    FTA:

The Democratic-controlled House voted two weeks ago to hold Bolten and Miers in contempt for failing to cooperate with committee investigations.

"There is no authority by which persons may wholly ignore a subpoena and fail to appear as directed because a president unilaterally instructs them to do so," Pelosi wrote Attorney General Michael Mukasey. She noted that Congress subpoenaed Miers to appear before the House Judiciary Committee, which is investigating the firings.

Maybe someone should have told Bush this when he instructed them not to appear for questioning!

I wonder if exec priv is going to get them out of it again!

    Probably.

      Also FTA:

At the time, the Bush administration was no less harsh, saying the information sought by the House was off-limits under executive privilege and that Bolten and Miers were immune from prosecution. The White House said the department would not ask the U.S. attorney to pursue the House contempt charges.

How can the information be "off limits"? Bush is amazing, he never stops.

Is that how the emails got erased? Off limits, due to exec priv! EGAD!

Only a Repug led Congress has tried to impeach in the past with Johnson and Clinton. Maybe she doesn't want to stoop as low as Repugs have in the past!

This was such a glaring case of contempt of Congress that it absolutely HAD to be pursued. To let this slide would be to openly declare that law only applies to little people.

I applaud Speaker Pelosi and the Congress for standing up to the the fear tactics of this corrupt administration.

The Bush administration is worse than Nixon; Bush's crimes are against the American people.

Congress should continue to keep pressure on Bush and demand unpartial investigation into the crimes and complicity with the judicial branch.

Sounds fair to me. However she should also be investigated as well as every representative & senator.

It's interesting to see how many Bush apologists are still out there. They're a good 15-20% of the solid base the Republicans have left; all they have left.

These folks are generally people who hate anyone who doesn't look like them or give them a doing nothing job.

The Bushies and Republican party are all about trading favors and not prosecuting criminals.

That's okay. The election is coming up and we'll be around to continue to investigate Bush and his cronies. It may lead to the first charges against a former administration and their henchmen. I would say that the Attorney General will be gone in a millisecond once the power of office is changed.

I say wait it out so he can't pardon anyone- then go after them.

This is the most open and shut case I've ever seen. Miers and Bolten were subpoenaed by Congress and just didn't show up. They could have went and not said anything like Alberto Gonzales, but they didn't. That's contempt, there's no two ways about it.
