Genes may help determine your vote »
Posted by: Goppy 1 year, 11 months agoResearchers at Vanderbuilt University (from my home state) have discovered a key difference between the thinkin patterns of Conservatives & Liburals. The short answer is that them Liburals tend to think bout pros & cons of issues, while we Conservatives focus on just one side of every story. See? We Conservatives is highly efficent. We dont

Feb. 24, 2008, 9:48 a.m.Well, I aint submitted a story in a long tiem, but I saw this story this mornin and thought, well, my ole homestate of Tennessee got themselfs a doozy!
Im proud to say that theres now scientific proof that we Conservatives dont use our brains to consider any political cunnundrum. We go inta every political question knowin all we need to know and dont need to know no mo.
You liburals on the other hand, you waste so much time and brain power actually considerin aspects of issues of the day!

Feb. 24, 2008, 12:07 p.m.I have always thought that the conservatives must have some major genetic differences, after all, it seems that most of them are knuckle draggers. Not literally of course, but intellectually, no question. Now we know why.
Thanks Goppy, there's hope for y'all. There is a new technology called gene therapy that may assist those in need of new and improved mental faculties. 'Course, if it is called new and improved, you conservatives will attack it as a liberal plot. you might be right (even a blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally), but wouldn't it be nice to see all the chaos that would result from the true conservatives realizing that the modern repugs are not conservative, and the fundamentalists renouncing hate as unchristian?
OH MY!

Feb. 24, 2008, 1:07 p.m.Science is starting to touch on the very real differences that occur in the way people process information. If one were to divide a population into two groups, these groups would be roughly comprised of "progressives", and "conservatives". This is by no means a political division, as much as physiological.
Progressives use the part of their mind that is more in tune with the real world. The world of cause and effect, and non-linear dynamics. They are better able to perceive this world of probabilty and proprtionality. This requires a holistic way of looking at situations, as the world is concurrent. This makes them better able to be objective about situations. They see determination with a greyscale range of options. This instinct for non-linearity, makes them better suited to weigh a range of options to deal with new situations.
Conservatives have less or no connection with these processes.

Feb. 24, 2008, 1:46 p.m.I has really been fun reading all these posts. I always did think there was somthin wrong with conservative thinkin. Couldn't figger out why they couldn't see that there just might be another easier way. My credo is live and let live. If you don't bug me I wont bug you.

Feb. 24, 2008, 2:40 p.m.Somehow this info fits with John Dean's Book, Conservatives Without Conscience, where John uses several psychologists more recent data to place far right wingers and evangelicals into the same psych profile as that developed after WW2 on the followers of Hitler. The thinking processes considered are congruent in their conclusions.

Feb. 24, 2008, 2:58 p.m.If it is the Genes that determine my vote, guess it would be independent and for democracy! It was my genetics that kept me little and short, why not control my votes also!
Interesting, thanks Goppy!

Feb. 24, 2008, 3:57 p.m.I think genes may influence voting habits only insofar as they influence one's overall personality. As a middle-aged gay man, I have to say it's all one continuum. Just as I believe I am sexually genetically predisposed to the same sex, I probably am also predisposed to my liberalism (Yeah, yeah...I know about the Log Cabin Republican types, but I have another term for them: self-loathing).
Who knows why? I know that my liberalism, like my sexuality, is a natural inclination for me....

Feb. 24, 2008, 7:44 p.m.Hey Goppy, as one of them thar dang "hard-core Christian consurvatives", how is it that you can have such a progressive way of looking at things? You must really not have been paying too much attention to your instructors at that creationist scool of yours. Were you sick the day they taught intolerence and Rush Limbaugh? No offense. (oh I get it, irony!)
