamps, to homelsss people who have no place to cook! What's the best they can do with them? Buy bologna and bread! What a diet! While we take billions to other countries to provide health care and education, but mostly to grease the palms of their fundies!
What about this don't republicans understand?

cont:
Then it's their excuses that kill me..... Americans have the opportunity to do anything they want to do, so if they choose to be homeless, it's not our fault!
Can any of you believe that?
Like mentally ill people choose to be homeless, like ANYONE would choose to be sick or mentally ill! Repugs say, "It's their own fault", so we support taking millions of $ of borrowed money to other countries to have evangelicals go around and tell the women to JUST SAY NO!
Then we have the vets come home without limbs, with PTSD, and Bush wants to cut benefits to the vets, repugs support that too! But a couple of years ago democrats were being called unpatriotic, traitors, treasonous, and various other vile names, because we didn't support the war.
NOW i say repugs are unpatriotic and traitors because they don't support our troops after they have supported us.
