Feb. 19, 2008, 5:40 p.m.I was wondering when this would hit. I saw her speech this morning and was suprised, upset, and insulted all at the same time..there will be a flood of stories about what she really meant..but to me it will be to little to late.

Feb. 19, 2008, 7:18 p.m.I was appalled by her statement. There HAVE been some VERY proud moments in the history of this country.
Not a very becoming statement from a pontential first lady.

Feb. 19, 2008, 8:43 p.m.The most interesting thing about her comment - as well as her previous comment that she wasn't sure she would support Hillary if she was the nominee - is the lack of media coverage. I've been watching CNN and CNBC and I'm stunned at how little play this statement is getting... except for "Morning Joe." That was pretty entertaining.

Feb. 19, 2008, 8:45 p.m.Boy if Hillary's spouse made a comment like that ............. Bu hey there is no double standard.

Feb. 19, 2008, 9:30 p.m.Although I am very liberal, that statement was a mistake. America is the greatest country in the world to live in. My position as a liberal is to make America ever better, more moral, more respected, and not merely accept the status quo.
She should apologize for this (mis)statement

Feb. 19, 2008, 9:34 p.m.I would think the fact that she and her husband were able to go to Ivy League schools before embarking on extremely lucrative careers would make America a very, very nice place to live.

Feb. 19, 2008, 9:52 p.m.I don't think Michelle should have said that, but i am sure she is somewhat overwhelmed, and very proud of her husband.

Feb. 19, 2008, 11:05 p.m.For the first time in her life, she's proud of the American dream. Me too. I went to the polls tonight and voted for Obama, even though it won't count here in WA. Because for the first time in my adult life, I'm proud that the American dream is REAL, & not a pie in the sky dream for so many. I had the choice between a black man & a woman for the candidacy of President of the U.S. And when the results are told tomorrow, my voice will be included. My vote for a candidate I never thought I'd see in my lifetime. Yep, for the first time in my adult life, I'm proud of my country because it's dream is finally real.

Feb. 20, 2008, 12:11 a.m.What a sad place that live in that you have such hate for your native country.>>>>
I'm afraid you're projecting your own 'hate' there, son. It's people like you that kept the dream down for so many, for so long. But now those days are gone. Yep, today I was finally proud of my country for fulfilling the promise of its dream. (I know, that concept went right over your head...again. No matter, because your brand of 'hate' doesn't matter any more).

Feb. 20, 2008, 1:01 a.m.I understood what she meant. From her perspective, I can understand her perfectly. But I also instantly knew what the attack dogs on the right would do with this. Much ado about nothing, but when you have got nothing but shameful achievements to run on for the past 8 years, I guess you launch attacks over every tiny error in the speech of your opponent's spouse.

Feb. 20, 2008, 1:03 p.m.I guess it finally dawned on her that the notion of America being a racist country has been a lie for some time now.

Feb. 20, 2008, 2:11 p.m.I heard last night that this is not the first time she has said this exact same line. Which means she did not mispeak she did not make a mistake this was scripted.

Feb. 21, 2008, 12:34 p.m.It was not all over the news. It should have been played every ten minutes.
As I have said before, the media has Not been fair with the stories and it's coverage through this campaigning. Period.

Feb. 21, 2008, 2:46 p.m.Thanks rimbaud. Is there anything else? You have been the first and only to give me anything on 'The Man'. I respect his stand although the war has clearly turned into a war against al-Queda and I would much rather fight these characters over there than here.
I appreciate your response.
