The Texas Governor thinks that sexuality has no business in and among a group of high school teens with raging hormones. He wants to instill family values and claims tolerance of gay people. I suppose he could look Jesse Jackson or Barack Obama in the face and say, I have never met a black man I did not like. How insipid! His euphemistic attitude and condescending tone irritate worse than fingernails on a chalkboard. Teenagers are human, and sexuality is a defining part of what it means to be human. Some humans are gay, deal with it! Why should gay kids or adults be denied the opportunity to go out into the wilderness and camp with their peers? Just because they are gay? Governor Perry is peddling his right wing crap along with the Boy Scouts to show that gay people are not tolerated as he puts it, but really second-class citizens.

Thanks for posting this, David.
My dad devoted his life to the Boy Scouts of America. It was an organization he believed in. Back in the '80s, I challenged his thinking on gays and the Boy Scouts because I came out as a gay man. And I am an Eagle Scout and the fact that I am gay prompted him to do a lot of soul-searching. Since then, my dad and I became close and he grew to accept that I am a gay man. I would say that my sexuality became a non-issue.
Dad died on February 6th. I share this because I believe that my relationship and friendship with him opened his mind in a way that otherwise wouldn't have happened. I don't think we ever completely understood each other, but I knew he loved and accepted me unconditionally.

David knows nothing about the Boy Scouts. To become one you must take an oath to keep yourself PHYSICALLY STRONG AND MORALLY STRAIGHT. Gay men cannot do either of these things because of their sexual abberant acts. .
Gays are NOT denied the opportunity to go out into the wilderness. They are free to go there any time they wish to. To say that anyone is denying that right is to be utterly, whiningly stupid. If you want to go into the wilderness, JUST GO THERE and stop whining and crying about being denied.
The Scout Law-#11- says: A SCOUT IS CLEAN. GAYS CANNOT QUALIFY BECAUSE STICKING YOUR DICK IN SOMEONE'S ANAL ORIFICE IS DIRTY, AS DIRTY and as unhygenic AS IT GETS.
You can form your own CLUB and call it the Gay Scouts of Hell-merica. You have FREE WILL and can choose to not engage in gay sex. But you are too weak to use your FREE WILL. Aren't you??

How about just leaving the Boy Scouts alone! There organization has functioned just fine for many years like it is. What is so hard about understanding they don't want gay scout leaders mixing with young impressionable boys. I do understand that this would be a target rich environment for the gay movement, and to deny them the opportunity to play with the minds of theses boys is defiantly making them mad.

OhmyGod. Gay people have always been in scouting. Largely to no consequence. And BTW, my only knowledge of any incidence of pedophilia in scouting occurred with a scoutmaster who was a married man with children of his own.
Point is, pedophilia is about POWER, NOT sexual orientation. 99% of gay men - like 99% of the population as a whole - find pedophiles repugnant. You continually try to lump gays and pedophiles together, which is complete nonsense. A sexual orientation and a mental disorder are not the same.
I know of NOT ONE gay man dismissed from scouting who molested a scout. Not one.
Something's wrong with this picture...
