Obama Says Plagiarism Flap 'Best of Times, Worst of Times' »

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama responded today to Sen. Hillary Clinton's charge that he plagiarized a speech, saying of the controversy, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times."

      Obama replied, shaking his head, "Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears. Me thinks the lady doth protest too much! Methinks she has a lean and hungry look, done to death by slanderous tongue. Blow, blow thou winter wind. Get thee to a nunnery."

      Senator Clinton hotly responded, "Think you I am no stronger than my sex? That man that hath a tongue I say is no man. Here's ado to honesty and thus I clothe my naked villainy!"

      Obama's calm retort ended the back and forth, "I am constant as the northern star. What, my dear lady Disdain! Are you yet living?"
